hi cobber
i just read through that document - an interesting read.
this also caught my eye.
"Part 11 Other matters
180 Restored vehicles
For the purposes of this Schedule, a restored vehicle is taken to have been built when it was originally built and not when it was restored."
thanks for the link.

hi all (again)
i've just got off the phone to kendall's beach and have reserved sites 66 to 69 for us if we need them.
these are unpowered sites so keep that in mind if you choose them.
site 52 is powered and still available at this point and they also mentioned that all the slab sites 40 to 46 are unbooked, although these are slightly remote from the main group.
again, leave a post here to inform us and then ring the park to pay your deposit (or vise versa).
see you in september,

hi all
i've just spoken to the management at kendall's beach and confirmed our bookings at this stage.
they have asked us to pay a deposit as soon as possible, so if each of you can do that it would be great.
because of the group booking, i've been able to secure a small discount for the weekend, so the new price is reduced from $60 to $54 - hooray.
the phone number is 4232 1790 and when you contact them, mention that you're with the vintage caravan group and please use your forum name to identify yourselves.
there are two sites still vacant (47 & 52), so if anybody takes them, please contact the park to pay your deposit after you have contacted us.
ps we still may be able to secure more sights if they are required.
looking forward to seeing you all again,

hi all it's time to start putting together our next run to kendall's beach at kiama. we tossed it around at katoomba again this year and it will be from friday 10th september to sunday 12th september. i spoke to the van park this morning and they have reserved sites 47 to 56 for us, with the exception of site 51 which was already booked out plus sites 63 to 65, totalling 12 sites at the moment. Pets are welcome at the park, so you can bring your furry friends.we will be able to extend the number of sites if necessary, but we'll have to be quick. here's the deal. don't contact the park now - please respond via this thread and include the site you would prefer. see notes belowthe red heart means the site has already been allocated, we've selected site 55 again this year, i'll update the map and the list as the sites are filled. photobucket is a bit funny with updating the red hearts so check out the list below before selecting your site.site 49 - indiana site 50 - chippydave site 53 - cobber site 54 - colin & sue site 55 - geoff 'n jude site 56 - alan & jenny site 63 - vantoura site 64 - koala site 65 - kazandadam i've told the park management i'll get back to them early next week to confirm whether we'll go ahead with the bookings, so please get your names on the list asap, otherwise we might lose the reservations. the cost is $60 for the weekend and we've arranged for a late checkout - you'll have to pay a deposit but please don't do that until i let you know it is due. note added 6 julyi've just spoken to the management at kendall's beach and confirmed our bookings at this stage.

there are 11 of us booked in for the weekend (see original post) at the moment.
if anybody else decides to come along, please contact the park to make your booking.it is a beautiful park on the beach and very close to all of Kiama's attractions, including The Lighthouse, the Blowhole and Little Blowhole and Jamberoo Village and Minamurra Falls are very close by. if you plan on staying a few days either side of the weekend please let the park know when you pay your deposit. why not have a look at the website to see how good this park is? hope to see you there. I still don't like the bit on page 14 that says couplings must be branded with the name of its manufacturer etc. The RTA insists that all couplings from the beginning of time had these markings... but as we know many unique couplings from the vintage days had no markings on them but they are still very serviceable and safe...... so why chuck 'em the rta (or the person you're talking to) may be ill-informed. marvin's coupling (shown below) is a one-off that was home made and passed original registration requirements in the 50's and also passed blue slip in about 2007 and was never branded with the name of its manufacturer or the towing capacity.. i believe that like cars, a vintage van will only need to comply with the laws that existed when it was manufactured and that the rta or inspector would have to prove otherwise. don't be told what to do by bullies who only think they know what they're talking about - show them they're wrong, alan did.. geoff

hi all just got back from katoomba, the van's packed away and the car's in the garage so it's time to show you some photos. it was a great weekend, cold as buggary with almost snow and a good frost to wake up to this morning, but everyone had a good time. cliff and ingrid invited us to their christmas dinner with roast pork, baked vegies, gravy and apple sauce followed by christmas pudding (yummy). reddo provided fresh prawns he won at the rsl and we all provided good friendship, humour and alcohol. here's some pics, others will contribute theirs. talking garbage friday night. (click to play) judy getting warm cliff and ingrid out of the cold a couple of the cars and vans morrie with power for the first time ever and it worked after he discovered the light bulb was loose (by the way, we never saw morrie and kate again until it was pack-up time. they were having too good a time. spider with long pants on sandra with her unique way of warming up sunday morning frost at 8:00am geoff 'n jude

hi reddo
had a 57 fe back in the old days with triple su's, extractors, bored out , cammed up, lowered and lots of 'grunt' for an old grey.
it had a bad habit of tearing teeth of the cluster, probably cause of all the wheelies i did as a 'boy'.
ended up only putting half the bolts back into the gearbox/engine connection to make it easier/quicker to replace the gears.
your problem brings back memories.
