Hi All,
Finally got out of "RAIN SOAKED" Coledale for a couple of hours & headed to the library in Thirroul.
Yep, I said rain, it started about 10.30am Sunday & didn't stop till last night, Monday. Still overcast & showering. It must have been the pits packing up in it & we are glad we are staying till Friday - hopefully everything will be dry by then.
Boots & Dennis, what a bummer, sounds a lot like our trip home from the Nats last year, thank goodness you had Premium Cover - it's becoming a case of "don't leave home without it".
It was a great weekend & a big thanks must go to our "Auctioneer Extrodinaire" Morrie - what a champ, and Reddo your little caravans were an absolute hit - sold like hot cakes.
Thanks also to JBJ, Cobber & Yvonne, Norm, Tickos and any one else I may have forgotten for your donated goodies, & a BIG thanks to the girls for the goodies for the afternoon tea.
We did end up with over $700 dollars for Breast Cancer Research & looks like we will make Prostate Cancer our charity for next year.
Best wishes to Sue & Col's dad & Earlee Birds Mum, who both ended up in hospital over the weekend, hope both are on the mend.
Congrats to Cliff & Ingrid, it is their wedding anniversary today, so might head back to Coledale & have a drink with them.
Jude & Geoff

Yo... The Billycart derby was a fizzer this year.. I noticed Mal walking past my van with his cart painted in the Ford pale blue and white colours. Well... that was enough to spark me into getting the "assassin " out from behind the van..... Thats when things started to go wrong..... It appeared that one of the back tyres had "mysteriously" gone flat overnight after staying inflated in the woodshed at home since last coledale...... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... foul play afoot... yup.. i think so.... Throw the cart in the panno and off to a servo to reinflate it..... s'funny...... .. never even looked like going flat the rest of the weekend... Sabotage by the wannabe C graders... So back on the mountain... Mal had a few test runs and announced that he had fitted the brakes back the front.. I theorised that this would make his cart go faster..... I had one run down the hill and noticed a giant cherry on the front left tyre.....not sabotage this time, just a thread bare carcass... or "Heavy duty tube" as we use to call them as a kid. So...off to the antique /come junk shop to score a 16" tyre.. wheel of whole bike... WHAT... uya want 25 bucks for a stuffed bike with 2 rough 16" tyres... bugger that Off to the bike shop.. $12.00 for a brand newy... By the time i got it back in the cart abnd shot around to the start line Mal was gone.. I done a couple of "Exhibition passes" and record sub 10 seconds for the quarter... Soon got bored with.. how do ya say this ..ummm.. Playing with myself...... no,,,,,, Playing by myself. Went down and tried to shame MRFJ55 into flopping his red cart .. but he was too busy reclining in the annexe reading house and garden magazines.... So... the carts got cancelled. ooooooooooooooooooooooooo... bugga. It wasnt only the carts that was a non event this time around... saturday night on the strip saw a lot of individual get togethers. So ya had to move about to catch up with everyone. I know we canned the surf club this year and i have no probs with that really.. but Coledale this year seemed to be missing something. I know that Bindilou had suggested we have a band play on the night ......and we never took up the offer. I was told that the band would have played for nix and done an acoustic show... i reckon we should take her up on the offer next year.... It would be a lynchpin to get us all together for at least one night . I know i had words with the redhead at Mt Gambier about being organised .. or the benefits of not being organised, but i reckon we should get our act together next year and nail up a few sheets around the crappers and on the telepoles so people know what is happening in camp on what day and when. At one stage there i thought the auction wasnt gunna happen ... so glad it did. with "space to let" between my ears .. i have a terrible memory for names.. i reckon bring back the name tags..... so i can look down at my tag... remember who i am .. and introduce myself No .. seriuosly. I am hopeless at remembering names... everyone gets "G'Day mate "( even the women) for at least 5 years ...cause i cant remember names. Not aiming up at ANYONE here... far from it.. i always enjoy myself down there....just a few random observations that i though we could air ... if anyone else can add to it or suggest what we can do to get people mingling down in camp , speak up while it is still fresh in your mind. Again i say.. i aint bitchin'... just lookin for ways to make next years Coledale even more enjoyable.... Reddo

