Hi all, I've just found out that my spare wheel, mounted underneath the trailer has "gone". I'm told that it was a VW, however I've also been told it may be something other than a VW. In order to track down a replacement, could someone please identify what it is and also any idea where I might find a replacement. The marking on the tyre is 5.90 - 15. With thanks Max

Hi Don & Al,
There is no "viewing window" and again couldn't get it going. I didn't have time to pull the fridge out but will do over Xmas. I tried Don's suggestion of connecting to the car via the 7 pin plug and switching the dial to 12 volt ... but there was no glowing orange light.
I think the answer might be to stop in a caravan park and connect to 240 volt, coz I know that works.
Thanks again for your input & suggestions.

Hi all,
A friend from the USA, has sent me an email plus a number of photos (using Power Point) of a very rare 1932 Helicron car.
Can someone please help me on how to post this email, on the V V forum.
With thanks

In my reply #27, I mentioned that we leave on 7th March for Shanghai and are away for 3 and a bit weeks. The actual date of return is 30th March, which means that unfortunately we will not be available for any V V activities during this period.

Hi Al,
Many thanks for your prompt response. The white/grey dial on the top right of the fridge, is the switch between gas, 240 & 12 volt. The small "globe" on the left of it, I would have thought would light up, but it doesn't glow at all. The dial on the top left is the temp control.
According to the instruction book, when it's lit, the top pink/red button should remain half in (which it does do, but it is still not lit).
When I depress the pink/red piezo ignition system, I can hear it "spark" and a "puff" that sounds like it's lit but it hasn't.
I'll take on board your detailed response over the weekend and see what happens and let you know.
In the meantime, thanks again for your help.
Cheers
Max

Hi all, My Globe Trotter has a 3 way fridge which works perfectly on 240 volt. No matter how many times I read the instruction book, I can't get it to operate on gas. A friend suggested that it initially should be connected to the car via the 7 pin plug in order to get the ignition/spark happening. Although I hadn't thought of this, the idea made sense and I tried it and guess what?? ... still nothing. The stove works fine and the shut off valve for the fridge is open. Can anyone please suggest any ideas? Max (Winterwood)

Leigh,
I was tempted to cancel the 3 week Shanghai cruise in lieu of 3-4 days in the Globe Trotter ... but Jan muttered something about "divorce proceedings"? Thanks for your good wishes.

The good news is that we have just received advice from our travel agent that our booking for a 3 week cruise to Shanghai, has now been confirmed.
The bad news is that we depart on 7th March (Labour Day Long Weekend).

Hi Chris,
I thoroughly endorse Don Ricardo's reply No 13 of the 24/11. Thankyou for bringing this potential disaster to our attention and I'm sure we all have inspected our A Frames in recent days as a result of your posting.

Just a thought, the Mornington Peninsula is a great spot with heaps of things to see/do. We have our holiday place at Rye, just 10 minutes from Blairgowrie. If the decision is to be Blairgowrie, then we would extend an invite for everyone to come around for an Bar B Q on our big open fire spit.
Over to the powers that be!

The Labour Day long weekend, is also the date of the Port Fairy Folk Festival and from personal experience, it is totally booked out 12 months in advance.
If the venue is to be Port Fairy, then it has to be a different date.

Either east or west of Melb is fine, however can I put a good word in for Port Fairy. A beautiful unspoilt place with a great Top 4 park with very friendly owners.

You little beauty, I found the missing chassis number and it was exactly where daggsey, 313royal and cruz said it would be ... including the removal of some layers of paint. Thanks again to all who replied. The number is 2617 as per the current S.A. rego sticker.
I simply would not have found it had it not been for this forum and as a "new chum', I find it a bit sad that there appears to be a bit of discontent and negativity creeping in to a number of posts in recent times. To the more senior "members" , please get together and work "behind the scenes" to sort out any differences before this great forum loses some of its shine. It's a great concept you have, and it should be preserved and maintained just like V V's.

Thanks to everyone for all your helpful answers/suggestions. Whilst we live in Melbourne, we keep the van stored at our holiday place down at Rye on the Mornington Peninsula and will try out your suggestions on the weekend. Sincere thanks again to all.

Hi all, After fixing the brakes, bearings and the lights, I'm about to register my '64 Globe Trotter in Victoria. The current S.A. registration sticker quotes a chassis number "2617", however for the life of me, I can't locate it anywhere. Can anyone please direct me where it is ... or where it should be?? Max

Hi all, I'm starting to do a bit of tidying up on my recently acquired '64 Globe Trotter Gold Coaster. The sides have been "2 paked" and whilst it looks like it hasn't been done professionally, it never the less, looks like a pretty good job. I'm wanting to change the color scheme and design and I'm getting conflicting advice. Can I paint over the existing 2 pak? ... if so, what is the preparation required? Some people are saying yes, others are saying no, because only 2 pak can go over an existing 2 pak finish. I'm very much an amateur in this area and so any help would be much appreciated. Winterwood
