I’m really undecided about spats ~ but I love your wheels and tyres !! I think they’d look great with a nice centre cap. Here are a couple of photos of vans I like with spats and painted spats (I hope it’s okay to use pics of other peoples vans?)

Rodnet I made these comments in a different thread recently, that we could incorporate with your post here !! ;D. I'll go searching now and maybe I PM some Supalite owners and see what their chassis numbers are?." Is there a "register" somewhere of V V details once they're registered for the road, such as make, model, year, chassis number, colour etc -
I know of a Holden EH Car Club (I know this site is a forum not a club ) that has a comprehensive one that I will register with when I'm finished my tow car - the Holden EJ ute I'm rebuilding !! Sandra Read more: vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi#ixzz1jhHvTKoI

Yes it is held on by little tacks.
I have just found a thread called "Canvas / Linen exterior coverings" from 11 Sept 2010 posted by "misnlinc54 Guest" in which Reddo gives his method of applying a new calico / canvas roof.
This will be very helpful ;D - any advice is very welcome !!
Sorry about the tiny pics - something very wrong at Photobucket LOL

I think my van may have a canvas roof. Underneath this mess of moss & lichen seems to be fabric & paint. When I attacked the roof recently with a scraper I discovered all these little nails holding down what I think is a fabric of some kind – canvas? What do u think?

Is this my Chassis Number ~ ~ LS141 ? I think my VV is a 1959 Supalite. And does it mean anything? (I apologies for the poor quality of the pics)

Happy New Year Everyone !! This van project will take some time as I work full time, am also restoring a 1963 Holden EJ ute and the van is two hours away at our weekender (I’m not allowed to bring it to Sydney until I finish the ute LOL). Anyway armed with a couple of scrapers & screwdrivers, hammer & chisel & a power drill, I had busy weekend working on my van.

Don Ricardo Thank you for your comments. I hope to expose the rear windows as I feel they were covered up for waterproofing reasons. My van measures about 6 ft wide by 11 feet long (2m x 3.3m). Sandra

Thanks hughdeani
I hope to discover more of her origins as I clean her up such as a brand or a paint item such as wings over the wheel arches as on superlites

Thank you Mark T for your Instructions on posting photos circa March 2005 Okay here are a few photos of by beloved bondwood, your thoughts are welcome. I’m Drying Out Under the metal there are three windows like the front windows The words Tippings Nambucca are on the coupling...... and there are 4 sway bars on the load equaliser, ... load equaliser , that info from a thread of this site thanks guys & they are laying on the red vinyl covered foam seating Plastic sink and a hand pump for water and under that lid to the right it is clad in metal which has been nailed to the timber frame A wonderful surprise to find the annexe in excellent nick with loads of timber posts and hemp ropes. It’s a fully enclosed annexe, not one of those cute roof only with the curly valance types My limited research so far shows that Hughes Rockdale Pty Ltd were Auto Tent Manufacturers in 1949 & 1954. This bunk is at the front of the van weighs a ton

When I bought this van I was told it might be a 1959 Bondwood.
After searching this site (lots of great info to be found) I wondered if it might be a home build, a Superlite or a Skyline.
When I work out how to attach photos I will LOL !!

Hi Alison You & I can be "newbie girls" together as I too have just bought a lovely old bondwood van that is "drying out" at the moment. There is lots and lots of info on this site "tech wise" so have a good look around..... Glad to hear you have some family to help out. My husband and three sons came to help me load her on the trailer and I too was laughed at, but now my youngest (18) who is an apprentice carpenter/joiner is keen to give me a hand ;D NB: You mentioned alot of rain, do you live in NSW? PM me if you do

Rachelle Congrats on finding a vintage van in NSW, I too was looking at other states, Victoria seems to be "overflowing" with them.....lol My bondy is currently drying out after being parked under a tree for many years.

I've just subscribed to this great mag, however I missed the first issue as I've only recently bought a little Bondwood to rebuild. A quick email to the Editor ~ Lisa ~ and I've found I can order the 1st issue on it's own !!
