Thanks for the post Rod.
The CPark will only reserve the extra sites for a week so we can all be in same area. So if anyone else wants to come, let me know.
Cheers

Hi all People at our November event at Bangalow said they were interested in a weekend at Evans Head for early 2016. Rob & I reconnoitered the Caravan Park a couple of weeks ago. It’s the biggest caravan park in NSW with room for 500 sites in busy times. It’s bordered by the beach, river, Bowls Club, & large RSL club. Perhaps it’s a possible venue for another NATS? Just recently they have made 2 areas of the park dog friendly in Off Peak & Shoulder periods. So the Park has reserved us a bunch of sites near the Evans River for the weekend after NSW school returns, Friday 29 & Saturday 30 January. There’s no Australia Day Long weekend in 2016. Evans Head is a fantastic spot that ticks most boxes! Small seaside town with food, fish shops, pub & grog shops just 200m from Park; Beautiful walkways to patrolled beach along the edge of Evans River; Fishing fleet with prawn boats a short distance from Park; Kiosk next to sites with great coffee, ice creams & lunch menu; Bright blue crystal clear Evans River enjoyed by fisher folk & kayakers. On Tuesday I emailed a few people & the uptake has been brilliant. Currently these people are booked in for various times from 27/1-1/2: 635 Terry & Vicki 640 Rod & Nettie 642 Jean & Kev 643 John & Sue 644 Kim & Graeme 648 Lawrence & Petra 650 John & Julie 652 Rob & Cathie 653 Reddo 654 Dennis & Sue 655 Paul & Allie Lisa If anyone else is interested, please contact the Park & book your site ASAP as the Park is only holding extra sites for us for 5-7 days. It’s a pretty popular Park (now its dog-friendly & so close to beach & shops) so we will have a few mainstream caravanners scattered amongst us but we’re a tolerant bunch! There are plenty of sites for smaller vans; unpowered riverfront; & powered sites 1 row back from the river. The managers Casey & Adrian have offered us a free meat tray (rissoles & snags) provided by the local butcher, and there are free BBQ’s just out the front of our sites right on the River. So looks like Friday night dinner is sorted!! Please let me know which site you've booked. Some details: Evans Head Holiday Park, phone 02 6682 4212 Say you’re with the Vintage Vanners www.northcoastholidayparks.com.au/park/info/evans-headwww.northcoastholidayparks.com.au/park/map/evans-headJust click to download site map before you book Powered sites $33/night, Unpowered riverfront sites $30 Deposit is $50 There are no pensioner discounts. Group discount (for over 10 sites) is a spare site for a camp kitchen. If booking is cancelled 7 days before, then deposit can be transferred to another date with no penalty or refund can be taken minus a $30 admin charge. There’s plenty to do around Evans Head. Here are some highlights: Evans Head Memorial Aerodrome Museum has tours for $5/head. I’m happy to book 10.00am Saturday morning for a tour by the group if people let me know they’re interested. Some people may want to shell out $35/head for an authentic 20 minutes spent in the cockpit of the F111 (no jokes please gentlemen, there are ladies present). www.ehmahaa.org.auNew Italy Museum & Café 10km south of Woodburn, this museum showcases the story of a group of Italian immigrants in the 1880’s. Bundjalung & Broadwater National Parks where you can see groups of coastal emus & other amazing wildlife. Salty Lagoon Walk passes through undisturbed salt marsh, swamp forest & 60,000 year old dunes. Coastal scenic drives to Ballina, Lennox Head & Byron Bay. thanks smiles ps If i ever master photobucket, I could post piccies!