Haha you must drink bourbon too . This is me Reddo with my distinctive yet charming look , you will notice my quaint pink moustache , this will help you remember me for next time , It runs in the family also so if you spot the youngen I wont be far The only other distinctive feature to set us apart from the crowd was that we had the vynil Jackaroo ,there wasnt one other vv on site like it. While on topic of individual vans ,did anyone get any snaps of martian ? I watched this one unfold when he arrived and realy enjoyed it I think it comes with age because the last hot rod nats my standout for the day was having the owner of an original 1912 chev explain how to drive it

You ain't bitchn' Reddo.......its a good idea wearing nametags, theres always going to be newbies at every event & it helps both ways to identify VVer's if you have trouble putting a name to a face. Just a good idea anyway...... Rob always wears one when he goes out so someone knows who he is & how to get him home at the end of the night! hehe

Reddo Reddo, I made one for everyone who was at the 12th SE Qld get together They looked like this: Business Cards, double sided and lamintated with a punch hole top centre for lanyard or pin. If any one or any group would like one, I'm happy to make them for the cost of postage. Cheers, Ron

I agree reddo, it was a bit disjointed with umpteenn different gettogethers aong the strip. As we discussed I brought a portable fireplace but couldn't find a servo with the std bag of overpriced wood for the life of me! We need a fire to attract the moths!! Ron thats a great idea/ID tag , I'd be in one. jennison

Ron The V.V mob have had name tags in the past. Tickos issued everyone at Motorfest 2006 with a pale blue business card sized tag with ethe forum logo and .. we wrote our names on them with texta. We also had em at Munmorah that same year. So yeah... the idea is not new to us... just needs a revamp top help us brain dead types remeber who is who.... Bloody difficult when ya get introduced to "Fred and Wilma Realnames" and find out they are someone completely different on the forum.... "Barney and Betty Rubble".. So woddya reckon.. whos up for a bit of Rockabilly in the street next year.. Bindilou.. where are you Jules.. i have created a wave.. time for you to surf it and keep the idea afloat... Jennison.. yup. i know ya tried hard to score wood. Tickos mentioned a whole stack of palings somewhere... cant remember if they where still attached to the neighbours fence keeping the Rotweillers in .. or.. stacked up for the taking... Sure missed the "bushmans TV".. this year. Its part and parcel of camping Vintage van style. Perhaps i should stall happy hour till around five and make the effort to make things happen during the day.... "events co-ordinator"... umm... no...... i hate bossing people.. its should just happen.. Reddo

Hey Reddo, I do agree with you Cole dale was lacking something without the Saturday night gathering. In the past this was our way of old V.Vanners meeting new, and socializing, not segregating into groups We did not even have a sit around the fire night with a certain person ripping of their suit and to ones horror throwing it into the fire One of my favorable years was Halloween night at the surf life club, and of course the karaokes, these events did make us socialize with a good time had by all. I agree we need to have something organized for a Saturday night bash. Whilst the billy cart derby was a flop I guess that one is to only a minority of silly buggar dare devils ;Dstill as a spectator was good. Kids games need to be bought back they were a big success past years. There is a fair bit of organizing but hey we have done it in the past ,so lets get serious for Cole dale 2010. Ok I will get of my soap box now,I hear budda stomping down the hall. ;D

One more thing, poor ol sutcac got to coledale most upset with a whine having developed in his diff on route. This I think, is where the big advantages of our network, works best. Chippydave was telling me of the problem and my ears pricked up bigtime.Sitting beside my shed at home was a drum to drum salisbury 10 bolt I had picked up for a little insurance a while back. With my diiff replacement problems on the ute now solved it was Clydes to have IF he could get up to Canberra. This is where luck/coincidence plays its part! Little was I to know, but Clydes next stop from coledale was already planned and arranged. He was on his way to visit Earlee and his girlfriend in ....... Canberra!! To top it off he had a flat and shredded a rim on the VV on route. I had a spare one of those too! So they collected the diff and rim this morning and were off to the diff man in canberra, post haste. I took some phone pics which I will ask the ever patient Donricardo to post sometime for me. As I say this is what our network of friends is all about...... Clydes happy and soon to be on the road again............my wife's happy with one less piece of car propped against the shed and I got my money back on a diff I no longer need - plus some brownie points with the wife by cleaning up some of my mess she is always at me about - wins all round! jennison Photos posted on behalf of Jennison:Earlee looking for the whine in Sutcac's diff...[probably not all that evident when the vehicle is stationary??]... Loaded up with the new old diff and ready to go: Sorry about the delay in posting the pics, Jennison - phone problems! Don Ricardo

