Hi Suzann and Matt, In many ways I would say it looks like an early sixties Roma (perhaps 63-64?). But the front window is unlike Roma's I have seen. There were vans built in Quennsland that looked a bit like this, Murrumba Stars, but I haven't seen enough of them this early to know. Cheers, Gristy

Hi Suzann and Matt, When I first looked at the shape of this van, it reminded me of the Fleetwinds... The side of 'yours' is similar to the side of the 1962 Fleetwind...same window shape and layout; position of power inlet socket; style of clearance lamp at front top; shape of wheel arch. Front appearance is obviously different, however the front of the late 1950s Fleetwind is similar. Only problem is that from what we know so far about Fleetwinds, they only made full aluminium-clad vans, and yours appears to be plywood/bondwood sides (??) with ali over top. So, not conclusive, but certainly along the same lines as a Fleetwind. cheers, Al.

As if we would run anyone off the road. Matt is a good driver. You would not have lived to tell the tail if it was us. We had the Val that weekend as a tow car anyway.
I have noticed some chatter about number plates. I am not sure if this will help but the plate on this old girl is QR 1940.The lovely people who have her ( ;D for now ;D )thought she was a 1940s van built by Queensland Rail.

Now we just have to figer out just what to do with her. she still has her number plate QR 1948. She is out side for the first time in over 30 years and we just don't know what will have to go out in the weather to get her under cover... Suzann
