Hi Di
Sorry to hear about your foot, sounds painful. Hope it improves, especially so you can make it for the weekend!
Hi Neil
Rob will be bringing about half a ute load, so what do you think? Sound enough for a couple of nights fire? Most probably I'd think. I'll phone the Jondaryan place tomorrow to see if they have any firewood as well or if it's byo wood.
Should be a great weekend. See you Thursday evening.

Sorry the Banno's won't be there. Wonder who else we can convince to strip off at Jondaryan?
The Jondaryan Events Coordinator phoned today. Only 3 sites have been booked for our group so far, so that's 2 others besides Rob & me. The coordinator says that she needs our bookings direct to her in the next 2 days, as the generated power area is filling up FAST & she may have to give us non-powered sites if we don't get our fingers walking. All the details are there in this thread, you can either book by phone or by email, you just have to quote Vintage Vanners & they'll put us all together.
Less than 3 weeks anyway to go, so PLEASE book & let us all know in this thread. It's a Scottish theme this year, you're sure you can't come & bring a kilt Banno? Och, all those plaid shirts will be just the ticket though!

Hi All We'll go along with the crowd if everyone wants to have catering, but we really loved the camp oven cooking & were looking forward to being more involved in the "action" next time & learning how to do it. In fact we got so thrilled about it, I bought an old camp oven with legs at the local junk shop.
However, I can see that some people end up doing all the work (we didn't like to elbow our way in as newbies last year at Canungra) & some people are very generous with contributions to the cook-in. So we'd definitely like to keep the camp oven cook-in going, maybe at more wintery events. Wadeville was great (won't forget Trevor keeping that fire going through the night), & a few people at Crownest felt it was a really great "guy thing" to do. So maybe doing the damper/camp oven thing at canungra is a good idea along with trailling catering. We'll bring wood too.

Hi All
Well it's only 5 weeks to go till Jondaryan now. It's the weekend after the election weekend. The Events Coordinator has asked me for all your details such as numbers, dates arriving & departing, names/addresses, car rego details etc, so I've emailed her & told her you'll all be doing this direct to her & quoting Vintage Vanners. I've told her we all want to be TOGETHER & that a group of vintage vans is an awesome sight!
Other info provided by Woolshed is: Pets are ok as long as you sign a disclaimer as you arrive, they are not allowed onto the complex only in the caravan park area. Camp fires are permitted as long as you have your own wood and it is in a drum contained. Admission into the Australian Heritage Festival is $13.50 per person and the accommodation is $14.00 per site per night. As for the Cookhouse meals they will be Breakfast, and Dinner and you can purchase that either at the time or pre purchase at the Heritage Help Centre.
Any questions do them direct to: Rachael MacLeod Events and Functions Coordinator Jondaryan Woolshed 264 Evanslea Road JONDARYAN QLD 4403 Ph: 07 4692 2229 Fax: 07 4692 2220 Mob: 0424 938 977 Email: rachael.macleod@jondaryanwoolshed.com

Hi all
I've done the booking for all of us above + extras. but keep letting us know if you're coming so I can give final numbers to Woolshed closer to August. I think someone may have contacted Woolshed themselves to book. Can you let me know through a personal message if you have, so I can clarify that for the Woolshed booking people as they are confused now! Cathie

Hi Ob & Lyn I'll do the booking, you do the paying when you get there. Pretty much all the details are in the first post in this thread. Our daughter & her 2 little campers may come as well, the 3 yo is a Tom the Tank engine fiend, so may get excited to see working steam rollers & tractors. Cathie

Hi all So glad you're all keen to go to Jondaryan. By my count, there's 11 vans so far, so I will book for 20. If heaps more people want to come, then I will contact Woolshed again & hope there's space. let me know if you think there'll be lots more than 20, you've all done this heaps of times so must know roughly how many vans usually go to events. Hi all, here's the reply from Jondaryan Woolshed. Sounds like it's about 2 hours west of Brisbane. Can we get an idea of approx numbers so's I can contact them again as I've only booked for 12 so far? Thanks Cathie (I can book you into our Caravan Park for the 27th, 28th & 29th August 2010. We will have a Grand Parade every day at 12:30pm. I have made contact with our Camping Coordinator for our Australian Heritage Festival and he said that we should have no problems accommodating all your group and keep you all together in one place...the only thing is that you will be on generated power and it turns off at 10pm and comes back on at 6am. Pets are allowed as long as they are kept on a lead and that we ask the pet owners to sign a disclaimer. Camp fires are not allowed in the park...however we have a Camp Kitchen which has a big fire place built in the middle of the floor which you are able to use. It is always best to try and over book as I can always fill the sites up, but if we underestimate I may not be able to squeeze the extras in. The price for Camping is $14.00 per night, per site. Admission to get into Festival I can do a special price for your group of a one off payment of $13.50 per person and that will cover you for as many days as you like. Let me know if you would like to go ahead with this and I can lock you in. www.jondaryanwoolshed.com/

Hi JBJ
Guess you must be going to Wintersun when it starts, rather than on the big parade day 12 June. That's when I'll be working in Emergency at Tweed Hospital.
Just hope all you old jivers don't slip a disc, break a hip or run down your pacemaker battery on that day!
Yes there are a lot of things going on....Casino beef week parade is 29 May...the Old & Gold festival at brunswick Heads on sat 12/6.
My trouble with weekend work is I only get an occasional one off (June 5 & 6). So no worries, we'll wait & see what surfaces. We're thinking of going to Bribie maybe on 5/6 June. Anyone got any info/experience on good places there? the group has been to 1 C/P previously on Bribie, haven't they? Someone at Wadeville volunteered their place at Bribie for later in the year, but don't know if that will happen? Anything further on that?

Hi Sutcac
I've emailed Jondaryan about powered sites for 12, for 27 & 28 August, with maybe more vans to come. A group of 12 gets discounted entry into Woolshed, & min camping stay of 2 days means you only buy 1 entry ticket (about $12) into woolshed. i've asked lotsa qq's re pets, wood etc. Cathie

Re dates If we have a get together in late May, could we make it the weekend of 5 & 6 June? That's the weekend after Casino Beef Week, so it would have to be somewhere else other than Casino. Imbil? Kilkivan? Q. Mary Falls? Sommerville Valley, Stanthorpe? or even Goomburra?
As to later dates, Rob & I are definitely going to Jondaryan heritage Festival on 27,28 & 29 August, so if anyone else wants to come along, I'll do the bookings for the group if that hasn't been done by anyone else as yet.

Forgot to say that last year we were lucky to have rain the week or so before we got there. this meant we were allowed to have fires, as there had been fire bans before the rain...just a thought... Cathie & Rob

We can go any of the dates as there's plenty of time to plan for this one. One consideration re dates is the heat. Last year when the group went, it was very hot at that time. We went to Canungra with our family at end of easter school holidays & it was more pleasant weather, cooler at night & great for sitting around the camp fire. So we'd prefer the week before Yamba if possible. No worries about dates tho...if it's hot we'll park the van under the unpowered trees, like we did last time. Nice & cool! Cathie & Rob

Hi all we were talking about the next place to go, & a few liked the idea of Jondaryn Woolshed www.jondaryanwoolshed.com/01_about/01_about.htm#accomThey have the Qld Heritage Rally on there 7,8,9 May when they fire up all the machinery, including vintage aircraft this year. Otherwise it's late August when they have it all up & running again at once. Bit colder in August, but is May too soon again? You can have dogs as long as they're "under control". Brilliant display of working machinery. Bet the organisers would be happy to see a whole bunch of vintage caravans! Whadya think? Cathie
