Hey Neil and Cheryl . Would like to see more pics because we were too slack to take many ourselves. This is why we love these sort of runs because of all the colour and variety . We had a ball and cant wait for the next one. Thanks John and Dianne.

Hi guys. Dianne and I just got back from Millmeran rod run and we had a blast! Thanks to Rods Inc for a fantastic ,well organised run. I think all the VVs had a good time and there should be some hilarious photos posted when the guys get time. Half of us had to come back to reality Monday but the lucky other half headed off to Texas . We would definately recommend this run and we are going next year for sure. The drive there and back was a breeze compared to going up or down the coast from Brisvegas. Would be good to see more vans there next time . Cheers John and Dianne.

Thanks Ray. Thats the only lube I was thinking of but I wondered if it would taint the water. I will try it and give it a taste test.

We have one of those cheap plunger style hand water pumps in our teardrop and it wont work because it is hard to push/pull. I pulled it apart and the seal rings all look good but they seem to stick to the bore of the pump. Is there supposed to be some sort of grease on them to let them side smoothly ? They had a slight greasey feel to them but I wondered if they had dried out a bit. The pump is about two years old. Is there a grease that wont hurt water quality. ? Cheers John

Hi Elliot. Will be good to see this come along. We built ours in 2008 and has had heaps of use and we dont intend to stop. You mention having the axle to the back . This is like you said, better weight distribution but also to give you more room for the doors and they just look more in proportion. Ours has 12 mm ply sides painted, roof is timber ribs covered with masonite then aluminium glued down to that. We have done a lot of miles on rough roads and 2years later it is holding together really well. Im sure you will enjoy building yours. The first part of construction happens pretty quick but the final fit and finish takes a while. Ours took about ten months mainly just weekends. Anyway ,have fun building , its well worth it. Cheers John and Dianne (black cappachino teardrop)

Hi awesim. We use our teardrop a lot and the only thing we dont like sometimes is being too hot at night. We have a roof vent like yours, a front window above our head and I added little louvre vents each side right beside our face. Some nights it is still too hot but we found if we leave the doors wide open it was nice . But then we got all the bugs coming in. Now we have fitted zip up mozzie screens and we cant wait to try it when we go to Milmmeran at easter. Im only telling you this because you might be able to add more ventilation now before its finished. I dont mean to be critical ,just that most teardrop owners will tell you that heat is a bit of a problem. Anyway its still well worth it and the lifestyle is fantastic. John

Yep , definately looks retro.!! What a nice job . Are you a cabinet maker or something.? Looks like you are not far off being finished . Is the exterior going to be stained or colour coordinated to your car.? John.

Hi Awesome. We built our teardrop in 2008 and have been made welcome by all the VV owners at the camps we go to. They are an excellent group of people. All I can recommend is to try and build it as retro looking as possible and not like a modern off road camper. Ours is the little black one seen in photos on our Canungra gathering. Its sort of old looking . Anyway Im sure you will have fun with it. Cheers John.

Hi all. Just wondered who might be going to the Rods Inc easter rod run at easter. A few people at our Mudjimba camp said they were going and we are too. Its supposed to be a really good event and cheap too. (breakfast for $2.00 and a free meal for entrants on Friday night) We are planning on leaving home at about 1.00 P.M Friday. Hopefully might see some of you there. John and Dianne.

Hi guys, hope everyone got home safely from another excellent weekend. We needed a bilge pump to clear the water out of the floor of the Chev - lol. Waterfalls ran through the radio and I had to stick my head out the passenger window to help guide us down the freeway. After having sat for 1/2 hour or so on the Caloundra turnoff waiting for the rain to clear, we then got held up on the freeway by a rollover and a end to end crash. Temperature gauge going up and oil pressure gauge going down. How much did you say you wanted to buy it for Obe? Anyways home now - all good. A good time had by all including Robyn on her first outing with the group. Thanks for organising the weekend Rod and thanks for the piccies Clyde. Hope to see you all at the Border Ranges in a few weeks. John, Dianne, Shaina & newbie Robyn

We really hope to make it to the ranges. As always it depends on what car we can get going at the time ! The Ute has steering issues and the 55 has the motor being rebuilt AGAIN (hopefully close to 600 H.P. this time) If all else fails we will make it in the wagon . Really looking forward to down there. John and Dianne
