Hi all,
This is always a good event so it’s time to Phone the Park & book in. Tell them you’re with the Vintage Vanners & you want to be in the pet friendly area near the river. Let us know on here when you’ve booked.
Also let us know if you’ll be coming to the Saturday nite dinner at the Surf Club. Dress up in Vintage Summer Aussie Xmas is OPTIONAL! Jean is putting a lot of work into this & needs to know numbers ASAP so she can let the Club know. There’ll be Menu board so you can order whatever you like & order your own drinks. Great view of the beach & cheap as chips!
Don’t forget to bring your swimmers, kayaks, boogie boards as it doesn’t get much better than this for water activities!

20 July 2919 is the 50th anniversary of the First Man on the Moon. A few of us are gunna brave the cold & celebrate. It’s just 2 days after Full Moon so Rob is gunna bring his telescope so we can get a closer look & see if there’s rubbish on the Moon too! Seriously tho, as Van sings: Its a Marvelous night for a Moondance, isn’t it?
Friday nite is open to suggestions, share a dish/bbq/toasted sandwiches/pub/takeaway pizza/campfire cookery!
Saturday nite is bring a dish to share, preferably a loony one to celebrate in the Camp kitchen. Loony costumes are welcome including silver jumpsuits & anything you would have worn in 1969.
Garry, caretaker at Canungra Showgrounds has reserved the area for us around the great new camp kitchen from Thursday 18 to Monday 22 July. It’s close to Amenities so no need for Giant Steps or Leaps if you need the loo(n). Camping with power at the Showgrounds will cost $25/night/couple, dogs are allowed on leads & fires are allowed in drums. No need to book a spot, just let me know in this thread by PM or by text if you want to come & which nights you will be coming. Just pay Garry in first house on right as you drive into Showgrounds. Phone 075543 5904 if you want further info from Garry.
For anyone that hasn't been to Canungra before, it’s a lovely little village west of the Gold Coast with plenty of things to do around the area, such as O’Reillys Guesthouse, Lamington Plateau, wineyards, hot air ballooning etc etc.
Please bring some firewood & if you can! And music from 1969!

Great venue: Showground with constant activity, running school kids, jumping horses & obedient dogs
Beautiful blue sky days with cool nites!
Farmers market with gourmet cheeses, jams, veges etc within few minutes walk
What could be better!!!
Thanks for coming everyone, we’ll definitely go to Bangalow again!

Ummm Tour Director....
We booked into Inverell park many moons ago, but I’ve just re-booked with them again now. Sounds like old managers were a bit slack in taking names & details etc

Hi Mustang, Sorry you can't make it this year.
Jean is a bit concerned about the weather so she's hoping someone might bring along a couple of 3m x 3 m gazebos for Saturday night dinner?
Post on here by early next week if you are able to bring one or two. Otherwise if it rains we'll have to squeeze into the camp kitchen.

Hi all,
Just an update on Lennox Head End of Year event.
Looks like about 15 vans have booked so should be a great weekend.
Friday evening... let's all meet in Camp Kitchen for a BBQ. Bring all your food, gear etc for that.
Saturday evening...share a Christmas meal. Bring a dish to share, hot dish, cold meat, salads, dessert etc. plus your crockery, chairs, table etc. Jean is bringing Xmas decorations & we'll set up tables for smorgasbord for food. If you want to wear something Xmas festive, that's great!

Here is some info for Lennox Head... Lennox Head...back of Park is now pet friendly, great camp kitchen & amenities in middle of PFA. Sites around outside of camp kitchen & just opposite are big with native trees. Close to Lake Ainsworth for fab kayaking, short walk to beach & longer walk to great shopping. Plenty to see & do at Lennox. We had several great runs there years ago. Downside: group discount takes 10% off slab sites $49, grass $45 to $44/$40 reflectionsholidayparks.com.au/park/lennox-head/ Read more: vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/16580/evans-head-xmas-year-november#ixzz5Qe74Q12DWhen you phone to book, mention you are with Vintage Vanners. They are holding 10 sites together in Pet Friendly Area near camp kitchen, 172-175,184-188. We are booked into PT37. Plenty of other sites available but may have 'moderns' near them. Once we get more than 10 vans booked, then we will get 10% discount applied to final cost. Great camp kitchen so we can decide if we want to go to restaurant/cafe/club for Sat nite or if we want to just have a low key Sat nite "Bring a Dish, bring a Xmas decoration & have an old fashioned Aussie BBQ. It's up to youse!

Thanks everyone for your input on this.
Yes Mustang you're right about the refunds, it's difficult to get one consistent message! Scott the Manager, told me that people can have full refunds without an admin charge of $30 or else put their $50 towards 2019 event.
Best way to get refund or re-book is to Reply to Park email & mention Vintage Vanners in the Subject Line. If anyone has any probs with this, let me know.

