Hi All, I'm very excited to have just purchased my first Caravan, a 1968 Roadmaster. It's all the more special as it has only ever had one owner (my grandparents) who have kept it in absolutely immaculate condition and of course I have some fond childhood memories of camping with them. I am an absolute novice when it comes to caravanning (I've always loved camping, but until now, I've only owned a tent!), so I thought it best to say hi and introduce myself as I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions along the way and I know I have a steep learning curve! It's been pretty much garaged (on blocks) since the 80's and as I live over 2 hours away, I've arranged for a truck to transport it to my local caravan service centre. I just measured the entrance to my garage and it's not high enough to get the van in (devastated!) so I'll have to look for a place to keep it out of the elements. The next item on my list is to sell my little hatchback and buy a car that I can tow it with!! We've been able to find all sorts of documents for it (original purchase documents, etc.) but the one piece of information I can't find is the weight? Could any Roadmaster owners please help me with a rough estimate? I've been trying to call Roadmaster in Adelaide, but they must be off on their own summer adventures It's a 16foot single-axle Aluminium Roadmaster Luxury Liner manufactured in November 1968. It has a fibreglass roof. I also welcome any hints, tips, advice etc.... bring it on Thanks, Bri

Hi Geoff 'n Jude,
Wow great to see the transformation of your Roadmaster - very inspirational! And thanks for the info re the weight. Mine looks similar to yours on the outside (minus that amazing paint job!).
Thanks, Bri

Hi Bri. Re garage door height - you could either let air out of tyres or buy a pair of wheel skates - (remove wheels & slip skates under hubs).Van can then be maneuvered around to your hearts delight and depending on garage internal height/restrictions,put wheels back on.

Hello & welcome !. What a beautiful van & how lucky are you? I'm sure you have already discovered the thread on Roadmaster caravans, but just in case, here it is: vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/2032/roadmaster-caravans-south-australiaA really stylish & well appointed van but I believe they are reasonably heavy. Your best bet is to pop it over a weighbridge & then you will know for sure. Look forward to seeing some photos & hope to see you out on the road soon. Cheers, SGTL
