Hi, everone, we put e10 in our xc falon once by mistake , we drove 100 meters and it stopped. Had to drain the tank ,and then put the 98 grade in , no trouble after that . Peter my mate who does a lot of dyno work says never to use e10 only use 98. The reason is that unleaded is to be phased out and that e10 was going to go into the 95 grade fuel and were doing to trial this out . We have a number of old cars and run on 98 with no trouble , happy motoring John

Hello again, Just a word of advice. I'm not saying that people have to change all their power sockets and light switches on the older vans.
I'm just letting you know what is available. It is highly recommended, if you require a replacement power point you bring it up to the new Standards.
That may not be possible with light switches in the older vans all depends how they are wired. These switches can be replaced on the older vans as a repair, and may not have to come up to the new standard because it is only a repair.
If you rewire your van you will have to bring it up to the new standard SAA WIRING RULES 3000.
Regards John.

Hello again,
I will address this for everybody, if you install a safety switch ( RCD ) in your caravan it will make it a lot safer and a lot less chance of electricution. A good thing now is all caravan parks should have safety switches ( RCD ) installed.
The people with old caravans I have checked to see what is available. Clipsal make a double pole switch in the old type round switch part no 1920-30md white. You can get chrome-antique brass or brass covers to go over switch. Cost for me is $38.32 + gst, covers cost appox $5.00 extra. Clipsal part no for a double pole power point is 2025d cost to me is $28.08 + gst. These power points come in most colours at an extra cost.
regards John.

Hello Westaussie,
This electrician is correct in saying that it should be double pole on all light switches and power points. I am an electrician myself, too many people do it themselves and install the incorrect part.
The reason this came about, was if you had the active and neutral crossed - in the extension lead, that active and neutral would be around the wrong way .So that is why you have double pole switches installed. . This is law by the SAA wiring rules "Standard Australia". I Hope this helps you answer your question.
If you require any more information. please ask me.
Regards John.
