Thankyou so much Jenny and Max for yet another great weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed catching up with old friends and spending a great time enjoying your cabins. Although we missed having Bessie with us and plan to have Bessie (our van) next year.

I was catching up on all the missed posts while we had been away overseas when I suddenly and shockingly came across this one of FireFiters demise. At first I thought it was a cruel joke or hoax, but it soon dawned that sadly it was not. I was really looking forward to seeing him at the next nats especially as we missed the last ones due to my own health issues. [Tears welling up] I really didn't have a lot to do with him over the years, however I had spoken to him a while ago, he was amazing, he knew everyone on the forum and took great interest in what they were doing with their vintage vans. A true "gentle" man. He sure will be missed and the Fishers: King Fisher, Wiffie, and The Prince send our condolences to Gaye and his family. R-I-P

whats interesting about TW Sands and co is that they are still in business, and have a wide range of parts and lamps if required. This is where i got the parts to fix up my tidly kero lamp. although they are no longer at that address, you will find them at 508 Swanston St, Melbourne VIC 3000

Im not surprised photo bucket has finally done this, what a great way to make money now a lot of people are depending on it... How annoying... I hate to say it but this is one of the main reasons why I self host our photos, although it is not an option for the technically challenged though.

We open the windows too, but also use a small inverter to run a box fan off the 12v electrics.

When I was restoring Bessie I found a full box of "Black Boy" air rifle slugs and a plaster cast of someone's teeth... I think the shakers are very cute.

The 42nd Historic Winton (2018) is inviting any vintage/classic vans along for the third time. * Free entry to vintage/classic caravaner´s who will bring their caravans to Historic Winton for display. * Camping available at the raceway campground for a fee * Historic vehicle displays and race day for cars and motorbikes * Fri 25 - Sun 27 May 2018 This year they are running the 42nd annual Historic Winton. Every year for the past few years it has been growing, with more and bigger displays, more varied exhibits and more tenacious racing. Last year was the first time that the vintage/classic caravans were asked to join this great race day. This year they would really like to feature a vintage and retro caravan display again, as interest in this nostalgic style of holidaying is growing. As part of the 41st celebration they would like all vintage and classic vans on Saturday and Sunday to be displayed to showcasing the retro caravaning and camping scene. This is a fantastic opportunity to show our vans off to thousands of interested vintage motor enthusiasts. Winton Raceway has a dedicated campsite next to the track, where we can stay overnight, the vans will however need to be moved a short distance from the camping area to the display area around 9am, for the Saturday and Sunday display. The camping fee at the race track last year was $20 per person and $10 per child per night – all sites un-powerd. As a show of gratitude for our support the Historic Winton Committee will provide free entry tickets before the event for the whole Historic Winton weekend to anyone who will bring their vintage or classic caravans along to the Historic Winton for display. The normal general admission fees for this weekend are Sat $30, Sun $35, Weekend $60 and Children under 16 N.C. It will be alright to arrive Friday and leave Monday morning. There will be around 500 cars and bikes expected to be racing on the weekend and there is going to be even more interesting exhibitors. Also, this year, they are anticipating the participation of several clubs that will create their own displays. The Historic Winton Committee are all looking forward to having a lot of fun again this year, enjoying the spectacle of historic and vintage racing and the atmosphere of the years gone by. I will need to give them a list of numbers (Adults, Children, Vans) - by 14th April 2018, please PM me the number of tickets required with your address (King Fisher). Then tickets for the entry will be mailed out to you closer to the event.
