Hi kaz. I reckon the model A's are the best shape henry ford ever put out of his factorys. Closely followed by the 1956 effys. I noticed your rod has a towbar.. . to coin a phrase.. " so what are you bloody well waiting for??".. "Wheres the vintage van??" I've Just got back from Wintersun. I copped plenty of comments and jawdroppers when the locals seen my EK ute with the Teardrop van on behind. Old vans definitely make a great accessory/jewellry for original/ classic/ modified cars and rods. I can see keirra beach van park becoming Vint van headquarters next year at wintersun. love to see the pickup with van in tow turning up there. No... wait.. we wanna see ya's on the east coast tour leading up to Coledale 2007. It aint that far off... so get your finger out and score a van ;D Reddo

Hi Caz, Awesome rod! And a Henry too! And a ute! You beaut! I bet you just love cruisin in that. Would look awesome with a TD or Propert behind it. Good luck with the hunt. C'mon you Northerners, help Caz find a cool van for the 'A'. And I dont mean a #%*^$# AVan either. 8-)Tinnie

I agree with Reddo's comment. I reckon the model A Ford is one of the best looking cars Henry Ford made and yours is no exception.
Love the color.
Model A's always remind me of the type of car Mickey Mouse drove around in the Disney cartoons. ;D ;D
Hope you pick up a van to suit your rod.Its worth waiting for the right one.Eventually something will come along that your happy with. That's what happened to me. Waited for ages to pick up a '50's bondwood van and almost gave up but eventually I scored one .
All the best,
Terry.

Hi Will Your comments have been noted. Can one of the moderators pick Wills post up and put over under "Central Coast weather" thread. Meanwhile... Hi Kaz. There is always something lurking in the wings when it comes to old vans. My advice is dont go to silly extremes on ebay . You can find yourself bidding out of your depth for something that usnt exactly what you are chasing. Just sit back with your ear to the ground and something will turn up local. Van spotting is an enjoyable pastime when out cruisin' in your rod. Dont be afraid to bang on someones door if ya spot a van laying in a yard. Sure you might get a few knockbacks "not for sale" but sooner or later you will strike it lucky. Its a lot harder to find an original teardrop for sale and they are great for towing long distances or overnight stops. If you intend taking extended trips .. say a week or two you would be better off with a full sized van. something that has a good sized bed that you can actually lay in without having to sleep with your head under your armpit. Its no fun being uncomfortable when ya on holidays. If there is just the 2 of you then a 12 footer will be plenty big enough. If you score a van with an annexe then you will be laughing. Only downside of having an annexe is sooner or later you will end up with a dozen vint vanners in there enjoying happy hour or 2 with you. Good luck with the hunt. i will send you a message if i hear of anything down newcastle way.... might be flood damaged stock Reddo... a wet and soggy Newcastle. Its flogging down here again... people in the street are nervous.. and rightly so.

Hi Reddo, glad to hear you are almost back to normal (well, normal for you anyway)
Regards you comment on spending an extended trip in a TD Karon and I head off to Darwin and beyond in 19 sleeps, we are going to be in the Sportsman for 6 WEEKS. Lucky we are both a little on the short side. We will let you all know how we go but I cant see too many problems occuring. (we have been married 25 years in Nov.)
Admittedly though, I have been thinking how nice it would be to have a van I can stand up in!
cheers to all, Leigh.

Hi Reddo
I think that Matt and I will have to disagree with your last post.
{If you intend taking extended trips .. say a week or two you would be better off with a full sized van. something that has a good sized bed that you can actually lay in without having to sleep with your head under your armpit. Its no fun being uncomfortable when ya on holidays.}
I think we proved it at wintersun with our trip home to get our teardrop. Matt and I spend long holidays in the teardrop and love every one of them. I don't think we will ever use the full sized van for a holiday.

Onya shultzys "I think we proved it at wintersun with our trip home to get our teardrop. Matt and I spend long holidays in the teardrop and love every one of them. I don't think we will ever use the full sized van for a holiday. Suzann and Matt " Its not the tin vans fault that" the big lump" is wider than the 6 foot van True Tds are heaps of fun and easy to tow. But as we discussed at Kirra the other week . You really need an annexe that comes up at least one side of the van and covers a door. Nothing worse than waking up for a pee in the middle of the night and hearing it raining. Ya know ya gotta get out and sprint for shelter.( and relief) also have to sleep with your shoes if its raining. noooo ....i dont mean on your feet.. i mean in the van. Wouldnt it be nice to be able to exit through the rear like a propert or a caravannette to the shelter of an annexe . I suppose there is always a hospital style bedpan ;D ;D ;D. A full sized van lets ya get up of a morning and boil the billy for a warm cuppa or cook brekky and eat at a table without climbing out into the elements. The big plus with a TD is the savings on fuel consumption due to minimal wind drag and weight. Dunno what the ideal set up is.. if there is such a thing in the vintage van world. Perhaps a tent big enough to stuff the entire TD inside might be the go. Col and Kris have sent me a 10ft X 10ft Autotent. gunna give it to the team in "the shed of invention" to come up with a design that works when camping. Cheers big ears Reddoonerhugger

"Dunno what the ideal set up is" ?? Its lightweight....... has no flat edges so as to enable it to 'flow' through the air with ease.......... you can stand up in it..........make your brekky and cuppa by the heater or cooling fan...use the "bucket & chuckit".........sleep 4 with ease ........and does not leak when it rains or suffer from woodrot Whatelse but a .....SUNLINER!!!! BTW.........love your car, I am a Ford fan..even if I drive an EH, my other car is an XP Fairmont stationwagon.

Hi Kaz We went for a run on the vintage bikes up to Hawks nest north of Newy on Sunday. Passed a stack of rods coming south home from Valla. None with vintage vans . a few with late model pop tops . Had trouble staying on the road while admiring the cars ;D Hope you enjoyed the weekend in the old red and silver van. Reddo
