Hi all, Well here is the information on what I think will be the first “Girls Only” weekend away. Please note the change of date. Now on Friday 7th to Sunday 9th Septemberat Golden Beach Holiday Park at Caloundra 9 Onslow Street Golden Beach (Caloundra) Tel: 07 5492 4811 The Park Managers (Rick & Barbara) are very friendly and relaxed, they don’t have a huge list of rules. The holiday park is a smaller park but clean and quiet. It has a pool, a camp kitchen with gas bbq’s and is dog friendly. It is close to the shops and approx 100 metres from the beach. The Power Boat Club is within walking distance or courtesy buses will pick up from the park for the RSL Club & Bowls Club. The cost should be $35 per night, but they have dropped the rate to $30 per night for us. I have booked a block of 18 sites, so we can all be in a group together. When booking, please mention that you are with Vintage Caravans, to ensure you get one of our sites and receive the discount. A $30 deposit is required when booking. For those ladies that are not too confident about parking/reversing your van onto the site. Don’t worry about it as:- • the grass sites all have concrete slabs and everything is very level; • the sites are not (as such) designated as drive through sites, but you can drive through them all ok; • we can disconnect your van and push it onto the spot • Rick the manager is happy to park the van for you • you’ve got 7 months to practice your towing and reversing skills, so you can get it right on the day. !! Caloundra has 2 markets, lots of charity shops, a tip shop and numerous garage sales – so we should have the shopping side of things covered ok. ;D ;D I realise that this event is situated up in SEQ, but any female members (and their friends) from around the country are welcome to come along. You can even fly in and book a cabin if you wish. Regards Di

Cathie, Why would you want it to be no annex, no poles, no unhitching of van, no bbqs etc ?? Just because the men aren't going to be there, doesn't mean that we can't set up our vans without them. No doubt it will be much harder to visit, the charity shops, markets, garage sales, tip shop etc, if you still have the van attached ;D ;D ;D Regards Di

Hi Di
I thought I'd go to the charity shops, markets, garage sales, tip shop etc in your car, (seeing you're offering) after I've relaxed in my one chair & watched you set up your annex (specially seeing the Castle doesn't actually have an annex or poles si I don't need to bother).
Then after those little trips you can drive all us girls down to the club for a great counter tea.
Sounds like a beaut relaxing weekend thanks Di!!!

Hi All, Sharon - glad to hear that you will be joining us. Pete - I have missed you heaps, so you are more than welcome to join us - i'm sure you will look great in a dress, stockings, high heels, wig and makeup ;D ;D ;D Hopefully the rest of the people staying in the park won't mind a bit of cross dressing Don't forget to bring your best girlfriend Trish. Smiles - very very funny - I had a great belly laugh about being your chauffeur. Once I have my van at the park, I might just take my car back home - I can walk to the park from my place F/F - thanks so much for that link. Glad to see that I have been reversing in the correct manner - but there is no way that I could have instructed anyone to reverse in such a simple and straight forward way. Hilldweller - Dianne has made a great suggestion. Why don't you book a flight and come over here and join us. Also i'm very glad to hear on the grapevine that various ladies are secretly practising their towing and reversing skills. I'm sure come September that you will all be comptent towing and reversing specialists. ;D ;D ;D Regards Di

Dianne and Di - thanks for the invitation. Not a good time of year for me to get away unfortunately but maybe another time. It would be great to meet you and see your vans.
Oh and the secret to reversing is to practice somewhere quiet with lots of space where there is NOT a bloke yelling helpful advice at you.

Towed with the Zephyr, funny, funny, actually I''m playing the dumb blonde card (which is getting easier with age) and Steve's taking the caravan and parking it for me then going home. Bless his little cotton socks. He thought he would provide some entertainment with his caravan parking just for Di.

Sharon Don't worry about Steve bringing the van up for you and parking it - to give us all a laugh ;D ;D I get the impression that a few of the guys might be doing the same. Gee, they just can't stay away and I would have thought they would be glad to have a weekend away from us. ;D ;D Having said that, all the girls have another 6 months to practice towing their vans before the girls weekend, so it's shouldn't be a problem to tow the van yourself. And don't worry about getting it parked on the site - that won't be a problem. Di

Hi Stacey,
Glad to hear that you can make it.
Silverbullet. Sorry but the whole idea of this weekend is to get away and have a break from the kids and the men (Hence the name "Girls Only". So no, nobody will be bringing their kids with them.
Regards Di
P.S. Am away now for the next 10 days, so don't expect to log on until after I return ;D ;D

Sigh of relief!! I must be getting old.
Thanks for the " Parking your Van" website, it's still easier to watch a man parking, Steve will watch it later, think he's trying to impress you Di so watch you don't park near him if you want your caravan to stay in pristine condition. Have a good weekend all. Regards Sharon

Hi All,
Just a quick note to let you know there has been a date change for the "Girls Only" weekend at Caloundra in September.
We will now be going away on the 7th & 8th September.
I have contacted all those members that have already booked or shown interest in attending. And have altered the bookings at the caravan park accordingly.
Regards Di
