Can't help you with the dating, but I believe Skyline was a sales /distribution outlet........there are Sunliners with the Skyline brand on them too.

That Gristy is because Franklin made those fibreglass vans then decided they didn't want to be in them any more......and then Mr. Kennedy took over the moulds, production etal and then so began Kennedy Caravans.

regarding the flash......the correct one does join front and rear and is usually colour co-ordinated to the interior. I have never seen anything that could be called a Sunliner hubcap. As most Sunliners are towed behind Holdens, and are usually fitted with Holden rims, a hubcap to match the car is usually the go.

Reddo, My nephew picks up and delivers "Scrap" cars to the shredders . He tells me about the good gear that goes into the shredders and he knows himself it should be saved, but alas someone else has paid to have it taken there. I've told him to think of me if any old caravans come up, but nothing so far. Monaro Monaro Monaro ;D ;D

The Humber Hawk, even though it is only 2.25 litre is very torquey and when matched to the standard 4 speed manual gearbox is an excellent tow vehicle............I also believe the gearbox from a Hillman Hunter...with overdrive can be bolted on.
You can even put disc brakes on 'em.......they became standard towards the end of production

I will try to find the ad.....I think it was '39 and it did mention the change due to the unwelcome association with Herr Schickelgruber!
Only guessing here but it would be the one with the big motor..........the smaller engined car had smaller headlights

"Dunno what the ideal set up is" ?? Its lightweight....... has no flat edges so as to enable it to 'flow' through the air with ease.......... you can stand up in it..........make your brekky and cuppa by the heater or cooling fan...use the "bucket & chuckit".........sleep 4 with ease ........and does not leak when it rains or suffer from woodrot Whatelse but a .....SUNLINER!!!! BTW.........love your car, I am a Ford fan..even if I drive an EH, my other car is an XP Fairmont stationwagon.

Lisa & Ian, If you go for an XP get a fairmont....the 200cuin motor and power Disc brakes make towing a doddle (thoroughly britttish word!). I have an XP Fairmont station wagon and an EH Premier Wagon but the FORD IS BEST!....... when it comes to towing. My Sunliner weighs 700 kg UNLADEN. Probably about a tonne with everything on board. Regards Humpty