Hi all, a few people have checked out the Pet friendly area of the Evans Head Caravan Park & been very unimpressed. About 6 vans have cancelled so far. The Manager Scott has agreed to either refund your deposit in full with no admin fee or put it towards next years 2019 event when we can go back to Riverbank. Scott will email you. So Rob & I went for a 400km drive the other day & checked out alternative locations for 2018 End of Year event. Here are our opinions: Brooms Head...lovely grassy pet friendly area (PFA) Section E, right on beach but bring everything with you! Great for bushwalkers & beachgoers. Modern bowls club short walk away with resident kangaroos (yes, it's that quiet). Downside: highway roadworks between Ballina & Woolgoolga. Group discounts brings it to $32/night www.clarencecoastholidayparks.com.au/brooms/p/17Lennox Head...back of Park is now pet friendly, great camp kitchen & amenities in middle of PFA. Sites around outside of camp kitchen & just opposite are big with native trees. Close to Lake Ainsworth for fab kayaking, short walk to beach & longer walk to great shopping. Downside: group discount takes 10% off slab sites $49, grass $45 to $44/$40 reflectionsholidayparks.com.au/park/lennox-head/Byron Bay has had an upgrade several years ago. New area that's PFA has lots of native shade trees, BBQ, small camp kitchen, amenities, close to swimming pool, nice walk 500m to pet friendly beach. Sites 46-62, 91-94 are good. Drive into Byron, plenty of shopping & sightseeing. No group discounts so $45/on Sat night & $35 every other night. Downside: This is Byron so it's busy! www.byronholidaypark.com.au/Ok guys, so it's over to you! Check out the websites & give us your opinion.

Hi all,
By now everyone who is booked in for our 2018 End of Year Event at Evans Head will have received an email from the Park.
November is a long way off & the building work may be all finished by the time we get there, so Don't Panic! We have never had Open Vans to the public in the last 3-4 years I've been organizing the Evans Head event. It's just been a nice Getaway to a lovely place by the beach with a chance to meet old & new friends.
Next year will be back to normal & we will be able to camp by the riverbank again. I will be putting up a weekend event at Brooms Head soon. Anyone got any thoughts on dates that don't clash with other events? This is a very low key place & would be just another getaway event & not open to the public.

Hi all
I was talking to the Park Manager about our event at Evans Head this week. He said the Park will be building 13 cabins in an area adjacent to where we like to have our yearly get together in the Reserve, between 1 August to early December.
Because there will be a bit of construction noise and power interruptions together with re-aligning the existing entrance to the Reserve, he has reserved a large area in the main part of the Park, in the dog-friendly area so we can all be together in a group. The area will be close to the camp kitchen & a short walk to the Surf Club for our Saturday Night Vintage Aussie Xmas dinner. Jean is planning a great night for all, with decorations etc etc.
The Manager said that if the building work is completed or almost completed by end of November, then we can stay on our original reserved sites in the Reserve. The Manager will email everyone with this info in case people want to get a refund of their deposit. It's only this year that our event will be disrupted possibly, and there will be no changes to the area where we camp, apart from an upgraded road and a renovated Kiosk.

Hi Sandi
We're booked in for the weekend. Sounds great. Dalray said 15-20 vans have booked already. They're recreating a Drive in movie on the Friday night with the main feature being Vanishing Point. Yes, we actually will be in our cars so the dawgs can come too & get up to mischief in the back seat!
See you there!

Everyone likes Evans Head so much that people have started booking for November 2018. 14 sites are already booked! So phone Evans Head Holiday Park on 02 6682 4212 & tell them you’re with the Vintage Vanners 2018 (Cathie’s Mob), and book your site in the dog friendly area in the Reserve facing the river. www.northcoastholidayparks.com.au/park/info/evans-headwww.northcoastholidayparks.com.au/park/map/evans-headJust click to download site map before you book Powered sites $?/night, Unpowered riverfront sites $? Deposit is $50 & there are no pensioner discounts. If booking is cancelled 7 days before, then deposit can be transferred to another date with no penalty or refund can be taken minus a $30 admin charge. Friday night: Park donates snags, rissoles & bread for BBQ on the Rivers Edge. Bring a share plate of nibbles, salad, sauces, cake, desserts. Nibbles at 6.00, BBQ at 6.30. We need to give numbers to the Park so let Rodnet (Rod & Janette) know if you’re coming to this by end of October. Saturday night: Jean is organizing numbers for dinner at the Surf Club at 6.00. So she will also need to have numbers to book the restaurant by end of October. It’s a short walk away so no cars are needed. Suggestion for fancy dress so far is Vintage Aussie. For any interested Kayakers, Rob & I are planning an adventure doing a downriver trip, setting off from near Golf Course, probably early Saturday morning. So let us know what you are interested in by posting in this thread. Thanks smiles

Hi all
so far 29 vans are booked in for varying lengths of stay for this years Evans Head campout. Some people love it so much they are staying for a week or two! Yes, it's that good a place!
There are 3 sites (638, 724, 727) people have booked but haven't yet paid their $50 deposit, so check it out please in case you have forgotten.
Caravan Park is keen to give us Meat & Bread for the Sausage Sizzle on Friday night on the Foreshore, from about 6.00 NSW time. we all provide the rest: chips, dips, salad, sauces, desserts, cakes!!
Kiosk is booked solely for us mob for the Saturday night. Allie & her gang offered to do some decorations (as they did such a good job last year!) but feel free to add some decorations of your own or tablecloths etc. Last year everyone seemed happy with the Hawaiian theme, so how about we move around the Pacific & do VINTAGE TIKI this year?
Any questions? Post here...

Hi all,
Thanks for those great photos!
Kalbar looks like a lovely little event with super friendly locals!
Hey, we're all campers so we know we can't control the weather. Hopefully things will be more predictable in our lives next year & we can make it there too.
Cheers
