Hi all,
Quote "thank you all for your patience and your inputs.
our system requires that if a thread/post is moved from the forum, it remains moved until all the moderators/administrators have given their opinions and a consensus is reached on any further action.
this is part of the democratic system for forum administration.
due to the difficulty of moderator access, consensus may take a "little" time.
as a result of the process, reddos thread has been restored to the events section.
conti, for the moderating team." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've only just logged on and so have no doubt missed out on all the ins and outs of things.
I'm not trying to prolong the agony. And I understand that the mods have returned this thread back onto the forum - thank you.
But can someone (the mods preferably) explain why on earth it would have been taken down off the forum in the first place.
There are numerous occassions (especially up in QLD) where we have more than one event on at the same time (take this weekend just gone as an example) and everyone just chooses which one they can go to depending on their circumstances, availability, distance to be travelled etc etc.
Is it just because this event will clash with The Nationals???!!!
Regards Di

Hi Richard,
Congratulations on purchasing a great van.
Judging by the standard of your workmanship on your other vans, I know that this van is in very safe hands.
All the best Di

Hi all, Having too much trouble with photobucket at the moment to put up any photos. But let me just say we had a great weekend at Tenterfield. We drove to Phil & Louise's house on Wednesday afternoon and had a great night catching up with everyone. Then we left in convoy on Thursday morning and met up with Stephen & Julie on route and slowly meandered to Tenterfield. We stopped at a great Retro and Vintage sale on the way (we all purchased some items/bargains) and also stopped at a lovely little village for a picnic lunch. It was lovely to see 3 differently style of vans travelling together (Fibreglass, Aluminium & Bondwood). We all pulled into Tenterfiled about 3.30pm on Thursday in time to set up, shower and put on warm clothes ready for a chilly night. Most of the other vans started rolling into town from Friday lunchtime onwards. With a few more arriving on Saturday. We all had a great get together over dinner in the camp kitchen on the Friday & Saturday nights with lots and lots of laughs. The park managers gave us an extention til 10o'clock for lights out in the camp kitchen, which was great as we needed the extra hour ;D ;D Many thanks to Dicky for the Tiger Prawns - they were fantastic I think most of us managed to visit the one and only garage sale in town as well as the charity, 2nd hand and antique shops and yet again purchased quite a few items. We also visited the local tourist stops as well as a couple of the nationals parks. So we have definately helped the Tenterfield ecomony. Tenterfield and the surrounding area is just beautiful at this time of year with the leaves changing colour and the sky bluer than blue - it was breathtaking !!!! It was really great catching up with everyone again and we were sorry to have to leave the rest of the group and go home yesterday afternoon, but work awaits. I'm sure the rest of the trip will be fantastic. All the best Di & Paul

Doug, Phil & Louise and Paul & I will arrive at Tenterfield on Thursday, if you want to come down there early and join us.
Stacey, You are just making certain that you come to Tenterfield again this year as you want a repeat conversation about your sex education classes in school ;D ;D ;D

Hi Stevo1,
Whereabouts are you situated please?
Can you please give me the measurements of the annex and an idea of how many rips there are and whereabouts on the annex they are?
Also do you have an idea of how much you want for the annex?
Not sure if you know as yet how to send a PM (Personal Message)? But if you just click on the 1954homemade name (in blue) on the left hand side, it will show a different screen shot. Then just click on the Send Personal Message (in blue) in the middle and you will be able to reply to me personally.
Many thanks Diane

Dear Sue, Here's hoping that you have a great birthday. I'll have a drink with you on the weekend to celebrate. Doesn't time fly - it's hard to believe that it was a year ago that I presented you with a Pavlova for your Birthday, when we were on the pre tour to Cowra. Thanks Geoff & Jude for the film clip. It just goes to show that I must have been "dragged up proper" as I already know all the items mentioned with regard to the correct way to eat food. By as you have gathered I was also taught that it is perfectly fine - infact a great idea - to pick up a meat bone in your hands and eat the rest of the meat off the bone. The tastiest bits are closest to the bone Thanks to Clyde for putting up that picture (again) of us eating the great pea and ham soup that Clyde and Barb made at Wadesville - gee that was a few years ago now. Luv Di xx

Hi Tory,
Glad that your sister and brother in law were able to check the van out for you.
I recently looked at purchasing an Olympic from Nambour (from a couple, one who is sick) it was described as great condition, no leaks even in the recent bad weather we have had. When I got there it had leaks all over the place. Water pooling below both beds. The fibreglass had been sandblasted and there were tiny holes all over the body, also lots of warping of the sides and cracks in the fibreglass around the door.
Sounds like you have everything organised so hopefully it will be an uneventful trip for you.
Regards Di
P.S. I have also sent you a PM.

