if i put a tow bar on this and had a speed contest , i am sure that could your MG a run for its money !!!!!!!!!! , (This weighs 1100 kg & has more power than you can use .) , but i don't think i want to do that race . If your MG weighs 900 kg , ideally your van would need to weigh as little as you can get . My sunliner weighs 600 kg empty ,i do not think that you will get a caravan that you can stand up in that weighs much less than that . if i am wrong someone will soon correct me . Towing safely is usually not a power thing it is very much a handling thing , as i experienced recently with my Ford f250 towing a very big car on a trailer , got a sway up ,i had to move spare parts from car to the f250 then it was good . cheers kel. you and your MG would be welcome at Cars and Coffee Westcourt plaza , 2nd sunday of month ,from 9am . (all cars and everyone welcome ) Pics on American Car club Cairns web site .

Voodooroo . what area are you in ,, some one on the forum( or a visitor ) might want to make you an offer , . Trouble is ,if you cannot do it your self it is going to cost many $$$ . Maybe you can store it until you have time to work on it . good luck,,, Kel.

Here is a second opinion ,,, if you end up with this van in Cairns, and tow it with the MGB please let me know ,i would like to watch , i work for Queensland fire and rescue and have not seen a good crash for about 2 months ,, the van looks good in the photos . The PT cruiser would probably do the job but might be down on power into a head wind . Cheers kel .

You may wish to have a re think , i would think that it would cost around $2000 for transport from SA to Cairns . 2 years ago i got a quote $2000 from Melb to Cairns ( i live in Cairns ) . Good vans come up in south east Qld . you might have to look for a while . good luck which ever way you go . cheers Kel.

This looks like a good spot to put in a warning about some tarps that are on E-bay , I recently purchased a " HEAVY DUTY CANVAS TARP ,FROM THE PRICEISRIGHTSHOP ,12X16 ,$94.90 ,EYELETS EVERY 12" , EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY , WATERPROOF , . (that is out of the listing description ). The thread used to weave this tarp is not wound tight enough ,then it is made into a tarp in a very loose inconsistent weave . in fact you can see through it in some sections . You guess if it is waterproof !!!!!!!!!!!!. Made in Pakistan , I FORGOT TO READ THE FEEDBACK BEFORE I PURCHASED .. They have refunded $30 . i have asked them to remove the words "Exceptional Quality "from their listing before i leave feedback . so far they have not done that . Here are 2 photos .. It is made out of 4 pieces and does leak , Cheers Kel.

Hi gman , i owned this car for many years and and it was in lots of displays around Cairns so it could possibly be in your photos .
Dolphin180, Ally , i live in Cairns and could possibly find people to do fibreglass repairs here , but i guess you are 1000's of klm away .
Jenniewren , Hi . wrought iron draw bar -- that is the factory steel tube space frame chassis ,strong and light , and the Galaxie cop car as far is i know has not left cairns , as these 4 door cars are cheap there are several around Australia that have had the black and white treatment , but not many like mine with the 60's original lights and siren .
cheers Kel.

Hi , i lived about a mile from Caravan Court ,Springvale south ,it is in Springvale road , when most of the side roads were dirt , from 1963 to 1980 , i did visit the sale yard from time to time and never saw any evidence that they ever made caravans on site , they did do many large repair jobs . as far as Caravan Court goes i think that it was just a name for a sale yard / repair yard . if they did manufacture any vans it must have been well hidden at the rear of the yard .
cheers Kel.

Qld sunny one day and Ratsh-t the next .. no mobile phone ---no home phone --no internet --for 24 hours . no one up here had Telstra services , the police and fire service had no communication ( only had radio ) "OOO" did not work . the turn out procedures did not work . the public did not know how to get help if they fell off a ladder ,or had a heart attack etc . or got robbed or had a fire .you were on your own . Many other Gov departments had no coms . EFTPOS did not work if you did not have any cash there was no petrol or food for you . ALL BECAUSE OF A BREAK IN A CABLE DOWN SOUTH . And our urban Scania fire truck is not allowed to go through water more than 1 foot deep (300 mm ) . So if you are not already prepared for a total break down communication and goods supply & emergency services ,do some thing to help yourself in these times . Kel

Getting your head stuck in in a Holden ute spare wheel compartment rates pretty high, how does this rate getting your foot stuck in the glove box of a EK holden at the Rowville drive in theater (Melb 1974 ), & once that has happened you cannot get your trousers back on !!!!!!!!!!! cheers .

Hi , Some of you will already know this info ,but it may help someone , if you have the ball/race type of wheel bearings ( as in 58-59-60 chevs, Pontiacs etc and earlier ) all my workshop books tell me that they need to be torqued up to 25 ft/lb . & not adjusted as a later tapered needle roller bearing . As for the wheel studs i would try somewhere like , american auto parts ballarat ,google it , ( but they may need to know what car the hub is off )
cheers Kel.

Do not leave a car battery sitting on concrete for any length of time , apparently there is some reaction that damages the battery ,( ask at any good battery store , where they know what they are talking about , ) cheers kel.

The weather is always perfect up here , our favourite spot at the beach . The following photos are at the Atherton show and shine ( Willies car show ) last weekend , these were taken the day before the show . My car is the Convertible 65 pontiac , (purchased at Shannons in Melb in 1999 ) And this is Aaron drinking beer out of our Mason Glamping glass purchased at the vintage trailer show in California recently . sent from my car phone .
