Hi Kaybee. I think that depends on the engine and the driver. ;D . We have one that is set up for a new Ford V8. Will go a bit faster then the 6. ;D ;D Just need to have Matt home to restore it. Suzann

Hi Reddo I do think that 3 Blitz's are more then enough. I am sure that Matt would disagree. I think he would say "But we don't have a Ambulance....." Good thing he is in Cairns. Suzann....

No need to camp over night as they wish to film the vans from about 11am and will be all over by 3pm and they are doing a story on the caravan park as well so she said that it should only take a few hours depending on the # of vans we have there.We will be first of the rank and then she will move on to the van park.

8-)Hi all I have been contacted by The Grate South East to do a story on out Vintage Caravans and holidaying in Caravans Parks They wont to do a shoot on June 11 for airing on 6 July. They will be at the Beachmere Caravan park from 10 - 3 on the 11th and would like as many vintage van as we can get.. I do realize that this is a Wednesday and will be just impossible for some of us but that is the day that was set by the Station. If you have any questions please send me a message or Contact Karoline on carolinecampbell03@bigpond.com. I do realize we don't have much time to do this so I would appreciate it if you have a think about it and get back to one of us ASAP.. We need at least 4 van's.... Thanks Suzann

"Looks like you guys had a great time. Just goes ta show ya dont need an army of vans to have a great time." Reddo[/quote] Makes you wonder just how wrong one man can be..... ;D ;D We were all decked out... One teardrop, one Army van and one deck.. they must have known we were coming. ;D ;D ;D ;D On Saturday night Matt said that he was doing a loo run and wanted to know if anyone else wanted to go... Well two girls jumped at the chance, I went along just to keep an eye on them. the girls stood up and looked out the hatches yelling out to the other campers. I will not name names but we do hope that someone brings there wife along again as she was just so much fun.. Yelling out "Loo run does any one want to come".... As usual we all had a great time and we all got into the conversation of when and where the next gathering will be. I will post the Possible place for late August later in the week. Suzann and Matt

Hey Schultzy Was that you driving a huge yank truck in Esk last Sat arvo? Ya cut me off!!! Ray
As if we would run anyone off the road. Matt is a good driver. You would not have lived to tell the tail if it was us. We had the Val that weekend as a tow car anyway.
I have noticed some chatter about number plates. I am not sure if this will help but the plate on this old girl is QR 1940.The lovely people who have her ( ;D for now ;D )thought she was a 1940s van built by Queensland Rail.

Hi Reddo
I think that Matt and I will have to disagree with your last post.
{If you intend taking extended trips .. say a week or two you would be better off with a full sized van. something that has a good sized bed that you can actually lay in without having to sleep with your head under your armpit. Its no fun being uncomfortable when ya on holidays.}
I think we proved it at wintersun with our trip home to get our teardrop. Matt and I spend long holidays in the teardrop and love every one of them. I don't think we will ever use the full sized van for a holiday.

Gday guys and dolls I will start by clarifying that you can get insurance for your vintage van only if your car is insured thru them as geoff & jude have just mentioned it appears as if we were ill informed as usual ;D, they appear to even have differant categories ,i.e. bondwood built{ESPECIALLY FOR REDDO}, ;D ;D also teardrops as well . The over the phone qoute for comprehensive insurance for our teardrop for an estimated value of $7000.00 was $103.79 per year this was thru shannons. Thanks Dosse for your comments re the valiant we are both looking forward to catching up at Fort Bribie ;D TTFN schultzy.

Happy new year to all forum members, Now to put a cat amongst the pigeons to answer greenies question suzann just got off the phone from our insurer SHANNONS and they told her that our vintage caravan even though it is fully registered is not covered by our car insurance the only things that our insurance will cover are box trailers and car trailers etc. They stated that there are no legalities from towing a vintage van behind your older automobile so the story that greenie has been told appears to be nothing more than a load of bull#### as mentioned by dennis aka jailbar. i will mention that they were keen on insuring our 1941 BREN GUN carrier ;D ;D maybe dennis this should go into another thread? cheers schultzy ;D

If you go to Members photo album and have a look at Suzann and Matts new trardrop you will see what the gun will do. It was very smoooooth and did not require any sanding, event where the paint was cracked. Suzann

gday santa suzann and i stripped the paint on our teardrop with a heat gun and it worked a charm , the main thing to look out for is to not get the gun too close because it really heats up the surface and may ignite, also do it in a ventilated area as old oil based paints really stink ;D ;D good luck see you in a few weeks.

Hi Karen and Glen Matt and I were sad to see the van go , but we are very happy that she has gone to such a nice couple ;D ;D ;D . We know that the van will be used so much more now that she is with you two then with us. Suzann and Matt PS:- We didn't have the van up for sale but Karen got in touch with us asking if we were thinking of selling her. We relay had no use for her. This just goes to show "If you never ask...You will never know'

now that we have had the new van at Wintersun I can post some new photos. We had been keeping the reno under wraps for Wintersun 2007. The roof paint was very cracked, so off it all had to come. We like the new paint, but we are a bit concerned that we may not be able to find it in a van park. The gas bottle in not what it looks like. ;D ;D The curtain's are lost of Campbell's Soup tin's made to look like the USA flag. We think is a Andy Warhol print. We think they look good.
