Hi all
Only 3 months to go to Canungra!
Our spot is secured between the loos & the old Pavilion. Garry the Manager, says the new camp kitchen has a BBQ now & seating for about 30 & he's hoping to get a sink in there soon.
Rob will bring the fire drum & put it close to the new camp kitchen so we can hang out in the camp kitchen with the fire nearby. If everyone wants to bring a few bits of firewood that will be great.
Friday night dinner: same as last year, bring a dish to share around the camp fire, such as soup, stew, lasagna, curried rice, baked veges, or desserts or whatever you want to bring.
We can then bring our heated up food contribution to the camp kitchen by 6.00pm Friday night along with all our eating utensils & some spare tables & chairs for a fantastic night. Cheers smiles

It's me again!
The little cottages at the top of the hill overlooking Horsehoe Bay are DEFINITELY worth a visit. These were originally occupied by the pilots guiding in the ships. One cottage is a fantastic little maritime museum & another cottage has great little handicrafts to buy.
A great drive takes you through Jerseyville, Frederickton & Gladstone & Hat Head (where the Nats were originally going to be held) is well worth the drive.
Perhaps others could put in suggestions too in this thread! See you soon! smiles

Hi all again!
South West Rocks has a great old cinema right at the top of the hill just before you descend into the Horsehoe Bay Caravan Park ( where half of our mob are staying).
The Roxy Cinema (get the joke, Roxy @ SWR, ha ha) has a group rate of $8/person for numbers over 20. Normal entry is $11. The Cinema seats about 160 & is pretty empty on a Sunday night.
So here's the deal: Sunday night session 7.40 to see MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING 2
If you want to hand me EXACTLY $8 per person, then I will buy you your ticket at Group Rate. DONT tell me if you've seen it & it's a rubbish movie! If you do, I'll throw jaffas as you! You know the words to the song, Sunday Night at the Movies, who cares what picture you see? Lalalala
Cinema serves their famous ChocTop icecreams.

Hi All Smoky Cape Lighthouse is in a really stunning location & is a lovely drive from SWR. The lighthouse is beautifully conserved inside. Tours inside the heritage lighthouse are on Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 1pm. Only 10-12 people are allowed on each tour as Pat the tour guide says it gets too hot near the light with more people than that. $10/person www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/historic-buildings-places/Smoky-Cape-LighthouseRob & I are booked in for Monday at 1pm. Pat will run more tours at 2pm & 3pm if that one fills up & enough people are interested. I said I'd let Pat know the numbers so post here folks & Ill let Pat know!

Many of us enjoyed ourselves so much at Evans Head in February that we have decided to return for an End of Year Celebration weekend on 25, 26, 27 November. In fact we enjoyed ourselves SO much, many of us are going for the week of 20-27 November! Casey at Evans Head Holiday Park, is reserving all the sites (except for 2 long stay vans) in the dog friendly area along the front facing the river, sites 640-655. She will only hold them for a few weeks so GET IN QUICK!!! Phone 02 6682 4212 & say you’re with the Vintage Vanners www.northcoastholidayparks.com.au/park/info/evans-headwww.northcoastholidayparks.com.au/park/map/evans-headJust click to download site map before you book Powered sites $33/night, Unpowered riverfront sites $30 Deposit is $50 There are no pensioner discounts. Hi all
Just did a few phone calls to confirm details...
Canungra Pub for Xmas dinner on Sat night 30 July is still the same as last year at $22/person for 2 courses. It's booked for 6pm for 25-30 so thanks Dave for doing that. We can organize courtesy bus closer to July. Pub will need to know definite numbers a couple of days before so please post or PM your plans. Newbug, tymkey & Mustang: how many/if any for pub?
Everyone on the Friday nite, pay Dave your 22 buckaroos per person for Sat dinner. If you don't know Dave, then he's the really big bloke that when he asks for money, you meekly answer 'Yes please Dave' & hand over yer cash! Don't forget he has a Harley & knows some pretty shady characters! (Yes, you know who you are!)
Mustang: of course you Classic folk are invited along with all your pets!
Our spot is secured between the loos & the old Pavilion. Garry says the new camp kitchen has a BBQ now & seating for about 30 & he's hoping to get a sink in there soon. Friday night: same as last year, bring a dish to share around the camp fire. Rob will bring the fire drum & if everyone wants to bring a few bits of firewood. When you arrive, Kimbo would like you to arrange your vans in a wagon train arrangement with annexes to the centre. Sounds good to me!

