Hi all, After fixing the brakes, bearings and the lights, I'm about to register my '64 Globe Trotter in Victoria. The current S.A. registration sticker quotes a chassis number "2617", however for the life of me, I can't locate it anywhere. Can anyone please direct me where it is ... or where it should be?? Max

Hi winterwood, After registering my 1959 Globetrotter and the WA Transport Dept issuing a new number, I was wirebrushing the drawbar and lo and behold, the chassis no. appeared . It had been stamped with a punch, (just like firefighter said to do) and had been buried under layers of paint. Unfortunately I'm in Qld at the moment and nowhere near the Globe, so I can only advise that from memory, it was on the top of the drawbar, somewhere very near the tow hitch. From memory, it was a four didget number and I'm sure it started with a 2. Daggsey

Hi winterwood, before you drag out the welder or number punches, have a look also on the inner side of the a -frame chassis rails, I found the number on my ol Viscount there. Cheers, Gristy

Thanks to everyone for all your helpful answers/suggestions. Whilst we live in Melbourne, we keep the van stored at our holiday place down at Rye on the Mornington Peninsula and will try out your suggestions on the weekend. Sincere thanks again to all.

You little beauty, I found the missing chassis number and it was exactly where daggsey, 313royal and cruz said it would be ... including the removal of some layers of paint. Thanks again to all who replied. The number is 2617 as per the current S.A. rego sticker.
I simply would not have found it had it not been for this forum and as a "new chum', I find it a bit sad that there appears to be a bit of discontent and negativity creeping in to a number of posts in recent times. To the more senior "members" , please get together and work "behind the scenes" to sort out any differences before this great forum loses some of its shine. It's a great concept you have, and it should be preserved and maintained just like V V's.

Hi winterwood,
Great news that you found the chassis number and I'm pleased this forum helped you achieve that.
I apologise to you and all members for my recent rantings which certainly have been off-putting to members, new and old.
