We've booked the car in, but haven't booked accommodation yet Need to pull our finger out, but are just waiting on the name of a caravan park a friend stays at. We normally stay at Boyd's Bay, but it would be great if we could just set up camp with the car.

We now have the L/R 1/4 panel and roof in 2k primer and the custom rear roll pan with rego plate recess is welded on. The guards and bonnet are all under way. Once they are done we have to trial fit all the panels and get all the gaps nice. Very time consuming but we are getting there slowly. Cheers John

We now have 2k primer on the r/h 1/4 panel and doors. The body is flipped over to the other side and welding finished on the l/h 1/4. Roof is nearly done. We should have the whole cab in primer by the end of the week.

Underside is all sprayed with stoneguard now. Will get some thick gloss black over that tomorrow. Then we can get it right way up again and start on the 1/4 panels and custom roll pan . Didn't plan on doing any work on the floor but this is typical of an old car once you strip it right back. There are always unexpected surprises. . It's only money Doug. he he.

The tray's looking good Dave. I like the rear guards too. We found your front bumper hanging on the wall right in front of us . We searched everywhere else first ! Should get it straightened and painted next week. The bonnet and front guards are ready. John

All parts are in epoxy now. We rolled the shell onto it's side and spent the day replacing inner sill and cutting out rust in the floor etc. Should have the underside finished and stonegaurd sprayed next week. Cheers John

Another one to add to the list. Millmerran Rod Run , easter weekend. I think everyone enjoyed it last year. $10 to enter . Free feed on Friday night. Gold coin breakfast in the mornings. Cruising the cars around the park with games, grass driving events and a show and shine in town. A really good weekend ! We will be going ! John and Dianne
Ps if anyone requires an entry form just message me and I will send you one.

Hi all, as we have never been down that far we are relying on others to put up a route. We have no idea what the roads are like so will trust the judgement of others. Glad to hear we should have someone (at least) to travel with Banno. Maybe more will contribute shortly Dianne

Hi everyone, yes I have been very slack with the photos. Jellybean has been on two outings late last year, but it is still not finished. So much to do, so little time We are waiting on an old kitchen hutch to arrive that we are going to use as the kitchen AND THEN the cool tap can go in Iris :-) John spent the weekend doing little odd jobs on the exterior of the van, and other than the two tone that is pretty much complete. Will pull my finger out and post more photos soon. Dianne

Hi all, is everyone from this end of the woods planning on leaving on Monday or is someone going later in the week? I had only asked for 1 week off work, but am sure I could stretch it to the Thursday, and Friday before as well, and then Wednesday being a public holiday we were hoping to leave then. Is anybody else working on this timetable? Would love to be able to make the full two weeks, but with my work and John's shop, it just isn't possible. Thanks, Dianne

Hi Hilldweller
Congratulations your van looks amazing. I love your choice of colours - it really suits it. You've done a fantastic job on the inside too - what a huge achievement. I have a girlfriend that's doing up an old van, so I think I'll have to get her to read your thread for some inspiration and encouragement.
Are you North or South Island?
Cheers, Dianne

Well ... Christmas and New Years is all over. Hope everyone had a good time as we did at Kenilworth. All up we had about 16 vans stay, even if it was just for a couple of days for some. We were really lucky with the weather and the temperature was near perfect the whole time. The little valley we had all to ourselves was echoing with laughter every day and night. I think Christmas day was great, very relaxed with plenty of food and drink for all, and leftovers for a couple more meals. The secret santa was a hit, with people having the choice of a present or stealing one off someone else. Lots of laughs! Some said it was the best christmas they had for years, without all the pressure and family quarrels. We have booked the same powered area again for this year, so we hope to see you guys there. Thanks to everyone that came along, helped out and made it a success.
Also a huge thank you must go to all that helped out with our sickie friends (all better now although Barbara is still in hospital)
Cheers John and Dianne

Happy New Year to you and your family too Cathy. It's a pity you couldn't have made it up here, but the feedback from everyone here has been so positive that I think it will be an annual event. We have been very fortunate with the weather - only two wet days when we first arrived and no rain since. We have been here for just over a week now and have really started to relax. Different ones have been and gone and a couple more expected in today. It has been a great week :-)
See you in the new year Dianne & John

To all that are going to Kenilworth, Take a few chocks and pieces of wood to level your vans. Dianne is up there today and said it was a bit more slopey than she remembered in the powered area. Will see you there . John
