hi geoff i've sent an email to pc madness to have the info corrected. the profiles do look good, and the link to the member's rebuild is a great addition as well. hopefully, as you said, more of our members will be inspired to add their vans to the profiles.the more we get, the better it will be for having an easy access link to our pride and joys when we want to "brag" to outsiders about our fantastic hobby. geoff 'n jude

hi humpy
just a bit of useless info.
when i was much younger i had a grey bored out to 3 1/8", cammed up with bigger valves and double valve springs, triple su's, etc.
with these sort of mods the fibre gear was often replaced with the ally one because the fibre couldn't take the extra loads placed on it by the double springs and high lift cam.
the ally ones were a bit noisy but they kept on keeping on.

gooday al don't forget the profiles are also for salvaged, unrestored vans currently in use. maybe that little treasure could fit into that category. the megabytes are being allocated, so it shouldn't be long before the first 10 profiles are sent off for publishing. the rush should start pretty soon now that the work week is over, we've had a look in our pay packets and there's a lazy $10 sitting there ready to be used. better do it now, after the elections next week $10 might not go quite as far as it does this week. geoff 'n jude

As you have probably noticed, the forum page has been modified to include Forum Member Profiles- Member profilesA link is provided here to the forum member profiles on the vintagecaravan.com website. Here you can view basic details of a member & photos of their vintage caravan - How to create a Member Profile (click here)Instructions on how to create a Member ProfileSo now it's up to you to read the "How to create a Member Profile" section, submit your profile and get it in the album. Look forward to seeing the album expand. Geoff 'n Jude

hi humpyboy when the idea of member profiles was first suggested, it was to show finished vans without any extended commentary apart from a brief pictorial description of the van and the members basic profile. the description was to include up to 6 photos, principally 1 before photo, 1 or 2 outside after photos, 2 or 3 inside after photos and maybe one of the towcar or towcar/van combination - but not to include any progressive/construction photos. the intention is to show the public a brief pictorial representation of what we do to old vans. (please refer to the 2 sample profiles to see the suggested content/layout of a member profile.) because the profile is to be administered by an "outside i.t. provider", there will probably be no facility to update or add to the original profile submitted, so one photo of anyone's van before the resto without any photos of the finished van may not be appropriate to the original intention of the profile. please note: as the originator of the idea, these are my thoughts only and mark may or may not agree with what i have said here.if you have more than 1 van, an additional profile can be added for each additional van. geoff 'n jude

hi mark happy to back you up on this one - i reckon it's a great way to easily access members' finished vans without having to slog our way through pages and pages of information that accumulates in the members' photo albums. the photo albums are great if we're looking to see what was involved in the build and what others comments were, but the profile of the finished vans will be fantastic when we're showing friends etc what the outcomes of the vintage caravan movement are. a great way to show a "glimpse" of our fantastic hobby, all on an individual members page, without spending excessive time trying to find the photos in 35 pages of "members photo album". for example, our van, (Roadmaster - Geoff & Judes 16' van) is lost on page 11 in members' photo album with 4 pages of info on the resto - very difficult to find now and containing some unnecessary info when showing friends, but the finished van can be easily found in the members profile (Geoff & Jude - 1965 Roadmaster Luxury Liner). and mark, having a link to the profiles from the forum home page is an excellent idea. (maybe we could include a link from the profile back to the photo album for those who want to look more closely at the rebuild info.) geoff 'n jude

avoid Shell petrols of all ratings like the plague because they have ethanol and/or other additives in them hi don filled the victoria with shell pulp once a couple of years ago. drove home and put it in the garage and the next time i filled up, about a month, the gasket on the fuel cap had melted away to nothing. i've never used shell since. geoff
