Hi everyone - I was out admiring the new van yesterday evening. I noticed that the glass on the "nondoor" side of the van seems to be buckled outwards. This is above and front of the water inlet area. Other than a small bunch of hairline cracks there is no evident damage.... it almost looks like the glass has just slumped or buckled but I have never seen fiberglass do that before. It will be really hard to get a photo of this I think. It buckles out perhaps 1/2 inch.
The "doorside" of the van is straight. I don't know how I missed it now that I have seen it. The pessimist in me is bracing for bad news.
cheers, Bill

I believe I will be there Brian.
Yipee, all paid for and sitting out the front. Now I have to find a auto leccy to instal the brake controller. My poor old jeep had a hard time..... I drove with the heater on and the windows down to keep it cool. It was a rather warm day without having the heater on. I think its time for a HD radiator.

You can rest assured you will hear from me Bob. Your advice was a great help. I picking it up tomorrow. I have been promising myself to improve the cooling system on my old jeep. I might regret being tardy with that job on the return trip tomorrow..... that will add to the excitement.

Unfortunately the original beds are gone. I don't know what type it is. It is one Bob already had catalogued. The owner had it as a 1966 but Bob's records have it as early 1968. I will get the chassis number when I pick it up and double check. No stickers left unfortunately. I have had a go at posting the pics I had. The photo bucket test link wouldn't let me in the have a dry run (wanted a password and didn't like mine).... so I hope these links work. [a href=" "] [/a]

Hi vintage caravanners. I just bought a 1968 Olympic and thought I'd better build a network of caring friends so I can keep it running. I am in Wandering, WA - that is a place not a state of being, which is a pity.
I must admit I didn't set out to buy vintage for my first van but the olympic was good value, that attracted me at first. When I saw the van I liked it immediately because of the curves of the body design.
I am not a handy sort of guy, haven't got a shed, and failed to inherit my father's skill with wood (he was a railways car and wagon builder.... trained in the 1930's..... could build anything out of wood). Be that as it may I am going to attempt to modify the bed on the van.... expect lots of painful bleating for advice about that and other things.
Anyhow, the name's Bill..... cheers and have a good day.
