Saturday 26th May 2012 - Pine Rivers Park Strathpine. We did this as an event last year with 10 + vans and most said they were keen to go again in 2012. The Rodz Rock N Roll Event is part of the week long Pine Rivers Festival with Saturday 26th May being their biggest day with a classic car show (300 + classic cars and hot rods last year) plenty of stalls and great rock and roll music from morning till app 9pm at night. Cost is $ 10 entry with proceeds going to the Rotary Club of Albany Creek. Last year we met at the Strathpine train station just up the road and drove in convoy to the event parking in our own area at the rear which made it easy to park the vans as well as a good spot to relax for the day. Pre Registration is required with details being released in February and I'll get the official flyers out to veryone then. The official website is below. www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/carreads.aspxLocated at Pine Rivers Park, Gympie Road Strathpine (1 k off the Bruce Highway at the Bald Hills turnoff.) I know it is still a few months off but put your names on here so we can give the organisers some numbers closer to the day. Even if you just want to bring your classic car/hot rod and not the van book on here as it will help keep our group together. Rollydog

Jellybean is always being improved. It is a little gem. That gives me about 4 months to get the Hunter driving straight so I can tow the Munro down. Rollydog

Hi, We would love to come along too, but I have a couple of questions - does anyone know....
Do you need to have a classic car too, or can you roll up with the old van behind a modern car?
Also, if we don't need power, can we stay there overnight and head back home Sunday morning?
Thanks!
Linda

Linda. To my knowledge they don't allow camping there overnight. I'll check on the tow car requirement but I think because it is a primarily a classic car show they expect the tow car to be pre 1980. Rollydog

Hi, we were wondering what peoples thoughts are about making this an overnighter at Lawnton Showgrounds after the show. Only about a 10 minute drive up the road. What do you all think? Dianne & John

Here is the link to registering for this event. Please complete this and send it in to the organisers. Remember the entry fee is for charity and with the Delltones & other great bands playing, some great cars on display it is certainly value for money and a great once a year event for Vintage Caravans. There are no gates so maybe we could just stay. There are toilets nearby and if you have 12v lights or torches what else do you need. Most of us have gas barbecues so cooking won't be a problem. It's a public park so we should be able to park there. Who says we can't have nanna nap? I don't think we will get arrested!

UPDATE ON THE EVENT, DRIVE IN MOVIE & CAMPINGDRIVE IN MOVIE FRIDAY 25TH MAYAs part of the festival the Council is hosting a free drive in movie night at Pine Rivers Park on the Friday night before the main event. Full details follow the link. www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/subsite.aspx?id=87863Gates open 5.30pm Movie commences 7.00pm Cost $ 5 per car ROCK N RODZ SATURDAY 26TH MAY Pre registration for this event is required by 18th May. Follow this link for full details and to register. www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/subsite.aspx?id=67679Cost is $10 per car (including van ) but this goes to the Rotary Club so a good community group benefits from the day. Meeting at Strathpine Train station car park, Station Street just off Gympie Road (This is the fenced car park closer to Gympie Road & not generally used on Saturdays) Meeting there at 10.30am Leaving 10.50am for the short drive to the park in convoy. Last year we were hampered by the quick traffic light changes allowing 2 vans a time to cross Gympie road but I have an idea I’ll run past everyone on the day that should keep everyone together. We will be parked in the same area as last year (last row just inside the gates) and the organisers have said they have allocated enough area for those with a second car to park them with the vans. Cars need to remain there till at least 5.30pm BUT the chance to listen to great rock and roll music amongst your caravanning friends you may want to stay till the fireworks at 9pm. CAMPING No camping is possible overnight at the site BUT Those that are travelling from a distance away have indicated they would like to stay close by for the night. The Pine Rivers Show Grounds, just up Gympie road at Lawnton have allocated an area for us if needed. $20 per van for the night but they have good amenities and showers there. If we get a few vans wanting to stay some of us locals may go in as well so we can all relax with a drinkie or two and a leisurely escape back to normality the next day. I just need to have a rough idea on numbers for camping but this great day out could become a great weekend away for the group. Any inquiries post them here or pm me or direct contact 0417 620877 BUT remember you must pre register vie the link above. Rod G aka Rollydog PS:- If you don't want to bring your van but enjoy Rock N Roll music and catching up with our members just pull up in the other car parks and walk in and enjoy the day with the group.

I've got some new wheels to show off on the Munro at this event. Now they match the car. Genuine Sankey Benson alloys (Chrysler dealer option wheels for the Hillman - 4 stud and Valiants 5 stud) Fitted up some new white walls so it will look a treat on the day. Rollydog

UPDATE You only have till 18th May to book for this event vie the link above. Remember you just book in your car for 11am arrival The $10 entry fee goes towards the Rotary Club of Albany Creek.
There is also the option of camping on the Saturday night at the Pine Rivers Show grounds just down the road at Lawnton. Normally these gates are locked after dark but the Show grounds Caretakers this morning offered me a key for our group and an area close to the gate, power and toilets so it is easy to enter, get settled and enjoy a few drinkies with those not wanting to travel home .
