Hi All
We have been looking for some time for a Chrysler AP5 through to VC model Safari Valiant Wagon in good condition to act as a tow car for our Blue Flyer. Given the number of car buffs and people interested in period tow cars on the forum, I thought I'd add a Wanted Ad here to compliment our other searches.
If anyone has or knows of someone who is interested in parting with their vehicle I'd be very interested to hear from you via PM.
Cheers Seeshell

Hi All We're off Friday to Northern NSW to look at a 1966 VC Valiant wagon - if it's all we hope it is, we're going to drive it back on the spot. Why? Because we don't have enough excitement in our lives.... Will they buy it? Hell...will they make it home? Stay tuned! Cheers Seeshell

Nice car griffin but it's only a six pot, had one of these in my old AP6 Wagon but will it pull a van? I think an Eight would be better

Hey George Thanks for the link - we've looked at that one. She sure is a beauty, but probably more "surf modified" than we are looking for. For us, the holy grail is something that compliments but doesn't compete with the van. We think that we have a lovely 1966 VC in the pipeline (fingers crossed) which should be the go. But I don't count my chickens - we've investigated quite a few, even some out of state. I can recommend VIP Automotive Solutions in Pascoe Vale South who did a number of physical checks and valuations for those not nearby - very handy and comprehensive going over with plenty of pictures to help you get a sense of condition which can be hard to do from seller's snaps. I'm hoping over the weekend to have a ripper post about a roadtrip home with the perfect car - but equally I might be crying in my cuppa. Thanks for the interest! Seeshell

I love my V8s but the 225ci slant six was one of the best, most reliable and strong 6 cyl motors ever made. It would tow your van easy I reckon. In the past I have owned both a slant 6 AP5 and a VC 273 V8 and loved em both. I would be happy with a car with either of these donks as long as the rest of the car was in top order. jenno Great motors ....great period towcars jenno

When I had my AP6 with the mighty 225 slant six I was told that they were as good as a small 8, and that I agree with, I once came across a HQ stuck fast on a bank on a gravel road, I offered to pull them free but they said a 4x4 had tried and failed but I convinced them to let me have a go, hooked her up but couldn't get traction so I dropped the tailgate and loaded people in the back and on the gate till I did and pulled that HQ out no trouble at all, still wish I had it

From what I've heard over the years, especially from my Valiant loving son-in-law (he is of Italian decent and very biased) even the six would be a BIG step up from the Vauxhall Velox for towing the Debonair. But I have to believe the propaganda

Hi Seeshell,
We have two Valiants with the slant 6 in them, last year we drove from QLD to WA towing a van. The only issue we had was the timing, and with some much valued help : ) on the way home that was sorted. We think they are fanatic, and have been great for towing.
