Looking good Humpty. Primus torch & soft solder off a roll. Or heavy duty electric iron & solder stick. Surface must be clean & wire brushed.Guessing a torch`d be much easier to work with. Heats the surface area quickly allowing the solder to flow. You don`t or won`t need it red hot, just enough to soften the solder along the mitre gaps.Thin strip of smooth timber to spread solder if need be. gordon

Got a couple of them old wood eskies. The liner is gal. The insulation is 1" cork.Did try for coldness when i first got them with half bag ice & couple tinnies. 24 hrs later the tinnies were still chilled nicely. Can`t see why caneite shouldn`t work as used on van roofs. gordon

Hi Seeshell.Thanks. Looking into the galley from outside the none-too neat hole on the right was cut out decades ago to allow then owners feet to protrude. And you`d have food in there! The light coloured panel on the left is where the ice box once sat. Up top were/are 5 cupboard spaces as seen in first set of small pics. I am unable to enlarge those pics clearly but they also show sign writing on hatch & kerbside panel beside front window. The kerbside door was back then a seperate opening flyscreen & panel door.Brackets were fitted to either side at roof height to hold annexe poles.Through the years the fx under body wheels were changed to others to suit those owners requirements. I was told by a long ago owner that it had 16" Austin 3 stud wheels fitted to match his Austin as he used to show it at the Whiteman Park Museum. I bought a set but thinking about it i decided fx wheels which i bought originally are the way to go. When Willyn owned it: When Reddo owned it: gordon

Gday Humpynvan/Urkel.The plastic bodied discs were possibly/similar to 3M Roloc Bristle Discs as per pic below. Up to 18,000 rpm. Different colours denote softness/coarseness. You can also use fibre discs/pads (mini scourers) which attach to small air grinders. The unit i use is a swiss Suhner unit,12,000 rpm & discs/pads vary in size/softness etc.The ones in pic are 1" & 2". Careful use of either as aluminium heats very quickly which means it will score easily requiring fine wet & dry sanding followed up by polishing. As for polishing sheet ali - good old elbow grease using a buff machine with waffle pads or cotton flap pads. gordon

Hello Don Ricardo. The camera cost me $500 back then. The retreival cost me a grand.I lost some 20,000 images i had stored. Have many hours to sort & organise what was saved. Didn`t back up did i! My new camera stores 80,000 in VGA format.Bought a $50 500Gigabyte WD Elements external hard drive.125,000 MP3 or 100,000 JPG storage. Happy chappy now. Happier more that the landlord has given the nod to allow me to use the work area i need to resume on the Td. gordon

Hi Beetles. POR15 or suchlike paint remover. A soft copper bristled brush similar to ones you`d use to clean files with to get into the impressed diamond profile should work well without scoring the surface. Followed by "Purple" brand ali polish or similar. Phosphoric Acid - can be totally lethal to skin if not wearing acid proof gloves/goggles. gordon

SMILES: Being in the vehicle detailing game (30 years & been working 47 years) the bleach i use is trade quality so there`s no foreign material left on the pegs. Two of the dolly pegs in the collection wore remnants of being toy doll at some time. IRIS:100 suitcases! Geez i`d hate to be the one to go looking for a particular piece of material. Or button for that matter. At least we all know who has all the vin tea towel material now! May as well add this Hecla Boilo ceramic jug which allows for poaching eggs in the 3 tier basket or insert the ali jug & boil milk/cook stew etc. 4 pound 17 shillings & 6d according to the 1958 chrissy ad. gordon
