Hi Kathryn,
Thanks for your offer of a donation, it is a worthy cause & I think we all know someone who has been affected by cancer, so whatever we can raise will be great.
If anyone else wants to donate as well there are three ways it can be done, they have given us a deposit number.
1. Via Bpay it is Biller code 30643 Ref 7376320 Direct to Cancer Council
2. Bank Deposit is to NAB Potts Point BSB 082 048 Account No 86 699 6929 & the Ref is 7376320 - the same as Bpay. Direct to Cancer Council 3. Make a donation at Coledale, I will have some Pink Ribbon merchandise for sale.
Let's see how much we can raise in the true Vintage Van Spirit

I am afraid you are mistaken ................ In fact after a 3 day close observation of this time honoured tradition .. there is only 1 hour a day ... that is NOT .. happy hour at Coldale... I think it is some time between 4 and 5 am..... well.. Thats about the time of morning that things always beccame "a bit foggy for me." some pixs.... Didnt take long for Ken Kennedy to hook up with Geoff and Judes new adopted son..."Frank Farter"... he had a nasty habit of making 'expired air" noises every time ya walked past him.... they had a nice little bondy and a giant stubby to keep em happy.... Ken didnt come home last night and Geoff found Frank and Ken in a "compromising position" on the front lawn this morning... He reckons it was something akin to a scene.."brokeback Mountain". Ken has an Express post sticker on his forehead and is current in the air mail somewhere between Coledale and Perth. Some nice cars rocked up... a few shots of the street scene... The council was kind enough to provide street lighting at night..... and they also agreed to a temporary change of street name too.... and ... as we all know..... when the sun goes down the party animals come out to frolic.... Ya dont get much wiser than these three wise men!!!!! The Ritz had the wurlitzer cranked up..... There was a gathering under the "Annexe of knowledge".... Why we even had an auction to raise dollars for the pink ribbon mob. We had a real honest to badness auctioneer too.. here he is... Mrfj55..... ooops.... MRFJ55. Bidding was brisk and there was lotsa tras........umm goodies on offer... The crowd gathered..... Everything was on offer.. tea pots .. with holes in em... vibrating seat cushions,....... keenly bidded on by those with arseritis......umm... Athritis. The red MG had a reserve of $50 ... but was passed in when bidding only reached 15 cents... bit dissapointing i though.... seemed it appeared over night and the rightfull owner could not be contacted.... I think the local Police took an interest in it later in the day..... Seems they would like to discuss its origins with me..... Hey.. all i wanted was a lift from the RSL back to camp. The keys where in it and it was idling out the front of the club... Anyway... everyone got into the fun of the auction... Thanks Norm the caretaker for donating for auction a 3 night camping package deal for next years coledale.. much appreciated old mate. Congrats to Geoff and Jude on a hard fought win.. even if Geoff bidded against himself 4 times... ;D ;D ;D. When the dust settled at the end of the auction Jude announced we had raise $700 for the pink ribbon crew... Give ya'selves a pat on the back dudes, Well done. Weather was good. Commaraderie was great, vans where brilliant....a great weekend had buy all. i am sure others will echo the same sentiments.. Down to 38 vans this year , still a great event. Good to see a few new faces makin the scene.... I done a annexe crawl on saturday arvo... lotsa little social gatherings from one end of the park to the other. Good to see everyone mingling and soaking up the good time. Congrats and "well done" to those that travelled a long way to be there. Sutcacs, Earlee and his new "Earlee bird", Austin125, JBJs... the list goes on... I was sailing along the F3 near the Gosford exit on the way home and came across "Lucille" on the side of the road complete with flashing yellow lights ......... Swung onto the shoulder of the road and found an NRMA ute in front . Walked back to see whats doin... Apparently the electronic ignition system on the Valiant had decided to die. Dennis was organising a tilt tray to get the val and Lucille back to Alstonville and a hire car so they could get home.. Hope all turns out ok JBJ and Boots. Got home about 2,30 tsarvo.... Old grey 138 in the Panelvan never missed a beat. Thanks John and Pam for "shadowing" me on the run down to Coledale on Thursday. It must have been murder sitting on 90kph in a 350 monaro for hours on end. ;D So.. thats it from me. I am sure there will be plenty more that will have a tale ort 2 to tell. In the words of Jeff Fenech.. "And emm aaiir ... just like ta say... luv yas all" Reddo

Yep, it was a great weekend although the dress circle was a bit empty and it was a shame when a winnebago moved in next door. Oh well, one can't always choose your neighbours! G & J did a great job organising the auction and Morry was a top auctioneer. Geoff was kept busy painting pink moustaches on all the bidders - everything was sold to the "man with the moustache!" Reddo was right about Geoff outbidding himself about 4 times - rumour has it that he could have picked up the lincoln for half what he paid but he outbid himself at that auction too!! Problem for me was I forgot the pink mo was still on and went to the pub for some ice! They didn't raise an eyebrow but when I went to the local store I was wondering if my new aftershave had changed my luck the way the checkout chicks kept me talking! Morry spoiled that little dream when I returned to the car and told me to look in the mirror! Big congratulations to Adam (kazanadam) who disappeared to the sydney velodrome for the day on sat and clocked up a 4th place in the cycling world championships!! What an amazing effort!! Lovely to meet Karen too. The academy award goes to steve(forgotten your site monica) After dropping and breaking my coffee plunger I cleaned the glass up and ripped up to my VV for my emergency spare(yes I am that bad a coffee addict!) and returned to find steve being tended to by bindilou and Karen having apparently cut a an artery on his foot on a piece of glass I missed - blood everywhere!!! Almost had me till I started wondering why there was so much blood on the top of his foot! What a waste of tomato sauce looking forward to next year already jennison

