Hi guys.Renos are way behind schedule.Things move kind of slowly down here. It`s a case of 'when we see you'.Roofing took nearly 12 months to sort after purchasing.Because of that i ended up with half finished areas of the place.So....ahead of me now is to finish bathroom (gal mini orb walls with decorative lengths of huon pine pieces done.Pressed metal ceiling panels to do) & laundry (foldaway louvre doors done.Fitting a lower sloping internal corrugated iron roof over doors.3 bedrooms to do.Dining/lounge to do.But things are happening....took out the stupid double glass sliding door between dining & lounge. Also the stupid double glass fire doors leading from lounge (9.5m x 4.5m stone wall with window section) to loading dock which is the front 11m x 10m weather board section of building.I also removed the roller door from front of loading dock & replaced with the original gal mini orb slide barn door c/o the rear of double garage. (the double garage has that sign above it). Just bought some custom orb sheeting in Surf Mist colour to clad over the weather boards as a number are beyond saving & given the weather down here it cops the brunt of wind/rain.Colour isn`t that far removed from original.Picked up a gorgeous antique timber fireplace surround/mantle mirror ex old hotel in Strahan.Once i get the hang of the the photo thingy & sort out 'w i n 10' i`ll put up some pics.As always any one venturing this way feel free to drop in.Oh,had my cataracts done.Bloody beauty...i can see clearly now! cheers gordo I should point out that we don`t have ozone layer here....when its hot its bleeding hot.....you get direct sun heat.....if its 25 it may as well be 35.....if its 35, may as well be 45.....

Hi Bri. Re garage door height - you could either let air out of tyres or buy a pair of wheel skates - (remove wheels & slip skates under hubs).Van can then be maneuvered around to your hearts delight and depending on garage internal height/restrictions,put wheels back on.

Hi Mel.I have 2 pairs of quality 'old school' brass latches....small pair measure 90mm centre to centre....that is: the holes in the hanger section to the holes in the hook section.(the piece that yours shows broken). The second pair equally good quality measure 140mm centre to centre. However whilst yours are diamond shape, these ones are oval.Anyways, yours if you want them.I`m on west coast. gordo Maybe this might be of help also: Australias largest woodworking forum..... 'Woodworking Australia Woodwork Forums'.some 100k members...has numerous sub-forums including Foundry.Sign up for access. Also maybe check out Tafe locations that might do Foundry classes?

Gday Pete. Good to see you`re still lurking about..How`s your reno going? The digs are progressing albeit slowly.Funny thing down here,no one seems to be in any hurry which does tick me off at times. The trades are here but they`ll do things only when they want to.Flip side is its great to be living here. One thing I have noticed is there`s no pollution.Certainly plenty of log fires burn down here but the air is still very fresh.First time in years I have to wear sunnies also.Quite glarey & the sun does have a bite to it,even at 20 degrees.Rain? Get a fair bit but i have sufficient things to do to not need to worry about it.Anyways you`re welcome anytime you feel a trip over the Strait coming on. cheers gordo

Hi Cardygeorge.Interesting resto progress. There are many material protection products. One of the best is POR-15.Painted on steel frame it sets rock solid.

You could get a glazier to cut you a circular piece of glass the size of the opening. Then cut two timber rings - the inner diameter smaller than the glass diameter.Slip glass into opening.Bead of silastic around it.Paint & drill fixing holes in timber then fit corresponding timber rings - interior/exterior - rings could be made from metal or aluminium also.

Hi Vanessa. You`d need a decent wad of folding money for an Airstream. Better off checking out good old Aussie built Caraparks. Have a look in our "Whatever" section > "Commercial & non Touring Caravans". Might give you a better idea of what can/has been done. cheers

Sure looks like a Luxory.I think the reason why the wheel arch looks higher in Matches pics is that its missing the strip of timber below the rear of wheel. As mentioned these `vans would later end up being hired out which might explain the #5 plate top left of door opening. What were the brackets front towards top edge & tall bracket above window used for/as? Was the painted picture & name on door done by Matches grandfather or was it done by other to represent 'fun times at the beach' or such like? Cute van though.
