Hi Reddo, I need some window supports for my sunliner, 5 windows ===10 supports ,( or whatever you have as i do not have any ,), for 63 Sunliner , i do not know if these come as a multi fit or not ,or if different years are unique , and my van is not here at the moment so i cannot just wip outside and measure from holes in window to holes in frame with window shut to get the length, or whatever measurement you need .. if you think that you have some that may suite please reply if you want any info , thanks kel, ( wish we were a bit closer to the V/V action , at 1800 klm north of Brisbane it is impossible to get to any V/V events , shame as i like to eat drink & talk , maybe we can get there after retirement )

Hi all , I have a Sunliner & when towing and braking the spring did not compress at all ( coupling rated at 2270 kg ), so all i did was back off the preload nut so that there was no tension on the spring at all , now it works fine , under normal braking it now slides about 1 inch ( 25 mm ) . enough to work the brakes fine ,,
Good luck .. Kel.

Hi All ,, You all need to check the concessional car rego conditions in your own state . Qld has it ( club -concessional rego ), but you are only able to go 15 klm from home on a test drive , further if you have a booking at a repairer etc , the only car club runs that are ok to drive concessional cars are those organised by properly constructed car clubs ( registered name & incorporated ,insured, etc ) I believe this Vintage Van site is none of those things ,( i could be wrong ) that means that many of your get togethers do not qualify to take your club registered car to unless you are a member of a proper car club that has the event in its events list . ( or any proper car club has it in their events , it does not need to be your club ),, I am hoping that the same scheme comes to Qld that has just been released into Vic , SA has had it for years , That is the log book scheme .ie;-
3 cars @90 days each = 270 days that you can legally drive you classic car ,, more than enough .
I hope i have helped ,so think about it , if you have a crash outside your states concessional rego guidelines your insurance could be void ,,
Bigkel.

Hi , i live in cairns and rang up about that van 2 weeks ago (was in the Cairns paper ) so it does not look like it is giong to sell fast ,, i have never done up an Olympic but i beleive the floors are not easy to replace ,they are covered with fibreglass top and bottom,,& rotten timber below windows,,,, There is an olympic for sale at a caravan yard just south of Innisfail ,he is asking $1000 -- half the floor is bad and there is next to no interior,, I think the yard is called Moresby caravans .good luck, kel.

Hi , i guess you are changing the hubs to take the holden wheels as they are not the same stud pattern as early valiant , can the holden hubs be slipped straight on or are holden bearings different in the inside size . ,, kel.

Hi All , I am a Firefighter with the Qld Fire & rescue service, ( 25 years ) If you had seen what i have you would not hesitate in installing a smoke alarm I have been to several caravan fires , they burn to the floor in 4 minutes from the time that the flames are seen . In a caravan park situation 4 neighbours with good pressure garden hoses have almost no effect on these fires . But on the up side the burnt bodies are easy to find being in a small area ,( dogs, cats, & things that used to be people ) The chance of your van burning is remote , but if any of you can tell the future please contact me as i could use next weeks lotto numbers. 99% of fires are a complete surprise to all concerned. i could go on for pages on the subject, but if you don't get now you never will. thanks for reading this KEL.

Hi All,, Was going past ,so stopped in to look at the Olympic today, very shabby, inside has all been pulled out, looks like the beds kitchen dinning booth & robe etc are attached to the walls with fiberglass and this has been pulled out leaving bits and pieces of plywood every where ,, floor is built on a timber frame which is mostly mush decomposing where the floor used to be . high cupboards seem to be all there but no doors..outside of van is a little in and out ( not straight ) also is weathered and has some mould .. Half of the windows are missing the glass & colour bond has been screwed over it putting screw holes in the frames . A frame did not look rusty but was twisted ... towable ?? cheers Kel.

The glue stripping product i have used with success is not toxic or flammable ( or explosive ) K-Mart used to sell it maybe still do it is called Citro-Clean , a very strong orange smelling cleaning product , it softened the glue residue to a point where it would come off in gooey lumps ,, kel.

Get any 12-15 ft caravan and give it a tow behind your Kombi ( a guy in Cairns towed a light Sunluner- 600 kg -to Bris & back with a Kombi , he said he will never tow it any distance again , far to slow & on the HWY thats dangerous .

hi . i got 6 layers of house acrylic paint off my valiant van it cost $300 for the paint stripper that is for airplanes, forgot the name , but is for aluminum and will not damage it , brush on with wide brush, stainless brush it off the diamond pattern with the grain , if you sprayed it on a large area some would dry before you could deal with it , ( 3 weeks did the job ) each coat took off around 1 coat of paint , good luck.
