G’day jdazzle,
As Don Ricardo has said Covid has made people reluctant to organise group gatherings.
You have the right idea, just you and your young fella enjoying the great outdoors. Regarding your water tank leak, stop using it until you find the source of the leak and fix it. Use a portable container instead.

G’day jdazzle,
Half way down my first post on this thread I make a suggestion as to how it can be done, including a link to a YouTube video. Same principal works on Marconi track.
Stick with it, it’s fair dinkum vintage 😉👍 Get your three year old to give you a hand, it’s that easy 👌

Another surprise gift, we received sometime ago, was from Karen the granddaughter of the bloke who built Ol’ 36 in 1933/34 (see the relevant posts starting at the end of page 5 on this thread). She went to the trouble of knitting car and caravan in the image of Ol’ 36 and posting them to us, an indication of how pleased she is that her grandfathers caravan is still alive. Cobber.

We recently received a very special gift, again courtesy of Don Ricardo. He contacted me during the auction, in aid of local charities, being held at the 2021 Nationals held at Victor Harbour Holliday Park to let me know there was a wall clock in the auction that had a painting of my Ol’ 33/34..36 caravan and ‘55 FJ Holden on it, did I want to put a bid on it ? During a telephone hookup Don R placed the winning bid on my behalf, he then enticed many of the wonderful people we have become friends with on the forum to post greetings on the back of the clock, including the artist who did the art work and was attending the Nationals, Susan Hensal ( the painting was inspired I think by a photo taken by Keith & Susan Hall on the now defunct “Some Where Else” site) Thanks for doing the art work and submitting the clock for auction Susan, and a big thank you to the great people who left messages on the back of the clock. And a big thank you to Richard Don Ricardo....... for everything. Cobber Bob & Yvonne. [/url

No need for sorry Mr Strugglebrook, we both knew you had different plans for this old van than I did, difference is you are making progress whereas I had run out of gas. She’s looking neat and tidy with the new A frame window arrangements and new aluminium panels front and rear. Replacing the thousand or so slot headed bolts and nuts with rivets would have been a big job, not something I would have done so I hope you got blisters 😝 Look forward to seeing what you do with its interior.

G’day eunji,
This site, and this thread, caters primarily for vintage Caravans (pre 1970) however for your van you could try Camec. Have a look at this site to see if they can help you with an awning for you van (go to the awnings part of their web site)

G’day Kenny, Thanks for the update regarding caravan museums in Queensland. Shame the Hampton one has closed it was apparently highly recommended, it still has a Facebook site with lots of good photos. I hope SEARLS at BUNDABERG goes from strength to strength. Cobber.

Well, thank you Ray but, there is a problem.
I had decided to ignore my birth day this year like, as though it wasn’t happening 😩
Mrs Cobber thanks you unreservedly for your good wishes regarding her birthday & the observation she is much younger than ‘him’ 😘

That is really sad news geoff & Jude,
Maurie was one of those fair dinkum Aussie likeable larrikins who brought good times to any vintage caravan event he attended.
I often smile when I remember the night at Coledale when Maurie ( as it was later confirmed) removed the Aussie flag I had at the front of my van. It was assumed at the time it had been stolen by an outsider.
As an indication of Mauries pure talent as a larrikin he installed the flag in front of Reddos van making it evident poor old Reddo was the villain, while Maurie sat on the step of his van, next to Reddo’s, watching Reddo try to defend himself.
Lots of good times wherever Maurie was, REST IN PEACE MATE 😉
Sincere sympathies to Kate & the family from Cobber & Yvonne.

Where are you Leigh ?. I’m not saying this van is similar to HILDA but it does appear to have “Lips” front and rear. jdazzle, have a look at the above link and see if you can see any similarities. The “lips” I referred to are the lips at the very bottom of the front a back of the van, it was pretty much an exclusive feature of “Clipper” Caravans, made in South Australia. Cobber. ( I can’t remember how to do hyperlinks 😢)

G’day Di. Welcome back 😉 Have you searched through the restorations parts suppliers list?
The authentic vintage and hardware site have a lot of good stuff including push button handles and knobs. Anyway, this link takes you to their handles page ( the home page is worth looking at too.) Cobber.

Yes, we’ll i knew YOU would know that much Ray Roehm 😝 but knowing Don Ricardo I reckon that water tank must have some rare historic significance, otherwise why would anybody take a photo of it ? ☹️
