A good weekend and some interesting vans I'd not caught up with before, shame about the weather, but a good time all the same. The local car club's set up could almost entice me to move!
We opted out of the tour north and headed home due to an impending addition to the clan with another grand child due any time. Lovely driving up the coast to Bermagui, my sort of road. There seemed to be a large Olympic in a caravan park at Wallaga Lake too. It was a long trip home, but stops at Bodalla, Ulladulla and Berry helped break it up, with 'She who must' always finding something to buy!
The Velox held up once more so all is good.
Photo shows most of the group after Frankie J's performance, Jeff just couldn't wrestle the banner upright and Frankie J's head is just covering the m of .com if you were wondering.
Thanks to Jennison for his efforts and Reddo for the raffle, a bit of fun after the race.

Hi All,
What a fantastic event & tour that must have been.
We are sad to have missed it, but we have our grand daughter Izzy living with us, & its her 18th birthday tomorrow. We have been trying to keep things smooth for her, & have a small party organised for tomorrow night.
You can only do what you can to keep life running smooth, & its a real big step in her life.
Hopefully next year we can get about a bit more, but " Que Sera, sera"
Its still all fun, & looking forward to South Ballina in the style of our earlier get togethers, thats everyone having fun, with no one person trying to dominate anything.

Thanks for organizing a good weekend Jennison, had a Great time, clocked up a heap of miles on the Chev and teardrop without any hassle, met and caught up with some great people.
Big thanks to Reddo for the effort with the auction and for also the lead on more Old car parts from an ad he read in a window. Now it's just another 7 hour trip to go back and pick up our goodies, knew I should have taken the pickup...

We reached Tathra late on Saturday with steady rain. But then we woke on Sunday to clear skies and didn't see another cloud for the next four days! A beautiful beach holiday - thanks to all the organisers.

And thank you to all those who helped me setup my original canvas annex for the first time.
There must be a joke in it somewhere ... Question: How many vintage caravan forum members does it take to setup an annex? Answer: Six - including one to hold Reddo's beer.
You will be pleased to know it was a lot easier to pull down!

Hi fireballV8 I'm sure someone will bung on some photos when able, I don't do Photobucket so can only stick on one at a time which is probably a bit tiresome, but here's one of part of the group just on dusk, how a caravan park ought to look George

Inbloody deed, a top time for sure. The FJ show was fanbloodytastic, the car club tour tops as well. ;D They must have the best setup for near any car club in the country! Little did I know that the 52 plymouth out back that I was ogling and wondering if anything would fit on the royal, would be supplying parts about 2 hrs later when the royals' tie rod parted from the drag link in the woolies carpark Many thanks to Anthony Dak (a local VVer) and Fred at the car club as well, for a lightning replacement and repair. After the first day of rain we we seemed to keep one step ahead of the bad weather with our visit to the Airstream factory in Batemans Bay a major highlight as well. ;D Onwards to Kendalls where the office girl could do with some happy pills (complaining that she might not take our bookings if we come again as she missed out on some one week bookings ...... Jolly bad luck to her I say, she took ours 6 months ago and still got it wrong with us spread all over the park ..... and not likely to get mine again with that attitude! ) Then on to Coledale. Still good weather all thursday and won 2 meat trays at the club!!! ;D but .......friday morning I needed a scuba tank and flippers to get to the amenities. I had to leave for critter feeding duties at home anyway and it absolutely poured and blew a gale till Marulan but from there to Lake George it looked like Switzerland.....snow, snow and more snow. Up over the ridge and not a cloud in sight at my place, fine and calm just short of the ACT. Talk about Melbourne weather having 4 seasons in a day, they ain't got nuthin on this. Anyway couple of photos coming.....good luck to those who stayed on at Cold-dale and a top week all in all. Have to organise another Frankie J weekend down the track, I am sure all who attended would agree it's well worth doing ;D Jenno Whoops nearly forgot...Thanks to Reddo for his support in kicking this one along in the planning stages and those who attended please remember to send some of your tathra pics to the manager Jane ( who cooked our pizzas) They would like some for their facebook page etc. Email is manager@tbfp.com.au Last but not least, thanks to al who attended and made it a great weekend for all. regards

Well .. Thats another great van trip done and dusted for 2012. Jenno is right.. 4 seasons in one day.. every day Last Thursday was stinking hot on the way from Newcastle to Kangaroo valley via Bowral Holden temp gauge sat on 200 deg most of the day until i decnded into Happy valley. What a great little township... 4 of us... "Smiles".. "Stephen and Julie".. John amd Pam ... me had a pleasant night under the stars with a light breeze and a few beers. John replaced a few hoses on the EH Friday morning before we rocked over to Nowra and southwards to Tathra.. This is one really nice old original EH that behaved itself admirably on the trip south as well as on the tour. We arrived at Tathra around 2.00pm . by the time we got the annexes trimmed up with ropes adjusted just right it was toime to have a scrub up and head for the "Barn"as they call the camp kitchen down there... weather turned to showers during the Fj and Andy ODonnell show.. but everyone had a ball.. Chickenwing Geoff... Young Robbie an Kate (MrFJ55 crew) bopping with the band Farnk and Andy belted the tunes out for oalmost 2 hours.. The stones, Beatles, had everyone up and dancin to "The Eagle Rock"..Didnt know Frank was that good on the harmonica... they really did go out of thier way to put on a good show. Someone commented that if we where to pay to see em preform it would easily be $50 a head. Show finished all too soon but we partied late into the night. Will post part 2 after i launch these pix to ya. Regards Reddo