Thanks for the pics and descriptive reports, Reddo and Jennison (possibly too descriptive in terms of Ken and his new found friend ). Sounds like a good time was had by all, as usual. What happened with the billy cart race this time around? And what about that Bentley outside Trodler's Propert? What's the story there? Don Ricardo

One more thing, poor ol sutcac got to coledale most upset with a whine having developed in his diff on route. This I think, is where the big advantages of our network, works best. Chippydave was telling me of the problem and my ears pricked up bigtime.Sitting beside my shed at home was a drum to drum salisbury 10 bolt I had picked up for a little insurance a while back. With my diiff replacement problems on the ute now solved it was Clydes to have IF he could get up to Canberra. This is where luck/coincidence plays its part! Little was I to know, but Clydes next stop from coledale was already planned and arranged. He was on his way to visit Earlee and his girlfriend in ....... Canberra!! To top it off he had a flat and shredded a rim on the VV on route. I had a spare one of those too! So they collected the diff and rim this morning and were off to the diff man in canberra, post haste. I took some phone pics which I will ask the ever patient Donricardo to post sometime for me. As I say this is what our network of friends is all about...... Clydes happy and soon to be on the road again............my wife's happy with one less piece of car propped against the shed and I got my money back on a diff I no longer need - plus some brownie points with the wife by cleaning up some of my mess she is always at me about - wins all round! jennison

Hi All,
Bloody old cars.
Our you beaut valiant decided to start missing on the way home. Checked normal things like plug leads, choke position, petrol flow, etc. It run OK except under load. Wasnt running hot, so we just kept going. Got to the Newcastle freeway & it started raining bigtime, so we slowed down. Every bit of hill resulted in second or low gear, with missing getting worse. Got past the Hawkesbury, running great on downhill. Made top of big hill in low gear, but no probs because rain was that heavy everyone was down to about 40 KM anyway. thn 10 mins later it died. It wasnt running hot, just stoppede.
So we rang NRMA & the serviceman checked & sad No Spark.
As we are smart enough to carry NRMA Premium care, we opted to get the car & Lucille towed home, & we travelled home in the dual cab tilt tray. Seats were minimal, but warm & dry, & cheap. Our tow took us $300 over our NRMA allowance, so if we wanted our own rentacar I would have had to pay that, & with a $350 oneway hire penalty, it was going to be expensive, so the truxck cab was OK.
Got home & into bed at just after 2am today.
Thanks to Reddo, Humpty & Bluetanjo for stopping & offers of assistance, but with older cars parts arent neccessarily available on the side of the road, so coming home & dropping the car to my own mechanic makes sense to me,
But Coledale was great again. Weather was nice, &other than minor problems with car we had a great time.
So now we have Yamba rod run soon, then Canungra the next weekend for our next month of so of vanning.
Its all fun.

Did you also notice that most of the photos are bathed in beautiful sunshine. Combined with an uninterupted view of that magnificent beach it made for one magic weekend. You would be hard pressed to find a camping ground with a vista to top Coledale. Just waking up to the sound of the surf and sitting in the annexe , slurping on a hot brew, sniffing the salt air.. watching the early morning surfers catching a right hander off the rocks directly in front of our vans ... well..... its enough to really recharge the batterys and make me realise just how lucky we are to live here in Australia... Ummmmm.. at least until around 10.00am when some of our overseas immigrants arrive in thier people movers .... release about 10 screaming kids and take over the shore front BBQs ... Yup, Yup, Yup.... no wander happy hour starts around this time. Thanks for the photos guys. Good to hear Earlee, Sutcac and the JBJs are all being looked after. Its never fun having a mechanical problem while travelling... But i guess it goes with the old car Territory.... Humps.. ya need to get yourself to an Optometrist old mate there was TWICE as many Holdens as there was ffffooo... fff... Blue ovals Not to mention a coupla very nice Chevs as well....Tickos, Sutcac Reddo.

Hey Reddo,
Wasnt the weather Great. Can now stop calling it COLD DALE
It was scary seening the un australians at the barbeques. I believe the problem in our inability to want to accept their behaviour basically lies in the fact they grew up in a society that never had the basic rules of fairness , honesty & a christian way of life ( Did I just say that??) that was so different than what we grew up in. We learned to treat people as they treat us.
Again I've probably offended nearly everyone. Well you go & try to clean up the barbeque & crap they left there, so you could have the turn at it you waited for.
I was here first.
