Hey Doug. I haven't finished your bonnet and guards yet but hopefully soon. I am by myself in the shop now just working through the last jobs before I get out on the road. Cheers. John

Hi all Thought it is time to give this thread a bump as Xmas is just around the corner The plan is to do pretty much the same as we did last year, so for those that attended you know the drill. For any new comers once we have an idea of numbers we will decide who's bringing what food. There is no need to book with Kenilworth Homestead this time, as I have already booked and paid for all of the powered sites and there will be plenty of room for everyone else. Although there isn't alot of powered sites I don't think anyone had to go without it last year. Just put your name on here if you intend to come. Hope to see lots there - we had a fantastic time last year. Dianne Ps - keeping in mind that as this is Christmas we understand that many people want to spend time with their families. ALL are very welcome to attend whether they have modern caravans or tents, whatever - it doesn't matter. The more the merrier I say!!! There is plenty of room for everyone.

I like all the work in progress photos. I love checking out the non van stuff too. A caravan is nothing without a tow car! Cheers John

Hi Dennis. In my opinion the whole vintage van thing has grown so big ,so fast up here and has nothing to do with whatever forum you look at . Nearly every show of any type up here invites caravans now. The public like checking out our vans and it is fun promoting the lifestyle but I agree that we have sort of drifted away from the proper camp weekends that got us started in the first place. We have always gone to hot rod /car shows etc but we really looked forward to van events to mix with different people and have a relaxing weekend out in the country. There are often too many things to go to. Hopefully once our business sells we will have more time to find somewhere to go. We normally try to support any event another vanner organises if it doesn't clash with others. So much to do with so little time ! Cheers. John

Looks good Reddo. I like your 3way lock. Pretty secure ! What are you doing for a door seal? I have to make ours seal better as we get a bit of water blown in on Diannes side. She doesn't like sleeping in a wet spot ! Cheers . John

I screwed steel angle iron onto the floor then glued and screwed the walls to that. Probably overkill but it has lasted well.

I found a cool site with heaps of photos from Maidenwell and also Cowra Nationals. Search for Hotrodhotline.com then go to 2012 car shows and click on New Zealand with Noddy Watts He has taken heaps of excellent pics at both events. Check it out ! Cheers . John

Hi Diane
We didn't use any plans when we built our teardrop. We just had a good look at a couple and then just made up our own. Feel free to pass our contact details onto your friend if he wants to have a look and/or chat about how we did ours.
Catch you soon Dianne

With the ute motor a little tired after the Cowra trip we are relying on the 55 now unless we take the Commodore and that just won't do ! Trouble was when I drove the 55 to work last week the auto wasn't happy. It wouldn't change properly and slipped when I put my foot down . A quick inspection found the pan gasket had popped out one side and fluid spewed everywhere. I fitted a new gasket and fluid thinking it was just low, causing the problems . Still no good, I booked in with my trans guy and headed off early this morning only to run out of fuel five minutes from home. I don't have a mobile phone so had to knock on a door right where I stopped . Nice people let me ring Dianne and ask her to bring a tin of fuel so we could get to the next servo. Anyway we left the Chev at the trans shop and he rang later to tell me it was just a sticky TV valve and the box doesn't have to come out. He took it for a test drive on the wet roads and figures because it spun the tires in overdrive it aint slipping !. I took it home this afternoon and it feels good again. Yaahoo !!! Maindenwell with Jellybean here we come !

Its a one pub, one shop town but we have a good time there sitting around fires, out on a cruise, pig on a spit, games etc. Freezing cold though ! Thats part of it. We just hope we can still make it. I have to pull the trans out of the 55 for a checkup and the ute motor might not handle the trip either.