Hi Tory, When I have previously been looking at moving a van from Vic to QLD, I was also told that you needed permits for all 3 states. So if you can get away with a 28 day permit from Vic Roads, go for it as QLD Transport can be somewhat difficult at times. Also you may already have this covered. But unless you have already seen the van or someone you know and trust has seen the van, there is no way that I would tow it from Qld to VIC without thoroughly checking out (atleast) the chassis, wheels, tryes, brakes, bearings, windows and window fixings, roof hatch etc etc. I definately would not 100% trust the word of the seller. This comes from personal experience, I have now purchased 5 vans and potentially purchased another 8 (that were supposed to be in great towable condition) only to find out that they were nothing like towable condition. As a female a long way from home, you don't want to find yourself in the position of purchasing a van that isn't able to be towed safely. Ensure that you have it insured before you leave home and make sure that you have RACQ (or equivalent) top road cover as well and hopefully your trip will go without any major hassles. Good Luck By the way whereabouts in QLD are you picking the van up from. you might find that there is a forum member living close by that can go and have a look at the van for you. Regards Di

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Ilse, she was such a lovely person.
The Vint Van world in fact the planet will not be the same without Ilse.
May you all take comfort in knowing that an angel is watching over you all.

Hi All, Ok well it's like this. We can't do the whole "Toads and Roaches" trip as we are already taking leave to go away on a Cruise. But as we would hate to completely miss out - please count us in on the Tenterfield weekend portion of this run - thanks. I have already phoned Julie & Jim and booked in. We will be arriving in Tenterfield on either the Wednesday or Thursday - is anyone else going to be there that early??? Regards Di & Paul

Hi Peter & Kelly.
If only I knew last week, I was down in Sydney for work and could have bought it down with me.
If might be an idea if you mention whereabouts in QLD the annex is situated at, in case anyone that lives by can help.
Good luck

Hi Max, I realise that Col has already replied and knowing that he is a very great font of information, perhaps I shouldn't say anything But it could be worthwhile measuring stud to stud (centre to centre) and if it measures 205mm then it could be an early VW commonly known as Wide 5 - meaning 5 stud, 205mm apart. Dear Will & Lyn,
So glad to hear that you are going to get out and about again and that you will be taking your music with you.
I remember Mt Gambier very well - we all had a great time being entertained by you both at the Pub.
Let me know if you plan on being up in QLD whilst on your travels. The SEQ crowd get together on a very regular basis and have lots of fun.
Take care Luv Di

Hi Barb,
I would think that it would - it's seems to have worked on everything that I have tried so far.
Along the same lines as Sharon. Depending on how bad, I cut up a lemon or half lemon into quarters and put it in the kettle with water to boil. Once it has boiled I leave it in the kettle for approx 10-15 mins until it is clean, I then pour the boiled lemon liquid into any of my cups and mugs that have any marks and leave it to cool down - my mugs then also come out being clean and looking like new.
The boiled lemon liquid also works well on your sinks and bath ;D

Hi all,
Everyone left Bargara ok.
Most of the group left on Thursday morning after some flooding on Wednesday night.
Paul & I and Phil & Louise stayed at Bargara for another night. Cathie & Rob moved to Burnett Heads and their daughter booked into a motel at Bargara.
Cathie & Rob, Phil & Louise and ourselves left on Friday morning after another extremely wet night with very high winds. The turtles was cancelled so I expect that Cathie & Rob's daughter would have also left to drive home.
So luckily we left when we did as we would have been right in the thick of it in our vans.
Now we are about to be right in the thick of it, but at home.
Our thoughts are with anyone effected by this bad weather.
Luv Di xx
