Hi Nicole & any others
We'll be at Crows Nest so if anyone wants to pay me the cash for Canungra, that's an easy way to do it.

Geez the weather must have been nippy...Banno's still fully clothed, guess he didn't want to scare off those whales, specially that albino whale Migalu that swims up n down the coast!

Hi Janeene
Bondies are lovely, but they fall to pieces if they get damp/wet constantly. And that wet includes condensation from under tarps, especially in humid Qland if the van is out in the open. We live in a humid climate (almost Qland) & store our bondies in an open garage with tarps over them to stop the dust. what about building a cheapish carport?
Cheers

Sounds as though the brochure was written in 1966...mention of pounds & dollars?
We love our under floor stainless water tank ...leaves more space in kitchen section.
Hi Fran, love your colourful decor. how do your shelves attach? To that little piece of timber? So obviously you have to pull them down when the van is folded up?
Cheers Cathie

Hi Tanya
Canungra is a really lovely spot, just an old fashioned Showgrounds near a great creek with some lovely swimming holes. Powered areas are up the top near the place where we have the Xmas dinner. Some powered areas are still available closer to the trees for shade, but there are whole areas that are unpowered closer to the creek. Just great big grassy mown areas, no defite sites or anything. So no dramas re space! pay the manager on arrival.
Cheers Cathie

Hi Lorraine Welcome to the forum! When you get your cute Mildred back on the road, you'll have to come along on some outings with the SEQ mob. A great time was a weekend at Wadeville in Feb 2010. In fact we live just over the hill from you & there are other VVers in the Tweed Valley.

Only 38 days to go until Tara weekend (according to the Tara website). The event is held on Frid 5, Sat 6, & Sun 7 of AUGUST 2011.
Firewood is supplied, just bring kindling (Rob & I can do that, no worries). Wagon train vans circling the fire (like at Jondarayan) sounds like the go. maybe not too close to fire for those bondies though! Spanish Fiesta is on the Friday nite, that'll keep us warm!
From earlier posts looks like goers so far are
Andrew (smut57) Neil & Cheryl Barb & Clyde Di & Garry Lisa David & Lyn Cathie & Rob Dosse & Ilse Tanya, Brian & the gang
Cheers

We took a little fan heater with us last year & were VERY happy we had it. The locals said there'd been a big frost the night before we all came, about -6.

Both the Midstate & Westview C/parks are pet friendly.
Anyone have experience of either park?
Thank goodness for this Forum, people sharing experiences etc

There's another C/park in Dubbo that's pet friendly called the Westview. Anyone have any experience of this one? Sounds like it's a little way out of town in a rural location.
Guess C/Parks can go downhill over the years, especially if they don't have maintenance...

Hi all
Thanks for starting off this discussion Doug, it's great to have all these ideas.
A few of us at Flanagans also talked about possible routes to the Cowra Nats & a lot thought that the New England Highway was the go, & a great starting point for the run to Cowra might be Tenterfield for the 1st night.
For the 1st day, that's a slightly longer run for the Sunshine Coasters, an easy run for the Brisbanites, an achievable run for the western Qlanders coming from areas such as Dalby & a good run for us NSW northerners going thru Lismore, Casino to Tents. There's a great lot to see at Tents, wine, 3 dog friendly parks, wine, autumn colour at that time of year, wine.
2nd day we pick up Rod & Janette at Armidale, head for 2nd night at Tamworth. Other possibilities are around Tamworth, Bendemeer, Moonbi or Gunnedah.
3rd night Dubbo, lookin at gaols, etc etc all of 4th day spent at Dubbo zoo & stay night at Dubbo again, Jaquie suggested Poplars C/P in centre of town, then cruise into Cowra next morning, short little run & be there midday to join the rest of the v vanners for the 7-10 days.
Return journey could be Cowra to Coonabarabran or Dunedoo on 1st day, 2nd day on to Nundle, Di suggested Nundle in Fossicking Land, neat little country pub in very small rural town. 3rd day to Glen Innes, Deepwater or Guyra. From G Innes, people may want to go through Nymboida & join up with Pacific H'way at Grafton. haven't been on that road for years, but it's gorgeous scenery.
keeping in mind of course, everyone may want to return home after Nats on different days & we have to find parks, reserves etc for our friendly little mutts! yes Banno you can bring your pig!

Phoned, emailed, phoned, eventually got someone at Tara!
So we're booked in at the Polo Field opposite the Showground where the festival will be held. Other years firewood has been supplied so sounds like it probably will be again, there'll be half x 44's for fires, dogs allowed at Polo field but not s.ground.
They will do online ticketing in May, so can get tickets for whole weekend for a family for $40 for festival. Free camping, so THAT's a bargain!
Have to bring our drinking water as Tara is on tanks.
I've booked 12 sites for Frid, & sat nights. Let me know asap if you want to come on Thurs so I can let the Tara person know.
Cheers

Well we're off to Horseshoe Bay C/P at South West Rocks for Easter Sat, Sun & Mon so if anyone wants to join us, yippee!! Even if you want to drop by!
We've got a nice site for the Propert right on the grassy headland overlooking the beach. Dog's allowed, so should be good.

It's raining here so we're taking car/Propert so our stuff doesn't get wet on back of ute. That means we can't bring a load of wood like other times.
We're also bringing 3 boxes of china for Banno (as Louise & Phil may not get to Flanagans due to L's mother is ill) so will try & throw a few logs in the back of the Propert! Looking forward to it, have a 1.3 roast beef for the camp oven, plus some veges. See you all Frid.

Hi all we're bringing the Proper little Propert & were thinking of driving the car, but Rob's talking about driving the truck up & over Lions Rd or Border Loop to Rathdowney via Kyogle & Wiangaree, which means we'll bring some firewood from home! We'll let you know by Wed.
We'll bring a roast beef for the camp oven plus spuds & sweet potatoes.

Hi Di
Yes we're happy about $25/head & bring extras/nibbles if you want it for your table. I'd like to see tables with kids fed first as kids have smaller stomachs than the rest of us & find it hard to wait!
yes I'm still happy to collect the money, if & when everyone seems to be happy with the catering ideas, & have decided that's what we all want to do. For security reasons, probably think way to go is for people to PM me that you want to deposit money & I'll PM people back the bank a/c details. people can also pay me the cash at Flanagans this weekend & I'll take a book to keep payment record

We're still keen to go. Just re-read previous info from Sue that: she's booked 12 sites so far camping is free with amenities but no power dogs on leads in camp area, but not allowed in festival area $40 family entry fee for festival events
Yeah sounds good! maybe we'll have to kill a camel n do a camp oven camel for breakfast on the Sunday hey Banno?
