A good friend just sent me these photos taken of herself and her Mum, approx 60 years ago. You can see the model name "Swallow" in the photos, and I'm informed by Don R, that it is made by Windmill. Max

After more than 3 years of "talking", I'm thrilled to say that Aussietankers 1956 Don, now has a new home in Vic.
With the permission and approval of A/T, I will shortly edit and précis his postings, so that newer Forum members will be able to read and see the history behind this rare Don.
Lots of photos to come asap.

Photo of V8 Hubcap that was on the V V, is below ... as originally suggested, they are from a 1936 Ford. What a great Forum this is ... we will never die wondering what the answer is, to our questions!! So readily available ... thanks to all for your replies. Max

Some might remember a while ago, I posted some photos of a V V owned by a friend on the Bellarine Peninsula, not far from Geelong. Over this very hot Labour Day weekend, I helped another friend remove the V V from its home for the past 20 odd years. The near side was hard up against a fence, and access to the A Frame was denied owing to a large tree which had grown in these 20 years. It took about 8 hours to get "her" out (by sliding her out sideways on 2 greased boards under each wheel) and ready to tow to her new home. The van (homemade?) is "Don" like in appearance and is believed to be 40's vintage or, even a tad earlier? The real mystery are the 16" wheel/rims, and we would love to know what they are from, and a guessimate as to their age ... can anyone please help? Max

Hi Geoff,
If I get the V V I'm expecting/hoping to get in the next couple of weeks, then I'm a starter.

Missed out on Cowra at the last minute, by virtue of a crook knee. Not missing Broken Hill ... count me in.
Well done Mods (again).

She is approx 10ft of unknown age. On the roof, there appears to be a modern Four Seasons Hatch fitted. Near the bottom of the door on the left, is a plaque which says 'Skyline'. Unfortunately no one was home, so I couldn't see inside ... however I'll go back this coming weekend, to hopefully get more info. Any estimate of her age? Max

Would anyone be able to tell me, what am I & how old am I? I was recently spotted in the Bayside suburbs of Melbourne and appear to have a matching pink chimney. Max

Hi Cobber, greedy53 & Don R, Thanks for the thought of being a 40's "Windmill", I went to DHL and certainly the similarity is there, particularly with the shape, livery and wheels. Cobber, I didn't see the front nor rear windows without the blue protective sheeting, however I've attached some other photos that may help (some are mine & some are from DHL). Still like to know what the wheels are from ... can anyone help? Max

Hi Rod, Found this Power Point, unfortunately it's not exactly the same as yours .... if you look carefully, you'll see that your switch is "down" whilst my switch is "up". If you can live with that slight imperfection, it's all yours! I thought I had more, but this was the only one. Regards Max

Approx 3-4 years ago, on expiry of the then current S A rego on my '64 GlobeTrotter (now owned by shesgotthelook), I enquired with Vic Roads about having personalised plates. I wanted ZR 799, which was the original rego on both Dad's Vanguard & his Don (see photo). I was told I couldn't have personalised plates for the GlobeTrotter. Max

I posted these photos on the Forum a few years ago, and some of the newer "members" may not have seen them, so here they are again. These photos were taken in approx 1955, and yes, the cute little guy in shorts is me, at about age 10. The black & white photo, was taken about 4-5 years later (that's me, 2nd from the right, but not quite as cute) Our family did a lot of caravanning and I still have great memories of those happy times.
