Hi all , Over the last 2 days i have driven from Bris to Cairns , i picked up this 60 Pontiac Bonneville that we drove from New York to Los Angeles then shipped to Bris . will tow the Sunliner as if it is not there . not wanting to put anyone off driving the Bruce but the HWY is very bumpy with heaps of road works , ( stop ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,start ) , There are many free camp spots along the hwy with toilets . ( for the budget minded ) I can attend this event as long as i am in Cairns at that time . , to far off to tell . thanks kel.

Get a tow bar on that Oxford , borrow / hire a van of the same size/weight aprox , get out on the HWY & into the wind and look for a hill ,, that should tell what you can tow ,, cheers Kel.

Hi , I am a bit over 6'6'' and find our sunliner does the job well . you are always doing some thing , like , making a drink etc , you will find that you are never just standing straight upright in your van saying this van is to short . ( except when you are looking in one to buy it )

Not sure how much realy rough road you have in front of you but i think that the roof rack will not make it as it is , some welded in brace,s from the legs to the basket part would extend its life . good luck Kel.

Hi All ,putting up a few photo,s of a 60 Chev I got locally a few months ago , I would have usually have a car like this on the road by now but I have a hold up waiting for a fuel tank ( 3 months waiting ,Superperformance Bris , I think they forgot to order it from their supplier in the USA ) It is a bit ruff so it is going to be matt black with some kind of flames or graphics ? As I have done in the past I have knocked up a reese hitch type tow bar so I can adjust the ball height to keep the van level when towing . As you can see in the photo,s I have cleaned and painted the under side of the car as well as replaced all bush,s , seals and brakes . The previous owner managed to wreck every part he touched which is wearing a bit thin at the moment . I am understanding more now that some people do not know enough about cars to even start to describe that cars condition ,but think they do .

While I am on a run with Photo bucket I would post a photo of a tow car I had for a few years ,but is now sold . when I purchased this 68 Galaxie it was all white . .i painted the front and back black and added a few stickers here and there ,also some hardware on the roof (all working of course ) .this was the cheapest classic car that I have owned but it got by far the most looks from the public .

Hi ALL .. as you may know i live in cairns and did not know where the Kuranda rail photo was ,i went on the train about 30 years ago ,, here is a it of trivia for you that you may not know - around that same tiime there was a train robery of the Kuranda tourist train , a bunch of guys on trail bikes stopped the train near the barron falls stn ( which is only a viewing platform to look at the falls ) took a payroll from the guards van and did as the wid wild west robbers did , took wallets and watchs and rode off through a track in the rain forrest , AND WERE NEVER CAUGHT , possibly the last train robbery of its type in Australia ,
Back to the where is story , i did know where the Kangaroo valley bridge is as we were there a year ago ,,,( the road from near Nowra to Kangaroo is the tightest road i can remember, with a u turn at the top that i could not get around without going on the wrong side of the road , i would have got that one but have been away for a couple of days in our big van & away from the computa , & F-250,

Hi , i had a similar situation with a couple of motors , 389 Pontiac and 6 cyl chev, both had the same work done as your ford ----the Pontiac was flushed for about 2 days most of the time was spent with a strong bent piece of wire scraping and rotating it in all directions inside the block, combined with a strong water flow , it worked very well as i then installed a top radiator hose filter ( screw top with stainless removable filter ), which rarely catch any crap .all good , The only time the Pontiac now pings is when it gets to run on standard unleaded fuel . At 10.5 to 1 compression it needs premium ,.
Good luck,

Tow Car

The wagon has a 389ci pontiac V8 303 hp , (6.4 ltr ) & duel range 4 speed hydro-matic trans ,that is not an overdrive box , 1st gear is very low. AS this a a USA made car not much fits from this car to its Canadian cousins , the wheels even have a bigger stud patern . this car was not a runner when i purchased it about 5 years ago , i have been painting it ,one area at a time so i can keep it on the road as it is restored,

hi ,, sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this ,, I do not have any window suports at all , got the van without them ,, this sunliner had 2 on each window , there are 2 holes in each side of the window frame ( small holes close together ) and 2 holes in the side of the frame each side , so i would say that this sunliner had the sliding type support that had a wingnut (or similar locking device ) with a small bracket at the top and bottom line up with the now empty screw holes , sounds like yours are not the correct ones , thanks any way KEL.
