Hi Joey,
Thank you for this. We have booked last year already in a unit at Rainbow Bay, but we will come and see the VVer's and as the weekend gets closer, we can arrange a spot to meet or to have tea somewhere.
Any suggestions anyone? With sad regrets - Cooly Rocks on isn't using Goodwin Park this year and we have booked a spot for Saturday in the main street.
It a bit of dilemma, of which vehicle to take cream or red, maybe cream one this year and break out next year with the Red Chev or the Effie.
But we will be there for fun and enjoyment.
John & Lynne

G'day All ( Wintersun ) now Cooly is something that many of us have been attending for some time now it's only the last couple of years that we been able to organize a small get-together......from memory it's been lunch at Coolangatta bowls club next to Goodwin park.....Drinks and lunch at Twin Towns Servicers club and last year at Kingscliffe bowls club for dinner. We like the idea of meeting in a convenient place to do the same. Regards dosse .http://www.coolyrockson.com/about-festival.html

Hi Banno, I would think so, it's just a case of someone suggesting somewhere and making a booking to make sure that there is enough room for all of us. Going by previous experience. If it is going to be at lunchtime, it will need to be somewhere in the thick of it in Coolangatta as everyone will be on foot. If it is going to be in the evening it can be somewhere out of town as everyone will have a vehicle. Any thoughts Regards Di

Hi surferh,
Is North Kirra Surf Club, the club above a pizza place - opposite the pub next to the roundabout just after or before the big bend?
If so, I have eaten there about 20 times over recent years and every time the food has been great,
Regards Di

Hi All,
2 weeks to go, 845 cars entered to date.
Doesnt seem to be much affected by the official "Wintersun" group going to Port Macquarie.
I dont know of anyone from this end of Australia going to Port .

Just a quick update on Cooly for those who are going...........
With regards to the cruise. It will be ONE WAY this year heading south along Marine parade then north up Griffith Street then making a dogleg through Dutton Street and continuining as two way traffic through Kirra to the northern roundabout. This is to avoid a bottle neck outside the Sands Hotel. By cruising one way only should also stop the bottle neck outside the cooly Hotel as well. Entry to and from the cruise will be from Dixon Street turning left ( north) onto Griffith Street. Warner Street will be left clear for emergency vehicle access ( if required) and possible access to the carpark under the showcase shopping centre. With regards the craft markets. The monthly beachside craft markets ( NOT the rock n roll/nostalgia stalls) will now be on the beachfront at Kirra. This will get rid of non entrant vehicles from marine parade. BOTH Marine parade and Griffith Street will be closed from midnight friday thru till midnight Sunday. There will also be Park N ride facilities for the public available from Border Park Paceway ( behind Kirra carravan Park) on the main weekend. Parking fees apply but the shuttle bus is free. This should help ease traffic congestion. AND more importantly make it easy for those Vintage Vanners to get to/from the Kirra caravan park ;D ;D
There has been a lot of behind the scenes planning for this event and improvments for future events are also in the planning stages, but as all of those involved this year will agree, we need to get this first event to run as smoothly as possible so as to lay the ground work for future years. And yes we will make some mistakes but we are only human, the big difference is we will listen to all critisism, good or bad.
Mr & Mrs Santa will be at the Kirra caravan park sometime on Sunday 5th for a week, so we will see you all then,
Cheers, Steve.

Hi, thought i would mention that if anyone is interested in old books/magazines there is an "old book" shop at Kingscliff.
Go to the Marine Parade roundabout with the large tree in the centre. Surf club is on the ocean side, Seaview St goes to the west side. The shop is about 50m along Seaview St (No 3).
And if you like pizza, go to "Earth & Sea" on the esplanade at Cooly (just south of the surf club)
Cheers. Phil.

Hi Dosse,
Great spot & good idea. Unfortunately because I entered the street cruise on Sat noght We wont be able to make it.
The cruise conditions this year are such that you are not allowed to move your car from its street display spot before 5 pm, & if you are cruising, you cant remove it before the cruise, you have to stay there till cruise starts.
But we hopefully will catch up with everyone over the weekend. I will have my jailbar on display Saturday & Sunday in the western end of Marine Parade, similar area to the last few years.
We are staying in Kirra Beach Caravan Park, with a few other vintage vanners & their vanss,
So see you all soon
