It's always frustrating when you decide to bite the bullet, start grinding away & find more work than what you bargained for! Then comes that "Well there's no turning back now".
But JBJ......once it's done it's done, & when you stand back & look at the finished result, you can say "I'm glad I did it"
Keep up the great work, I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished article.........cheers Adam

Oh I'm just glad that one is not for sale in Oz otherwise I'd be devorced! There certainly are some weird & wonderful VV's around the traps.......makes it very difficult to cease collecting.
PS: In 1988 I used to own a black 1960 Pontiac with a tri-power 389 B/B!

We'll let you know as soon as we can Reddo........we were going to incorperate the Wintersun with our annual holiday, but the school holidays don't begin until July.......so 6-7 weeks might be too long for junior to be out of school!

Actually the local law enforcement pulled me over today at an RBT, not to blow in the bag, but to have a close up of the car!
They'd had sightings of it driving through town with the van in tow over Xmas & must have been talking about it back at the station. "Hey....you shoulda seen what I saw today!" So they said they were going to tell the excited cop that they pulled me over today & fill him in with all the specs!
Didn't sign any autographs though.........Adam

Geez Steve, it seems that you are both very clever and bored!!! I like your work....now watta you going to do with the 4900 numerals? (hehe). I don't know a lot about these old plates (mine could be as old as 1920's), as far as I could find out they are called metal on metal and the numbers are somehow heated to the plate. The numerals seem to be made of some kind of diecast material, having said that I thought I may be able to have it restored rather than do a DIY so as to not devalue it! Don't know how to to go about it yet......might need some more suggestions............Adam

Somebody told me once: 'We don't have the power to change the past but we have the power, & are in control of our future'
Whats happened......has happened! Sure Bindilou & jg66rob have every right to be on the defensive....its human nature. firefighter also goes on the defensive as he sees something he thinks may not be within the guide lines of this forum & has a duty to take action.
F/F should have worded his reply somewhat differently.......although these types of things don't seem to happen too often, I think in future just explain that the post has been removed temporarely pending discussion with the author because of uncertainty?
We are a bunch of like minded people who have a lot fun on these runs......just have to be aware of trying not to step on someones toes from time to time.
Jude.........you are a vital piece of the jigsaw puzzle in this organisation........without you there it will always be that critical piece missing........so don't be a stranger ok!

You ain't bitchn' Reddo.......its a good idea wearing nametags, theres always going to be newbies at every event & it helps both ways to identify VVer's if you have trouble putting a name to a face. Just a good idea anyway...... Rob always wears one when he goes out so someone knows who he is & how to get him home at the end of the night! hehe

Yeah Reddo I thought my 'majority' might get a reply after I posted it! I guess I was thinking inside my '300km' area, a triangle from Canberra to Sydney through to Newcastle & down the South Coast.
Two things, maybe different areas of NSW might like to organise something closer to where they live & two, reason been, time is limited to travel for just a weekend away (for those of us who unfortunately aren't retired)
Only suggestions though.......anywhere on the water would be good, remember we got baked at Berry this year! But with me been green, some of you long time VVer's would have been to lots of nice places.......any suggestion there?

Hey fellow VVer's,
I was actually going to suggest doing something sometime after the New Year, and also suggest if people were interested that it may be a good idea to make the venue central to the majority? (minimise the excess travelling).
We don't want to wait until April/May to do something.......the best weather is gone by then, of couse we'll be having alot of weekends away over Summer, but it's always great to get together with like minded people and enthusiasts.

If anyone missed the Collectors episode 36 (50's fair) with Maurie last Friday evening (especially the Coledale Campers), you can view it on the ABC website...abc.net.au/tv/collectors/segments/s2722790.htm.
It was by far the best Collectors episode ever & a blast from the past for sure! Be certain that you check it out!
Cheers Adam
