This van looks a little like a Sunliner Is there any history on this Kennedy van to link it to Sunliner or is it just a van with simiular looks It looks to be in very good condition and being fibreglass it should give you a few more years of caravanning fun.Quiet a good find well done Cheers retro1

Hi retro yep im as happy as one can be the van weighs 750 kilo so I can tow it with my ek without taking away the originality of the ek by putting a red motor in it I think you will see Vans like this less and less because of there unusual shape and appeal I would say that the sunliner design may have been Kennedys motivator he made them in his garage I saw one in W.A, and I have tried several times to get the owner to sell it to no avail apparently a handfull were made before he was bought out by another company called skyline if anyone has seen any more I would be interested to find out how many are left this will be a complete in side out restoration what do you reckon the chances are of the Grand Pooh Bah helping me after he finishes his Don See ya at Morgan with the Kennedy Retro Regards Will

Will, I'm with Reddo on this one, if its not a "splinter" van, its not a true vintage van ;D ;D I like the shape though ......more so than the Sunliner, I see what you mean by the different design....... Should look great behind the EK. Sure, I'll give you a hand after I finish the Don, provided I haven't died of lead poisoning

G’Day Will jaibar & anybody else going to Morgan from NSW(who else is there?) I’m having a terrible time deciding if I tow with the FJ or the Magna. Yesterday it was the FJ...today it is the Magna If we can arrange to meet and travel together that would be great and that would help solve my dilemma...Magna it would be. I wouldn’t mind leaving on the 14th (Public Holiday) but I’m easy. Why are we talking about Morgan here You blokes are inbloodycorrigible, the guest won’t know where to find the Morgan stuff!!! (Is this the new Morgan thread site don't tell Reddo, he'll get s#it*y as all hell) Cobber.

Sunliner, Kennedy link The first "sunliner produced was produced as a "Skyline" The shape of the Kennedy is more even as a Sunliner is quick to rise to the front and fall at the back. The Kennedy uses the same door hinges as the "Olympic" vans.........and I am sure the only interchangeable part with a Sunliner would be the tyres, and probably the side windows ( if they are Qualcast). A fibreglass van will still be here long after the splinters are saw dust!!

Hello Will and Lyn, I hope you got it for a good price... Bigdidda and I saw this van when it was sitting in the Antique Store in Woodford, the Blue Mountains... I know it sat there for quite sometime. I'm 99.9% certain it is the very same van. The seller was just asking far too much at the time. I do know of another in Hazelbrook but, I'm not telling a soul where it is! Its going to be mine, mine, mine ;D It is a beautiful van you have bought though Good to see it go to someone who has a true appreciation of its significance. I live just up the higway in Hazelbrook next village up the hill from Woodford. Cheers Greg

how ya goin VW nut thanks for the input are you sure you dont want to let me know your secret promise I wont tell anyone else were it is
no it wasnt a bargain if your talking in dollar terms $4500.00 it cost me plus reg plus lots of things but the long term benefits will outweigh the fact I paid to much for it in the first place I relate the cost to a new van when it is finished it will probably cost me around ten thousand dollars what would you rather have a new 13 footer costing around $25,000 that lots of people have or a unique piece of Aussie history at a cost of ten thousand dollars that someone else hasnt got
the weight factor and the unique look plus I will have one of only two known in W.A Plus I was an ugly kid thats grown into an ugly adult so I like having nice things around me Catcha later VW

G'day Wolfman Will Thats a good price I know the seller had a substantially higher price then that on it at the Antique Store... Maybe the Store was getting a commision The only funny thing I noticed was the venetian blinds... The previous owner could'nt find curved ones for the curved glass/perspex corners You're right I'd rather pay $10,000 for a vintage van when they are few and far between. You're not likely to see too many others around... Especially in W.A. it would seem as you said. The one I have my eye on is just up the road from me and it does need some restoration work... I'm hoping the current owner lets me have it for a song... We'll see how I go ;D Cheers The VW Nut!

JBJ .......my maiden vintage caravan trip was in November 2001 in my FC wagon and "Joker 11" ......at the end of the trip, when we got home, my wife (at the time) said (referring to the FC) "don't ever take me away in that F'n thing again" ........ I didn't, but she is no longer my wife ....... Guys, you worry too much about what you pay for these things ......the fact is $5000 ain't alot of money anymore ......and in another post I've carried on about how many hours I've spent so far restoring a Don caravan, imagine if I was charging myself $30 ph (yeah I'm cheap ) what it would owe me I paid $6000 in 1984 for a FX Holden, everybody thought I was mad ......the same car set a record high price for a stock FX Holden at the Shannons Grand Prix auction in 2002 when I sold it for $30000 Mark

Thanks Mark you don't help the decision making process one little bit. Big problem (and the deciding factor) is that we want to do a bit of touring around SA on the way home from Morgan. Common sense will be the winner I think. What will be your tow vehicle to Morgan Cobber