Hi Lawrence
Thanks for info re Paul.
I've contacted the caretaker & she's OK if people want to come earlier as a couple of vans want to come on Thursday. I've told those people to go to caretakers house & let her know you're there & that you're with the Vintage Van group. Paul can ask her about Monday when we're there. Showground only lets in 1 group at a time, so I guess it depends on caretakers bookings.
So 12 takers for this event! Should be great, looking forward to it! See you for Barbie on Friday nite! Now the big question: which van to take? smiles

Dear Kenneth (Banno)
Perhaps an idea for fancy dress for next years' Christmas at Samford could be Westside Story. You could bring out the real knives while re-enacting Them & Us or Your Gang versus My Gang.
Yours sincerely smiles with a big yawn

Looking forward to seeing you both again Lawrence!
I forgot to say dogs are allowed (on leads with poobags of course!)
When you contact or post that you're coming, can you let me know if you'll be coming to pub dinner or not, & which days you'll be staying for? A few people don't want to do the pub thing, that's fine.
If you have any ideas re dinner on Friday night, put them up here or send me a message. In this years events, we've had a great time on the Friday nites cooking up our own pizzas at Rathdowney, bring-a-dish at Canungra, and jaffles at Nimbin. What about we have a barbeque nite? we'll bring our Weber (Im sure there'll be other baby Webers too), we can join up the tables & eat together after cooking our own food? We did that at Coolum Beach, Flanagans & Canungra a couple of times & its been great. There's plenty of space at Bangalow to keep an area for outdoor eating under the big camphor laurel trees near the vans.
9 vans on the list so far...

Bangalow is a small town just inland from Byron Bay & just off the Pacific Highway. It has the best Showground on the NSW North Coast as it’s right in the middle of the town with its beautiful main street & Federation style shops selling gorgeous but expensive boutique stuff. Walk out the Showground’s side entrance on Station St & there are several antique shops & furniture restoration business. Get in the car & drive 15-20 minutes & you’ll be in Byron Bay with all its attractions such as the Lighthouse, beautiful beaches such as Broken Head etc etc. bangalowmarket.com.au/showground/index.htmlThe Showground is available for Groups for $20/night/van. For our Vintage Van Forum group, the only available dates are the last weekend in October or first weekend in December. The general agreement from people at other events has been that December is too hot and busy. So it’s all booked for the last weekend in October, Friday 30 Oct, Saturday 31 Oct, Sunday 1 Nov. Now here’s the fine print! We will have the Showground to ourselves. There are large grassy areas next to toilets/showers that caretaker has given us for our vans. There are plenty of power outlets, so no dramas with numbers of vans. Of course no fires as this is a VERY upmarket Showground. If you want to come, PM or email or text or Post in this thread. Please DON’T phone the Showground. I will keep a tally on this thread of numbers of people wanting to come & I will give the caretaker a list of names so you can all go up to her house (next to where we are camping) & you can pay her when you’re there. I won’t be collecting money but I will need numbers a week before event. Please don’t turn up without any notice. Enter the Showground via Market St which is off Bangalow Rd. Friday night organize your own/shared food or whatever! Saturday night is booked for a night out at the Bangalow Hotel with live music & bistro/restaurant. It’s only 5 mins walk from the Showground to the Pub. I’ve booked a block of tables in the beergarden. You can eat off the bistro or restaurant menu, it’s up to you! Of course if you want to abstain that’s fine too. It’s Halloween so if you want to wear blood soaked costumes, black lipstick/nails etc etc, post on here & we’ll see whether anyone if interested! The Bangalow Hotel booking person suggested it would be fun to celebrate Halloween. Let us know if you want to go the pub on Saturday night. bangalowhotel.com.au/Menus are under 'menu' funnily enough! So far most people interested in this event like that it isn’t a public display of vans, but is just an opportunity to sit & chat with other like-minded vintage vanners with little to no organizing.

