G'day Curtis, that's a good looking car you've got there ,must be fairly rare ,is it? Who/where have you tried for gaskets?.....if your original copper-asbestos head gasket is not too trashed,it's possible to "re-activate" it by boiling it in water for a couple of hours......that will anneal the copper and swell the asbestos back to the original spec ( prior to being compressed).....then let it dry for a few days ,then it should be ready to put back into service , cheers, Col.

Hi, Received these photos from a friend who understands it is a 1946 Chev. Can anyone please verify this? .....yep..'tis. Chevy used the same style from '42-'47,civvy production resumed in '46 ,so could be '46 or '47.....if it matters, easy way to tell is have a look at the side window glass and find the "armourplate" etching, above that word there will be a tiny dot above one of the letters.....count the letters from the A,the number is the year of manufacture. Pays to check a few on the panes of glass just in case one has been replaced.....cheers, Col.

Hi Jennie, your other option is to join the handle back together as best you can and then take it to a foundry and have an aluminium copy made from it. You can then either have it polished or paint it in a colour of your choice. It's not an expensive procedure and it's a better long term solution than patching up the oldie and having it break again the first time you go away in the van and need it , regards, Col.

Hi Kingys , sorry to hijack your thread, but I have a funny story about Terowrie. The father of one of son's friends had aquired a residence in Terowrie when the owners had not paid the Council Rates, and for quite a few years Dale listened to all their stories of what a great time they had there when they used it a couple of times a year as a getaway. Time marched on, and on one of our trips we were going to be passing Terowrie and had been given permission by the son to use the place (actually an old Church )for the night. Armed with a map and a photo, we arrived in town and started to look for the old church, and as we were aware that no one had visited for a while we were expecting to find an abandoned, overgrown mess. Not so, the Chuch was immaculate, freshly painted door, all the grass was mowed, perhaps this is not the right one ? Dale got on the phone to his mate,no, we were at the right place, hold on, he will ask his Dad if he knew what was going on. UMMMM, It is not ours anymore coz Dad didn't pay the rates ;D ;D ;D KB The original

Hi Max, Reckon thats model A Ford, 28 to 31, but Kaybee will probably confirm or correct me. It would have been an old van I imagine. JBJc ....close Dennis ,but no prize...... ;D......'29-'31 A's look like this...... I'd guess that Winterwoods light is an old aftermarket item for either a car or trailer/van.....cheers....

Pretty easy really.....look in the phone book for the nearest public weighbridge, drive your car and van there and either unhook the van when you put it on the 'bridge or just put the wheels of the van on the weighbridge with the van still attatched to the car and weigh it like that.....

Hiya, there's a number of variations in tools for the job, here's one..... www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_153766_153766.....most older cars with steel hubcaps used to have as part of their factory toolkit ,a straight steel bar with a flattened hook on the end that you simply insert behind the 'caps edge and flick it off......or you can get a wheelbrace that has the hook on one end too. If you can't figure it out ,you are welcome to drop in here and I'll show you the why's and wherefore of it all, cheers, Col.
