This is a bit of a long shot - but does anyone have a spare one of these? My 1959 Coronet is fitted with a gas lamp and two types of electric lighting. Of the two electric lamps, I do not know which is older and why they are doubled up. Perhaps the fluoro is original and the round lamps were added later for their softer light. Any other suggestions? (I see one of the round lamps just sold on eb*y for $60.)

Hmmm, good question . I'm not keen to connect the mains supply until I've had the wiring checked, but will see if I can figure it out.

The strip light is a fairly common bathroom type of late fifties through to early seventies vintage, it has a 240v incandesent filament type globe, they turned up on bathroom mirrors and you can probably still get them from specialty globe suppliers. I'd reckon the round clipper type would probably be the 12volt unit. I'd be careful of that taped up wire end, if you're not going to get another strip in the near future a miniature junction box from the big hardware chain is probably very cheap insurance against burning yourself or the van to the ground.

Turns out the long lamps are 240V and the round lamps are 12V.
For the time being, I have disconnected the 240V lamps rather than converting to dual pole switches.
I can always use a portable lamp through the dual pole GPO I have had installed.