Hi
Steve O'Brien (Registrar of our Vintage Touring Club) has been in today to see his local RMS in NSW.
He was told the RMS will have info for the 2 year trial AFTER 1 October.
Basically it's this: People who are residents of NSW & belong to an Historic vehicle Club, can then opt into the 2 year trial by producing their conditional rego papers + drivers license & be given a pro rata apportionment of the annual entitlement of 60 days to be used for personal, maintenance & club events. The full 60 days needs to be documented in the log book, then after 60 days are used up, permits to travel need to be obtained from club registrar, as in current arrangement. Pro rata means if you take your rego papers in to RMS on 2 October & you have 3 months left on your rego then they'll apportion you 15 days n so on n so forth! When your next full annual region rolls around, then the meter resets to a full 60 days. Sounds like it should be good as long as it's not another gov scam to rip a few bucks off the punters, just for the privilege of taking part in the trial!
Good luck for Qland Mustang! Jenno, our vans are classified as trailers so I really can't see why the NSW Govt would be letting all those grey nomad rego funds out of their coffers if they aren't conditional registrations. smiles

Hi guys I sent off the email in Griffins link, got the automated reply, went into my local RMS & found out I knew more about the trial than the local staff!!! They gave me forms titled 'Adjustment of Records' which means they want to charge me $21 to change details? ? Has anyone had any luck with this in NSW or do you go in AFTER 1 October to get on the Scheme? Good idea but shame about the bureaucracy! Cathie

Hi Sue
Probably best to come any time after 9.30-10.00. That's when exhibitors have to have their products in for judging so it will be pretty busy around that time. Main pavilion is near Front gate & there'll be a lot of activity so may mean a bit of queuing.
We'll probably get there mid morning. See you then

Hi Boots
Yep a bag of wood sounds good. We'll bring a bag of wood too as we might have to cluster closely around that fire ring if we have coolish nights (quite likely in them thar hills).
Dont bother bringing yer heaters, electric jugs or toasters (unless you're self-sufficient in power) as Bob found out yesterday all the powers on 1 circuit with a 10amp fuse. So bring a warmy jumper/jacket plus gas appliances. Fridges & lights will be fine off Showground power supply.
Just think of it as halfway to vintage camping. Look on the bright side, there's showers, toilets & running water!

Bobs been to Nimbin to check it out. He's got cafe menus in case anyone wants to order wood fired pizzas or free range organic chickens. There's a fire ring available at camp ground so Bob n a few others are keen to do jaffles on Frid nite. But this really is up to you to decide what u want to eat or buy for this weekend. There are no rules BUT please bring your long leads so we can all have power. Bob is doing a camping layout so we will all fit in comfortably. Let me know if u want to cancel or still want to come so Bob can amend his plan.
we're currently at 15 vans:

Hi Amy
I'll leave the advice giving to others who may want to comment on the 'nuts n bolts' issues you've mentioned.
But just my 2 bobs worth! Whenever I look at 4 sale listings on EBay or Gumtree & the description states something like " easy repairs, can be done by anyone or just needs some new rubbers or whatever" then I think to myself "oh yeah, if it was so easy then why haven't you done it before you put it up for sale"! There are plenty of good vans that have been garaged all their lives so have no rot or even need much repairs beyond some external painting. If you can get a nice van with no water damage or rot, then you'll be way ahead in van use ability! Cathie

Hi Bob
Thanks, they're added to the list.
So we're currently at 15 vans: smiles, boblor, terryknight, paul/allie, caddyshack, annieandjohnny, flowergirlz, kimbo, JBJ/boots, penny, sunny62, rick/deanna, bob/sandi, Michael, Margaret/Ken.
It's all sorted with Nimbin Show management so please don't contact the Camping guy Philip, just put your name up here in this thread or send me a PM. They are doing us a special deal for the Group: we put on a "display" & we have a free weekend. That sounds fair hey?
It's fine to come on Friday. Take Cecil St beside Nimbin Hospital in Main St, straight down & Showground is on right. enter the Main Gate, say you're with the Vintage Caravan mob & drive around the Ring to the Amenities Block on far side. Bring some long leads if you have them as we will piggy back with power. Pets are fine. They can visit the Dog Show n see how the other half lives! Woof woof!
I'll print up the Show Events schedule so you can see if the gumboot throwing clashes with the Duck n Dog Event!
Any one has ideas re food, put it up here but there's no fires of course so I think it's "do your own thing" with food.
Should be good!!! smiles
