Don Riccardo, do you know when this business opened as the catalogue says "they have over 12 years of experience" so that might date it more accurately.

Hi Elvie, Sorry for taking a while to respond (I've been away), but that Caravan Centre catalogue is a great find. It's amazing just to look through the various items available and read the descriptions. If only they were still operating with the same range of items, eh? They would make a lot of vintage vanners happy! Unfortunately I don't know when the SA Caravan Centre started operating. However, the photos of the fully built caravans shown in the catalogue are in most cases the same as in a Caravan Centre advert placed in the 1958 Winser - see here. Admittedly photos were often used for quite long periods of time - sometimes even when the models had changed quite dramatically - but I think it's safe to assume that the catalogue is from around the same time as the Winser advert, say 1957/8. Working backwards with the '12 years of experience' comment, that would suggest that the Caravan Centre might have started operating around 1946. The catalogue contains photos of a few caravans that we don't know a lot about - Lessur, Ritter and Viking - and the photos of the Viking and Convair are the first contemporaneous photos we have seen of those particular brands. I'll copy them to the relevant Down History Lane threads. Don Ricardo