Saturday at Tathra .. Around 15 of our cars made the trip over to the south coast restorers shed just south of Pambula. we where lead over by Anthony Dak and his wife. They are locals who noticed the old vans rolling into town and so... hitched up thier early Euro van ( name escapes me.. someone will fill in the gaps here) to thiier immaculate FC wagon and drove the 2 blocks to the van park for the weekend.. ;D Anthony turned out to be a saviour for Jennison when the front end in the big Chrysler decided to have a wobble. Thanks heaps Anthony... The restorers bunged on a greta morning tea for us and gave us a bit of a history on the clubs past.. interesting to note they are opening up a new chapter in the club that caters for modified and hot rod vehicles. . They realise that the younger gen just arent picking up on the resto of old cars and are are trying to keep enthusiasm /appreciation of old(er) cars alive weather stock or modified. interesting morris... battery powered developed by one of the members along with a few local high school kids... NiceTR3 Triumph... An Indian similar to Burt Munros 600cc record breaker. The real one is stored in NZ... back at camp .. sun had pushed through so took off to get a few of those shots that cobber mentioned earlier... Its great when ya get the park managers on side and the stick all the old vans together. .i didnt manage many shots with old stuff only.. just a bfew random shots around the sites... Dale and Kylies chev with TD Susieq2012.. TD2000 with TD..... she tells me everything comes in red... "Doin the miles"Harveys EH van and neat little bondy... and a few more .. Cruzs 36 with Gidget the Globey.. Marvin had landed... Vantoura with the 3rd last sunny out of the factory... and of course.. The man that became known as the driving force that got us all to Tahtra this year.. Jeff with his nice old Royal and pathfinder.... Thats it from me at Tathra.. Check 2012 east coast tour thread for pixs and story on the road to Coledale... Lotsa talk between me and Rob and Cath ( Smiles) about a Autumn tour to Tenterfield next year. ...Stay tuned Oh yeah.. thanks again Frank and Andy for the concert.. thanks also to the caterers for a great Pizza night saturday night. Also had a ball rubbin the poop into the ford owners in the barn on sunday during the big race . Thanks also goes to those who bought tickets in my half baked bathurst/cancer raffle, didnt make a lot but it was around $70 more than nothing at all. Gotta be happy with that. Reddo

Made it home safe and sound this afternoon about 3.30pm after 2 weeks away and travelling approx 3000 klms from the far north border of NSW to Eden at the far south border. Amazing trip, travelled much of the trip with great friends and met many new friends. Beautiful coastline of NSW, enjoyed delicious cheeses, seafood, wine and vintage/antique shopping and of course great vintage caravans. Many thanks to Jennison, Reddo and Smiles(Cathie & Rob,scud) for making this one hell of a trip to remember. Cheers Stephen&Julie

Hi all, Some pics and video clips from Jennison for you to enjoy. Check out the last couple especially! Some early morning atmospherics at Moruya: The Frankie J Holden show - click on each of the next four photos to view the video clips (and see and hear what you missed! ): Hope I got the video clips in somewhere near the right order! Another view of one of the Airstreams at Bateman's Bay: And finally, some pics from around Goulburn yesterday (Friday) morning as Jennison wended his way back home (see Reply #112 above): ...and the Lake George winery. I used Tathra as a'shakedown' for "Minnie". Nothing fell off so I assume it will stay together for Lake Goldsmith. Here are some photos anyway. Minnie with tow vehicle & 'Auto Tent' Maurie & Kate with FJH. FJ performing..........and thanking the crowd for their eager and enthusiastic support. . Audience participation The Group....ie photo ;D. A good time was had by all and we ended up at......... Guess where this was taken? . As the Tent was soaked and some what damaged from the "strong" winds we packed up and headed for home from Coledale on Friday morning............Just before the fine weather I suppose

Thank you to Jennison, Reddo, Leanne (Cruz), Pam/John for your support at Tathra, I would not have lasted the distance without all of you. Having lost a few kgs (which I am happy about) I am slowly on the mend. Thanks also for all your organisation with Tathra, East Coast Tour & to Jeff/Jude for Coledale - in Gods hands with the weather, I may have had a few leaks, Ray's Outdoors replaced my awning today & all is now emptied & dry - awaiting my new mudguards with matching tailights supplied by Kris/Col - Luv Sue
