Hi All.
Seeing SE Qld is operating very well, with events pretty well every month happening now, I had a thought thats been in my mind for a while become re activated after a phone call from another NSW member.
We have so many beautiful camping sites in NSW north of Newcastle, that we havent even considered as weekend events as yet
We also have about 16 members between Newcastle & Tweed Heads, according to our members map.
I'm thinking we could organise a few events in the near future, preferably at times that dont clash with anything north of (say) gosford & south of (say) Brisbane.
Its about 8 to 10 hours towing between where we live at Alstonville to Newcastle. It takes us about 4 to 5 hours to get to Mooloolaba, which is around the northern most event held at present in the SE Qld calender.
So its no further for us & the Tweed area members to go to (say) Kempsey, which is halfway from us to Newcastle, than go to Mooloolaba.
I'm not suggesting a fragmentation of our group, just a possibility of members that are too far from the established groups to meet in the middle.
We started out our group up here with the intentions of not repeating events at the same caravan parks. The idea was to discover as much of our natural environment as possible by going somewhere different each time.
OK thats changed as things evolve, & members want to go where they enjoy. I accept that as part of evolution of a group.
But we need to consider options to present to newer members that live beyond the 3 to 4 hour travel time that makes weekend events to far to travel.Any more than that travelling is too much to enjoy for a weekend, in my opinion.
I've camped at a few spots in the northern end of the state, & found them all enjoyable.
Anyone from down that area want to get something happening??
Who knows, you might get a few want to come along for a weekend.
Our first event in SE Qld only had 5 attend, then slowly grew from there.
Its a big event each time now, & very enjoyable. I'm not suggesting anything except a way to expand our functions, & encourage some of the NSW people to enjoy good fun .
I look forward to comments & your thoughts
