Good to see you're back into that roof. Always surprising what you might find under the skin of any of these vans. Noq that you have the bare bones of the roof exposed, can I suggest you paint the ribs now if you want to feature them in a different colour to the rest of the eventual ceiling. I did that with my Rowvan and painted the softboard panels before installing them too. Made that job much easier and it looked great when finished.
Good luck with it all

Also be aware that often cupboards, especially overhead cupboards gave structural integrity to the van. If removing overheads, I would brace the roof so that you don't end up with surprises like a bowed roof!!!

What a shame, sportsman. I know of a Glen which is going the same way. Just keep trying, you never know.

HI DonR
Unfortunately a restoration of my photos is really not possible, as I took them off P/Bucket as well.

Hi Humpynvan
I am so sorry to hear of your health situation and wish you the very best.
Probably the reason people aren't commenting on values, is in part due to the forum guidelines, that we just don't do that. The other reason is because values of vintage caravans is such a nebulous thing. Was talking to another forum member this week and hearing of prices being paid for Sunliners, just blows me away. Probably the Shannon's insurance value would be a good starting point for you, because you have done an excellent restoration job on that TD.
All the very best to you and your family
Ray

Would have though the 8/9mm ply would be adequate, depending on the size of the doors. If in doubt, perhaps some 15x30mm quad as false framing behind it would reinforce things on the bigger doors?

While doing a bit of free camping a few days ago, I espied this caravan. It's a 1962 Chesney, which, according to the current owner, was especially built for a member of the Chesney family as a tandem caravan. As this van was the current owner's home, I did not take interior shots.

Just to put my old friend cobber's mind at ease, the hinges on the kitchen cupboard doors have not had the screw heads painted over and definitely had slot-head screws used on them

what wheels are on a 1969 viscount alumvan? thankyou in advance......bob Have you checked the size shown on the tyre? Over the years people change the wheels from the original, so you really need to look at what you have there rather than relying on forum advice on this.

A good question and one that hasn't really been explored extensively. I do know that some manufacturers used to sell the shell of the caravan and you did the fitouts yourself. Not really sure about brands etc. As well, magazines like Popular Mechanics used to have plans in them, from which you could build your own caravan.

Methinks it's time for a reveal. This could be virtually any caravan park in NSW!

Hi SGTL
I've not used this particular tape myself, so can't give any feedback on it. It seem to be quite wide at 100mm!
I used the 50mm fibreglassing tape and feathered the resin several times, when working on the Rowvan, and PhilandLouise can give you feedback on how that's holding up after about 4 years. I haven't received any darts from them!! That Crommell stuff is for residential wert areas and is excellent for that, as I used it in my shower recess last year. But a perfect finish is not the issue there, as it is covered with tiles.
Franklin1 might chip in some valuable advice, as he has had a lot of experience in this area.

Hi HALPS. You're making good progress there!
It would be good for members to read what you actually did with the calico, including the glue and paint used. You're using a different method to what has been demonstrated on the forum, so anything new is always welcome information.

What an interesting article DonR! I recently made a similar suggestion to my Bishop, for the church to buy a caravan rig and have a circuit preacher in the country areas. So there is really nothing new under the sun. I'm going to send this article to him!!!