Hey Cobber I have cured the problem with overheating while towing with the FJ. Have a look on eBay under collector cars 1940 to 1970... search on FJ Panel van. You . Maurie, Mark and every other 48/215 - FJ owner on this site are gunna kill me. I had the hyperlink here but it included my reserve price etc. so cant use it....... Hey it makes the decision about what car to take to Morgan , much , much easier. Also solves the financial situation too. If ya read the script in the ad you might notice that i am aiming for a V8 .... not sure what yet... unless Will rings up and we swap the J for that old rusty '56 F100 he's got. REDDO IN A FORD ... ...... Now i would like to see that. Take the magna mate. Give the J a rest. Cant be any worse than me takin the Landcrusher .... if i go. Ya gotta remember its a vintage van rally so as long as the vans ( and thier owners) get there thats all that matters. we can always park the late model tin out of the photos.... except while we are towing the vans. Clever camera angles will cure that.problem too. Reddo duckin for cover

hey Reddo nothin to duck for cover for Im taking Lyns Maxima over east Why ? reliability comfort and common sense
the meeting in Morgan is a vintage van meeting and if you towed a vintage van with a 2006 mercedes Benz you would still be welcome Old cars look great with them Granted but when your travelling across Australia common sense must prevail If I want Lyn to come with me which I do then it would be stupid to travel without aircon and 100% reliability hot on the Nullarbour dead right it is and Ive got a bad Back and the criteria is if i dont have the full back support I cant come
As it is we are shipping the car by truck to Sydney minimise a four day drive to 5 hours by plane then all we have is a three day trip home Problem solvered see where there is a Will theres a way
Will ps no way Im missing Morgan for Quids see you there or be square

I'll be taking my 65 Holden wagon .......I'm picking up the Hardy Fiesta caravan in Adelaide, towing it to Morgan, then home ......well, that's the plan anyway. Seeing as a few of us are taking modern cars, can we bale up a local car club for photo shoots with the old vans .........just a thought

sorry Will .......Nissan Maxima .....100% reliability I can't keep my mouth shut on this one. For as close to 100% reliability you will get, give me an old Holden anyday as opposed to any late model "electronic computer" car. I'm going to open a can of worms here ........ Electronic computer cars can just stop, and alot of the time, you won't know why I did two trips East towing a caravan with a 1969 six cyl 3 on the tree Holden panel van, 1st in 1996 to go to Bathurst, and again in 1998 to go to GMH's 50th anniversary at Lang Lang (Vic), then to the Gold Coast. I put a 3 core radiator in it, took spare electrics (alternator, starter motor and Dizzy), the gearbox, diff & brakes were all in good order, and I figured that only a stripped timing gear will stop me, dead, .....total & permanent disablement. In true old Holden style, if the diff started to whine, it would continue the journey, if it lost a gear, it would continue the journey, if the rings started to ware, I would pour more oil in it .....you get the picture ..... Oh .....a fuel pump would also stop it dead. Anyway, the car was that good after pulling a 16' caravan 10000 kms accross Australia & back, I simply stuck it back in the shed on my return, and 24 months later, hooked up the caravan again & went back across Australia, (didn't even change the plugs) and again it came home without missing a beat, even through Broken Hill, Wilcannia, Cobar on a 38 degree day, it kept truckin'. I'll do the same with the HD, it has exactly the same mechanicals & driveline .....except, this time instead of having a Dizzy, I'll have a "Ditzy" ;D ;D Mark

And for an added bonus.... with all that lead you have been snorting lately you wont have to worry about adding upper cylinder lubricant or running premium unleaded in the H.D (Holdens Demise).

Mark I have travelled across in so many old cars cars its hard to remember what they were a ford prefect 100e an EK (used more Oil than petrol) 2 Valiants (early) star model ford a volkswagen volvo wb holden so it goes the problem Mark is that if some members are reticent about bringing there old cars to match the van and unsure about boiling and or other problems they may have with the oldies I would rather they show up and bring there van with a reliable car than not come my main problem is that some one decided to stop me dead when I was doing 70ks an hour which kinda wrenched my lower back and I had a relapse two weeks ago so I cant afford even the slightest chance of unreliability nor a seating system that cannot hold me straight while driving 40 to 50 hours Wil

For the record fellas...my FJ is a damn site more reliable than this bl*od# computer of mine, she crashed about 10.00am yesterday and it’s taken me till 3.30 today to make it go again. The only way that would happen with the FJ would be if something broke, and I didn’t have a spare one under the back seat. On the other hand if the Magna stops dead I’ll be stumbling around stupid like, same as I am with computers. I don’t have an over-heating problem, except on stinking hot days maybe. The only departure I made from standard when I started towing “Driftwood” back in 1993/4 was to fit fan blades off a later model Holden (can’t remember which one) that had a sharper pitch to it. Had to fit thinner radiator rubber mounts too, oh yeh, and a tough tow bar. Nope. I’ll be taking the modern car because... I won’t be the only one.. and for a bit more comfort touring. Will have to change all the light bulbs on the van to 12volt too...bugger! Are you talking about the $8000 van on ebay without windows Reddo??? for sale by some nut called nutsnbolts. ;D Cobber.

Will, I don't blame you at all for taking a comfortable car, especially in your circumstances........all i was doing was commenting on your assurance that the Nissan would be 100% reliable.
I can guarantee the HD will be 95% reliable, but can you guarantee the "electronic computerised" Nissan will be 100% reliable?
But ......hey ......we're nice people, if we see you broken down on the side of the road on the Nullabour in the Nissan, we'll toot & wave as we drive by in the trusty HD ;D ;D ;D

Hi Will Love your van !!! My Mum & Dad bought one, used but like new, in the mid to late 60's and had it for years, but it was called a 'Clipper', 14ft long, had round pointed individual tail lights, front dinette, rear convertible divan. Independent rubber suspension but no brakes. I'll have to look through the family archives to find a photo of the van, usually camped at Burley Heads camp grounds on the Gold Coast. Dad used to tow it with his AP4 Valiant Wagon. Saw one late last year on the Dawson Hwy near and heading towards Gladstone towed by an older ute. Would have loved to talk to the owner but I wasn't driving and couldn't stop.

Magnas, Nissan maximas Strewth Ruth!!! .... at least a big butch red landcruiser would look more at home out in the "marginal country" than those two shopping trolleys. Computers .....
