Hi all, A friend spotted this combination at Killarney, just near Warrnambool last weekend. I'm uncertain of the tow vehicle, perhaps someone can help? Max

Hi Bill,
Welcome to the world of Vintage Vans. What a fantastic looking and so well preserved van you have, it looks like its come straight out of the showroom .... it's an absolute credit to the previous owner(s)!!
You will certainly get lots of requests "do you mind if I have a quick look through"?
Congrats again on a great acquisition.

Hi Harriet,
Like you, I also initially had problems trying to find the numbers. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you refer to Franklin1's reply No 8. It's there somewhere ... good luck.

Well done westaussie on your Feb purchase, it has great potential.
It looks like a Roadmaster? 19' for a single axle is really pushing the limits, is that 19' overall length or body only?
Keep us posted with lots of renovation photos.

Hi Al,
As a Globe Trotter owner, I'm happy to respond! I "googled" both 43 Port Rd and also 43 First Street .... and I was able to get into and view both streets.
I could "go down" First St and with some factories still there, would think your photo was taken in First St.
By way of interest, is "Globe Trotter" spelt like this or like this, "Globetrotter"?? .... as I've seen it spelt both ways.
Hope this helps

Great idea Leigh in using the DHL link to reference other members etc. l'm currently restoring my Tear Drop and it is a bit of a "hit or miss" exercise in trying to source photos etc, of other TDs etc.
Put me down for a 1963, 14' Globetrotter Gold Coaster (Winterwood) and a 1957 Safetee Minor Tear Drop (much loved but as yet not named).

Made a quick trip down to Rye and took another look at the TD. The floor is masonite, with the internal ceiling and sides being ply. Took some more photos. Firefighter ... your comment re spare is duly noted. The good news is that the wheels on the TD are the same as those on the '56 wooden trailer. The other good news is that with a little & careful elbow grease and even more RP7, I managed to remove all 4 "safetee minor" badges. Max

Thought you might like to see this coupling from my '64 Globetrotter. I understand the Tregg hitch is an original fitting, but I'm not 100% certain. Max

Gordon, Thanks for the helpful tips. We are away for a few weeks from this weekend, however you won't need too many guesses to work out the first thing I'll be working on, upon my return!
Cheers

Leigh .... which Easter were you thinking of?
Kingy .... they tell me the badges are worth having, thanks for your comments.
Cobber, thanks also for your info, it's ply underneath. The mud guards are a bit of a mystery for me as I don't know vintage cars at all. Would love to know if they were originals, is there anyway of telling?
All in all, I think it was a reasonable buy for $80.

Hi all, A friend told me about this little TD which I purchased last Sat on the way down to Blairgowrie. It's been a bit unloved for a while and will essentially need a total rebuild ... having not attempted this before I'm looking forward to the challenge. Leigh (Sportsman1) dated it at the mid 50's ... could anyone please narrow it down further. There are 2 "Safetee Minor" signs/badges, on both sides of the TD. Ooops, I can't seem to attach more than these 2 photos, will post this now and try again later. Max

Al,
You're a genius. It wasn't until I got down to your last paragraph of "soooo yesterday", that I could get it to work. You're right, something must have happened between P B & this forum.
The results I'll now post in Members Photos.
With thanks again for your efforts & assistance.

Hi all,
Whilst I've successfully used P B before, I've recently moved from a PC to a Mac. My problem is that whilst I can download the photos into P B, I can't post them to this forum.
I've read (and re-read) the instructions, and was wondering if there is any special/other method to use with a Mac system?
Any tips would be appreciated.

Hi Di,
Saw your post and wanted to let you know that this weekend we are having our Vic "get together" at Blairgowrie, and we are having names tags for all participants.
Good luck for your 10th "get together"

Hi all,
On the Fri night, we have made a group booking for dinner at the Rye Hotel @ 7:45pm. There were 2 sittings available, one at 6:00pm, which we thought may have been a tad early especially for people coming down after work, and the 7:45. Address is 2415 Point Nepean Road, Rye, in the main shopping centre, right on the corner of Dundas St.
On the Sat night, it's home at our place commencing around 5:30 - 6:00pm. We should have enough chairs, however it wouldn't hurt to throw a couple in "just in case". Please byo all you need. Address is around the corner (about 3 klms) from the Rye pub, at 271 Dundas St.
Looking forward to putting some faces to the names.

Received a PM from Cobber today, saying these photos have somehow disappeared from this thread. With the magic of photo bucket (together with a bit of luck) these photos will now be reproduced. Max

Really love this subject matter. These 2 photos are of the coupling from my '56 trailer. It's not the original coupling as it came from an old friend (age 90) who hand built his caravan quite a few years ago. I'll now contact him and see if I can get more info/details of his home made van (and hopefully some photos). Max
