Hi, Massos here! We were the new members in the Propert at Canton Beach and would like some help in booking 2 spots for Coledale. I really like computers but have difficulty in knowing what to do with them!!! Although, hubby usually tells me in no uncertain terms!!! Thanks, Sandra.

Hi Sandra,
Glad to hear you are game enough for another outing with all the crazies ;D ;D ;D.
Will be able to squeeze you in even if it is over the little bridge.
The regulars usually re book their spots & then we juggle everyone else to fit them in. It's not a problem as the sites are so big and people are usually happy to squeeze up a bit.
Just a reminder the sites are all unpowered.
Will post a site listing about September once it is all sorted

Hi Chris & Kayt,
Glad you enjoyed yourselves enough to come back again this year.
Did you re book & if so did you move back over the bridge. I think somewhere in my poor old mind I recall Kayt telling me you had.
Could you let me know , it's getting close to the time to start working out which sites will be free for all the keen new comers
Thanks

Gday I forgot to speak to you all on Saturday re: the entertainment at Coledale. I spoke to you Jude about some friends we have who are in some fantastic bands, now they are willing to come down and entertain us but mentioned that they would like to be paid for lugging their stuff down there. Any how have a look on myspace for a band called Dirty Lindy who are a 40s 50s inspired swing band and then there is Jordan and the Original six who plays swing, country, rockabilly and a damned fine guitarist you would all love these 2 and i can assure you all that the dance floor would be jumping. Any how have a listen and let me know. www.myspace.com/dirtylindycrewwww.myspace.com/jordanoriginalsix

Hi All,
I love live music as much as the next person.
BUT i dont think Coledale needs it. It got out of hand last year in our opinion with the kids session running as long as it did.
What started out as a nice peaceful dinner has changed because of the addittion of music, whether it be DJ, Karaoke or this suggestion of Live music.
Trouble with live music is we have major age differences in our group. From old farts in their 60's ( like me) & older, right down to young kids.
I dont have a great liking for swing/big band/ & most of the/abillies, except hard core genuine old australian country& western, & 50's & 60' rock & roll.
No one else would have the same likes as me.
But introducing a live band is too likely to make the majority get pissed off with the music, & for what purpose??
We're at Coledale to have fun. A lot of us come a hell of a long way to enjoy ourselves. We, & others, bring our grand kids.
I say go back to what it was a few years back, or at max have a DJ like last year.
Am I the only one with these thoughts?? I'd like to know soon, so I can consider whether to still come.
If the majority want something different to my ideas, fine. With the Forum & events the majority rule.
I know we've only once tried live music in our SE Qld events, & that was Maroochydore. The park managment organised a 2 piece country /rock combo that everyone enjoyed.
But I think we would have enjoyed it without them., probably just as much. There were a hell of a lot of kids there. I believe music is a minor part of kids having fun.

G'day JBJ, You got guts mate..... or is it that you just can't help stating your opinion ?, problem is............. this time I tend to agree with you..... I must need therapy I think it might have something to do with our ages . I had previously decided that this year.... if there was Moby Disk or DJ music at the Coledale dinner..... I was going to opt out and go to the club.. or maybe just hang around the BBQ if anybody else was doing the same. There have always been some people who don't go to the Saturday night dinner........................... they just don't go, no talk... no discussion... they just don't go . The only way to resolve whether the majority want music is to have a poll on a separate thread me thinks....... and seeing as you started this... AND seeing as you're a moderator you can start it You can see more of “Dirty Lindy” on you tube www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdE7-4sPXUcwww.youtube.com/watch?v=ty6cQmCbWDcwww.youtube.com/watch?v=YCYY4909CEwDon't be discouraged bindilou we're just two old gits.... it's good of you to make suggestion Cobber.

Hi Reddo,
thanks for the quick response. I dont believe in sitting back letting something happen that I'm not happy with. Sure I offend a few by saying what I believe, but what the Hell. Its not a personal attack on anything or anyone, so please dont get me wrong Bindilou.
We have lots of outings here in SE Qld, & the common thread that no one seems to miss going to is the Saturday night session around the camp kitchen ( if we can get to it).
They are always informal, & have no organised theme. But everyone seems OK & satisfied with how they go.
The difference with Coledale , to me at least, is that I get to bring grand daughters along from Newcastle for the weekend.
At Maroochydore there were a lot of kids, & they were happy enough playing around the camp kitchen. Coledale doesnt have one, so naturally its different.
I will start a poll on the type of Saturday night entertainment if people want it. I'll also not argue if the result is different than my ideas. I'll just do what anyone can in a democratic society, & thats vote with my feet, & not attend if I dont want to.
Respond please by to me by PM, to keep this thread free of comments at this stage. You also will have anonimity this way.
One thing to remember, & thats unless you say what you think or want to happen, no one else has a clue to your thoughts. Then if it ends up going different than you wanted, you only have yourself to blame for not expressing an opinion.
If I get responses, I'll summarise them & post that result at the end of July. I'll keep names out. Then the serious discussions can go on here as they rightfully should.
Everyone has the right to an equal say, but the majority vote should make the decision.
JBJ

Hi All, Before I start this please note it is not a dummy spit on my behalf in any way at all. After the dinner at Coledale last year apparently (I say apparently, as I heard all the complaints second hand) there were many complaints and after discussions at Canton Beach and again at Katoomba we have decided not to organise the dinner at the club this year. As Jailbar and Cobber have said it is not easy to organise a night that suits everyone, mostly due the difference in ages of our group. I heard all the various complaints and completely understand both points of view and take no offense, as all I do is organise the catering. We are just like everyone else, there for the friendship and the fun. It was suggested at Katoomba that everyone just do their own thing & turn Saturday night into a "Street Party", which is pretty much what we do anyway. Another reason for reconsidering the whole deal is it is becoming more expensive now we have to pay the full amount for the hall, the first couple years we had the hall at a discounted price. Anyway that is my say ;D If anyone else wants to organise something that is also OK. We are looking forward to catching up with everyone at Coledale and again please understand this is in no way a dummy spit. Jude & Geoff

I agree with your sentiments. No need for anyone to contact me. I think you put it well in that we should all just enjoy one anothers company., like a street party

MMM well i'll take all that as a sweet No thanks. Fine by me i'm just a new blood, dont wanna go changing things. Just thought id let you know that Jordan is acoustic and plays country. But No worries i only suggested a bit of music at Canton so thought i would follow through with my word. Rod and Jules make sure you bring that portable record player with you then ive got some great olde rock and roll vinyl we can make do with at our end of the street! This is by no means intended to be Sarcarrrstic!

I am happy to party in the street every night. You get a better opportunity to mingle and catch up with people. I have always enjoyed the meals at the surf club on saturday night and i thank Juse and Geoof for all the effort they have put in over the past 5 years.......but i reckon we can get by with a get together down on "kerosene Alley" .. Deck chairs, esky .. and campfire. As already stated there is a wide spectrum of ages and music tastes between the 100 or so that attend and it is bloody hard to please all. So ... a casual kick back dowqn around the vans will probably be the best option. As an aside.... Love my live bands .. including rockabilly .. have a few of "The Flattrackers" C.D s that have been done to death on long trips. Reddo

Only about 4 sites and they will have gone already bindilou. Most of us get the coledale poverty model accomodation option - gaslightds and BBQ!!. All good fun. Just between you and me though, the van park says no generators but attendees with those ultra quiet new generators you can buy, run those without any complaint from the park manager Jennison
