We have one of those cheap plunger style hand water pumps in our teardrop and it wont work because it is hard to push/pull. I pulled it apart and the seal rings all look good but they seem to stick to the bore of the pump. Is there supposed to be some sort of grease on them to let them side smoothly ? They had a slight greasey feel to them but I wondered if they had dried out a bit. The pump is about two years old. Is there a grease that wont hurt water quality. ? Cheers John

Hi John Put some Vascaline on the washer or O ring that should fix it. Ray

Thanks Ray. Thats the only lube I was thinking of but I wondered if it would taint the water. I will try it and give it a taste test.

HI THERE! VASALINE IS PETROLEUM BASED & NO GOOD FOR SEALS/O RINGS.

Hi John My water pump didn't work properly, so I lubricated with vegatable oil. Not sure whether good for the seals, but it worked. Assumed I wouldn't poison my self with it, and the little bit used didn't taint the water. Cheers Steve