We would be interested in the Tathra Run again if it was on in early-mid July. We have already booked Canungra Showground for our Northern NSW/Southern Qld Xmas in July for the last weekend in july, that is 29/30/31 July.
Thanks

Hi all
Casey, the Park Manager has let me know that 53 people are booked into Evans Head. I only had 45 on my list. So can Eddy Fryk, Julie Lindsay, Bob Taylor, Roger Horn, & Lorraine Treves let me know their plans re shared events ASAP?
I need to know numbers by Wednesday afternoon to give to Casey for the butchers free meat tray. She has to order the meat from the local butcher, then get it to us by 5pm Friday. If snags & rissoles aren't your thing, then feel free to bring along fillet steak (to share of course)!
I also promised to give final numbers on Wednesday to Chinese restaurant for Sat dinner. I will need above people to contact me as well thanks re their plans.
There are only 2 free BBQs out the front of our area so if anyone else can bring their BBQ along that will be great. We'll bring our baby Weber.
Allie & Paul have kindly offered to bring their massive gas powered camp oven, so perhaps Thursday & Sunday nights we can improvise a meal around that!
Just let me know on Friday evening if you're wanting to go on Aviation Museum tour Sat morning.
Anyway it's looking like a good event, even the planets are lining up for it. All 5. See you there

I hope people get a chance to experience John & his lovely wife's shop before it closes. I imagine it's a combination of factors causing the closure. As Rob said, you didn't know you needed something until you walked into his shop. There are far too many things to list on a website. One visit I bought a lovely hand painted lampshade together with NOS brown fabric covered electrical cable, hanging chain, ceiling fitting. Looks just right. We always go there when we go to Brisbane. One visit, we'd been there so long talking to John & his wife, I had to ask to use their bathroom out in back cottage. It was straight out of the late 1890s with no modernising, renovations or 'restoration'. Basically a room with a roll top bath, toilet, hand basin on wall with a few old hooks to hang your towel. Brilliant!

Looking forward to Evans Head... 22 vans & 1 cabin. See updated list further up thread.
Jean & Kev are bringing a gazebo for group area. Can someone bring their moveable magic music machine (MMMM)?
Restaurant booked for 45 bottoms on seats for Sat night.
Friday night, can everyone just make a food contribution for a group meal? Nibbles? Small Salad? Buns? Whatever you like at a Barbie.
Cheers smiles

Dear Ron
A rainy Saturday morning has given me a chance to read this whole thread from the start of your project to now. What can one say? Top marks for workmanship, patience, thoroughness, attention to detail. You're an inspiration to us all who plug along with a restoration doing a bit here & a bit there. Thanks & hope to see the Don 120 in the flesh sometime.

Hi John & Pam
Fantastic you're coming! What a shame you hadn't told us sooner, we could have brought the Propert down to Evans for you! LOL!
Yes Reddo & I have discussed previous alleged injurious events & Ive agreed to let him do the washing up next time! No reason to break a leg in order to get the dishes done!
We'll be getting there on Wed & leaving Sun so should be great!
Cheers Cathie & Rob & Scud

This seems like doubling up if you read Recent Posts as I just posted this in Evans Head thread but I guess some people read Recent Threads or? We want to celebrate Dennis & Sue's 40 years of life together, as its their 40th wedding anniversary in about a months time. So we've made a booking for dinner at the Chinese restaurant at Evans Head Bowls Club for Saturday night, 30 January, at 6.30pm. www.evansheadbowls.com.au/kamhingchinese/It's within walking distance of the Park, along the river to the Heads & next to the Surf Club. Should be a lovely opportunity to let Dennis & Sue know how much we appreciate your company. Who would have thought that fixing up some old caravans would have led to such great friendships? Cheers Cathie

Hi all Friday night is our BBQ night with free snags/rissoles donated by Park Managers. However, we also want to celebrate Dennis & Sue's 40 years of life together, as its their 40th wedding anniversary in about a months time. I've also booked us in for a personal tour of the Air Museum at 9.30am Sat 30/1. If you can squat & stand, you can have 15-20mins inside the genuine F-111 cockpit for $35, otherwise it's just $5 for the tour. Let me know if you DONT want dinner at Bowls Club or if you DO want to go on Aviation Tour. Cheers Cathie

Gee Dennis & Sue
We all appreciate on the Forum, how much work you put into your cars & vans, and also how much you love getting out & using them. So this must be devastating for you.
All the best for your future health, we'll see you in Evans Head!

Hi Stan & Deb! Great, look forward to catching up.
Sorry to anyone I've left off the list. If I have left you off, blame it on the Silly Season or my 10/52 holiday. Rick & Deanna? Bob & Sandi?

Hi all
Added Helen & Earlee to the list!
And don't forget...The managers Casey & Adrian have offered us a free meat tray (rissoles & snags) provided by the local butcher, and there are free BBQ’s just out the front of our sites right on the River. So looks like Friday night dinner is sorted!!
