Now we just have to figer out just what to do with her. she still has her number plate QR 1948. We had the same problem in our Tear drop. I even tried leaving the door open but still got all the water on the roof. Then one day I was looking in a camping mag and they had battery operated fans for your tent. The idea is to put them on the window and depending on which side you put them (in side or out side) they will pull the air in or out of your tent and the battery pack is on a long cord so you can put is somewhere dry. I now use one of them in my roof hatch and have never had a problem again. They are made by Coleman. They do have two types one with lights and one without. They are about $45 but worth every cent to get rid on the drip problem. You can get them from BCF and Tent World. I hope this helps you. Suzann

Maybe,
If Bondwood vans,Myvan,Marilyn,Pink poodle were to make an appearance at one of our south east queensland events, they could possibly enlighten there extremely addictive interest in the vintage caravan movement.

Gday Reddo, To add this coupe ute to the collection we would have to part with the blitz radio van which the owner has showed interest in the past in aquiring but back then i said that i would happily trade for a running 42 wla ;D ;D to which there was no further comment. I once found one of these utes in a paddock at Yelarbon near Inglewood on the way to Goondy, i did buy it and brought it home with me but had to sell it on due to being too rough for my restoration skills at that time . An unfortunate side to this story was that there was some indian scout frames and parts in a shed nearby and my interest in motorbikes wasn't sparked until a couple of years later bummer . P.S. we have just reset the rear springs in 1940 master deluxe in preparation to tow the teardrop to cunungra i hope ;D TTFN Schultzy.

We are with Shannon's....... and they did pay out, very quickly. The quote was $9,860 to fix her. I sold her for $2,000 so we did very well when you add the pay out from Shannons. The damage was very bad, its all the things you cant see in the photo that cost the most to fix. The man who has her now will fix her. We were thinking of selling her and getting something else anyway, so one could say it was good timing. The man we took it to asked me if I wonted him to fix it and I said no so it was written off. The police said we were lucky we had a Val and not a new car. The truck would have just run over us in a new car, not dragged us along with him like he did. The Val saved me from much worse injuries. Had my shoulder fixed last week and that was the only injury we go. Suzann

Must admit it does look a bit like one of our new cars but it is black not green. We still have the Blitz And looks good towing the van It now looks like this and got best Staff Car at the Jeep Show last weekend, looks like the car at Dosse's place but with ARMY markings. Thinking about it.. the car at Dosse's place is our car.... just in the middle of its new look. Suzann and Matt,

Well ....... the Val had a bit of a fight with a truck on Ipswich road back in May and the Val and my shoulder lost, The Val was a right off and my shoulder had a opp on Tuesday so it should be OK. We were lucky we were in the Val as the truck would have just run over a new car. Suzann and Matt

Gday Gordon, Great to see another vintage van devotee brave enough to tow a teardrop with an ex military vehicle ;D ;D, I have never been a great fan of the Recycled SPITFIRES ;D due to experiences in the ARMY and unfortunately having to often work on them as a civvy , but they did a sterling service in the vietnam conflict and are a legend. Anyways enough rambling for the moment and congrats. Schultzy.

Hi Mad Matt and I had to do a clean up at my mums place the other week. ( well it took 4 weeks and 3 skips and lots of trips to the tip and we are not finished yet ). But we found lost of original curtain material. I will be taking photos and putting them all up for offer on this site. We have lost of stuff that is very old and just right for the vintage vans so I will keep you posted. All I need is the time to take the photos and put them up on the net..... Time..... Such a very hard thing to come by...

Gday Franklin,
While i dont claim to be an expert, i have been around the vintage aircraft seen my whole life, and have been involved with quite a few restorations.
Traditionally the fabric would either be irish linen or cotton and this would be doped/glued to the surface using an acetate butyrate type dope as well as the fabric being stitched or stapled to the rib/wing surface and then ironed to tauten up the fabric, Stits make a modern polyfibre for some applications but some restorers prefer the traditional finish. After the application has been completed it is then sealed and painted/cleared.
Our teardrop was originally canvas covered but it was in reasonable condition so i just primered and repainted the whole roof.
Hope this sheds some light on the subject.
Cheers Schultzy.

Hi all Well saying that the 9th SE QLD get together was a success would be a understatement. Chatting to everyone a very very good time was had by all and the newbies will all be back. this was our biggest turnout yet, at this rate by the time we get to the 20th we will be booking out caravan parks. Lets face it the turnout was great the company was great the park was great the food was great and a great time was had by all. Including a few men who ended up in one ladies dress ;D The view from the top looking down on all our vans. the girls having a cool swim in the creek. You may notice that one person only has one foot out of the water. They said that they are to short to put both of them out of the water at once. .... We have not quite figured out the logic of this but we all had so much fun ;D ;D sorry we did not take more photos but we were just having such a good time we forgot to get the camera out.
