Those Chev motors must have some real acceleration to get to the Buy-It-Now button THAT quick! I'm still suffering from WINDBURN, it all happened so quickly...

Hi VVers A Kennedy, but maybe a Franklin , photo is not clear enough to positvely identify. I hope the new owner scrubs 'Olympic' off, we can't have miss leading info. Cheers boblor

Cause it just keeps bobbing up and down Gone off ebay again Perhaps he hasn't had much experience with time limits or such?

No I didnt buy the Ebay one ;D I bought a horrible coloured one with lots of silicone over every joint..(but it doesnt leak) from Kaybee Funny thing is after driving to a breakfast cruise on a nice chilly morning in the roadster , only one other car showed up I come across a funny sight heading down the highway Kaybee and their new one... so we all had a nice lunch in Yarra glen, then went and took photos of the two together and moved our one from their place ;D ;D ;D ;D

....hey!....I've been promoted!! ;D......and probably demoted already..... ;D....would you believe it was an accident?.....no?....ah well,it's the fault of whoever put it on the forum first and brought it to our attention ;D . It got processed on Ebay ,then relisted soon after as a buy it now......we sat and looked at the ad for a while and thought "why not"....so hit the buy it now button. Funny thing is, we just had a Kennedy offered earlier in the week...... here's us readying it for retrieval....... ....got it back here on Wednesday, Dale and Kylie put their hand up for it straight away, then the blue one came back on to Ebay after the first buyer defaulted .... ....here's the 2 of them together......Dale found the spats for the fawn van in one of the cupboards...... .....near as we can figure out,the blue one is an earlier example than the fawn one......blue one has an angle iron draw bar, other has a box section drawbar .....there are also a number of differences in the body mouldings, windows and a few other small items....... ....so what are we going to do with it?......dunno.....keep it for a while ,clean it up a little and do a few repairs, then offer it for sale again.......and put the money towards the rebuild on our "proper" wooden caravan..... ;D ;D

Hey Col, would you do me a favour and tell me what the cabin length is on this van? I know the seller described it as "approx 16 feet" but I always thought these vans were around the 14ft mark.
And an open question to anyone who knows about these early Franklin/Kennedy/Skyline models...were they only ever the one length, or were there different lengths produced?
thanks, Al.

Hi Al, seems as though they might all be 14ft, this one is, I think the seller included the drawbar, or just guesstimated ;D

G'day boblor and Col, Thanks for the info. These fibreglass vans still intrigue me. How do you tell which brand is which, and how do you tell how old they are? The following photos show a supposed Franklin. It has the typical Franklin-shaped wheel arch; the signature Franklin shelf above the sink; and a square-framed window at the front. The wheel arch looks like it's been moulded to be on show without a wheel spat ... [The sticker on the front of this van is from 1971 - a furphy] Here is another Franklin, but this time with wheel spats. This one has a Franklin badge (similar to the one on earlee's 1964 Franklin bondwood van); the Franklin shelf above the sink; and a rounded-frame window at the front... Which one is the older of the two? Col, one day when you're lying on the ground looking at the chassis, can you tell me what is the shape of the wheel arch behind the spat on yours; and also does it have that shelf above the sink? cheers, Al.