Oh dear I think that some of you totally took my comments the wrong way. The reference to Trailer trash was about myself and my neighbors at coledale who would have had a laugh as this is what we called OURSELVES that night.. Come on guys back me up here. We had a fantastic weekend at Coledale and enjoyed everybodies company. Really guys dont take comments so personally, This was by no means a comment to any of you. God lighten up! If you actually knew me you would know this. Really it is not worth havin a joke on this forum as you get shot down in flames as soon as you open your mouth. I cant believe that such a comment would be taken so seriously, unbelievable!

Touchy, Touchy some people should get their facts straight before accusing people of something their not quilty of.The Trailer Trash reference is aimed at myself and others who are a group within the forum and we display a sticker on the back of our vans that state just that ,and we wear them with pride.Jules you can call me Trailer Trash anytime. Some people need to get with it and lighten up and not take everything they read so seriously

Hey Bindilou..... If its any concellation to you . I can remember the head honch of this forum rolling into The 2006 Vintage caravan nationals in Morgan S.A. The old van he had just bought on the way to the Nats from Perth ( a franklin from memory) actually had a sign ( placed by him ) on it that read "Trailer Park Trash".... So yeah..... the phrase has been used many times by many people and anyone that has ever had anything at all to do with vintage vanning will see the funny side of the phrase and have been affectionately called that by someone else within the vint van movement at some stage. I didnt see what you had posted but knowing you guys i am positive that it was meant with tongue in cheek and 99% of the people who subscribe to this forum would have taken it as such. Its all good. Reddo

Ok you guys, Happily I didnt do what the Administrator did, & at the time he did it, he thought he was doing the right thing by defending the majority of members. No one knows whether a post is a joke or not other than the one posting it. I must admit that I didnt understand where the references to trailer trash etc were meant, & I was at Coledale. It appeared to be a shot at Geoff & Judes Van "the house of ill repute" to me. Unfortunately like some of you, us administrators & moderators are not perfect. Why dont you grow up & accept that moderating a Forum has to be to certain guidelines. We have a bunch of you complaining to us about not moderating enough, & similar numbers complaining about over moderation I go back to basics here. Most of us are here hopefully because we enjoy the forum & vintage vanning, & NOT TO SHIT FIGHT. Its run by humans, who collectively can be very stupid & cruel to one another. Just look at all the crap that goes on around the world. No one wants jokes not to happen here, but private jokes are just that. Nobody but those involved know that its meant as a joke. I certainly didnt, nor did the Administrator. I cant talk for anyone else. Think about your response before posting it . & consider this. ;D ;D If you have a party for animals, who controls it if the handlers get eaten. Would it still be a party It still can be fun JBJ

Yeah moderators, confusion here I think. I proudly have a trailer trash sticker on the pathfinder right next to my equally proudly placed VV.com and OTP stickers. I was a bit confused when I saw bindilous post was deleted as I had read it earlier. I did not see ronmcrs' comment but I can assure all who were concerned that if you do get to read Bindies post now, I think/hope all will understand. Please repost it f/f and all who may have been offended have another read from a humorous, irreverent ironic aussie humour point of view. I mean we call redheads - blue, tall people shorty and short people lofty and in this case, as when I scored one of those stickers, what is an insult in the good ol US of A, is to me a badge of honour here in OZ!! - have a laugh regards to all jennison

It appeared to be a shot at Geoff & Judes Van "the house of ill repute" to me. nope, didn't offend us, we didn't relate it to the annex of ill repute because we knew bindilou and the crew called themselves that - we also have a "trailer trash" sticker they gave us. we haven't used it yet, saving it for the "rat van". geoff 'n jude
