That is one cute looking vv......got any pic's of inside??? Plus you may need to find chassis# which will be on drawbar (somewhere)....that way these guru's can pinpoint something of a date in time for you! They are good....so be patient! Love it!

Ummm.....just had a looksee Mr Franklin1.......NO nothing remotely like these but I'd say it is a Newlands going by chassis #.
Mine has the patterned masonite? ceiling, but does have laminate cupboard doors (don't like them much!) has the original sq tiles on floor (really good cond). Except for one tile that has a fruit stain on it.
I'd say mid/late 60's.......very retro looking on outside shape!
Anodised 60's lamp over bed....retro cool looking little clock over dinette....still works in fact!
Is it permissible to paint over laminate doors etc or should I keep it original?? I know it's up to the individual.....but would I be really, really doing the wrong thing? It's already been painted over on one wall section.....looks soooo much better.
Oh dear.....I've really done it this time!!!! J

I know, I know Al pal..... But I just couldn't say NO! It cost me the money I had in my wallet....what could I do ....he was an ol tough stockman that had a leather whip on his shoulder for goodness sake. You just don't mess with tough ol blokes like that! ;D I thought he may have whipped it around my ankles if I walked away from it!!!! BUT it does have a SHELF, in fact a couple & a tea towel rail, so there! I had a look in these threads.....similar but not quite.....and you are on the money. It's not what I really, really want but like I said...I just couldn't say NO especially when he told me to "get in there girlie & have a look!!!!!" ;D What a sucker I am..... And it is a long story how I got to this point.....will tell when I post pic's..... I will send them thru shortly....it's raining! ;)J

Anyone heard of...have got...info on... RAMBLER Deluxe - lowline - Preston.... about 9/10ft length x 6'6" width....can't find the tape measure! This is my stepping out. All diamond alum...big frowning brow looking at me with two dents!! Grrrr...not sure how to tackle these. I just acquired it......will tell you the story of acquisition /history when I post pic's later tonight...tomorrow! ;D ;D DHL has Rambler-Nash but it's not the same! Chassis # N516 Is registered with this Chassis # (thank goodness) It's in quite good condition......well except for those, in your face, dents in his brow line & one cracked front window! Small, retro, boxy looking, frowning all the time, cutey! J

I for one will never get tired of looking at "Driftwood"......it is my ultimate vv!!!!
I knew it.....that label on that bottle of wine had TO BE your vv!
I will find son of driftwood....oh yes I will.....well perhaps in my dreams.
Enjoy the attention.....your vv deserves every accolade! J

Hmmmm....have a feeling it's going to smack me in the face & annoy me! Guess replacing it is the only option, if I'm capable of that, not sure. Just have to wait & see how big a tale he is telling me when I view it!!!!
Ahhhh dear. A LITTLE "bondy" would be prefect but most are too far gone for my capabilities or too damn fine that there isn't anything for me to unleash my creativity on.
Guess a professional panel beater could do it....but I guess they will only do what you have suggested.
Mmmmmm......(strumming fingers thoughtfully) Show no mercy eh??? or was that "softly, softly"
And...Gordon thank you....like you, small stuff doesn't bother me too much. They are vintage after all & tell a story of their life!
Thank you both so much.......let you know the outcome. J

Hmmmmm....your right....I was wondering what the difference was but I can see that the end result is so much better. Ok so that covers small dents....
What about quite a large one...I'm talking saucer size....may even be butter plate size!?
I was told "Yeah she'll be right to fix...not a problem luv! Alum is easy to belt out..."
Humphfff....Mmmmmm
I haven't seen it yet but I want to be prepared for when I do see it & won't faint with the enormity of the job......
You know what these ol fella's are like....hee hee

Am wondering if dents in aluminum are easy to "knock out" or is it simpler to replace the offending area? I'm sure someone has attempted it.....just with how much success!

I figured the first place I was going to run to is the door! So we put the extinguisher there, mainly so I'd remember to use the thing in the moment of, let's face it...sheer panic! And at about shoulder level so it was easy to grab!!! Has never bothered me with interrupting the "look" of the interior....Also, a fire blanket lived near the stove and a smoke alarm unobtrusively lived attached to side of cupboard...facing towards the diner area (kinda pointing to front window) if that makes sense to you!?
Overkill you may be thinking, well......when I was a youngster, a van went up in flames in a park our family stayed at....and yes....there was a tragic outcome. Will never ever forget it. I don't believe my Dad did either as he stood helpless with burns to his hands trying to get inside......took less than 10/15 mins from memory!
As Seeshell commented....we want you all safe.....
AND I love your van...............I nearly bid on it 2yrs ago! Bit out of my price range at the time. Didn't think to "make an offer" at the time. Like you I dismissed it.....from memory it was like brand new!
Enjoy your vacation in your vacationer!!!! J

Wow...great work....we saw quite a few crusaders....having just returned from 2 weeks in NZ and I wanted to stuff so many vintage caravans sitting in paddocks forgotten...or were they.....into my backpack....some farm houses had 3 or 4 old bondwoods etc sitting near the house....some had pay tv dishes on them...some were derelict....the crusaders we saw were a lovely shape.....shall be interested to see your final result! Just went into the your link Frankie1.......yep...I think I have to agree....it looks to me like a Coronet...in fact.....it is very similar in shape to my ex! (Meaning 1959 Coronet!) Everything about it looks like Scarlett/Colin! Except I would say the wheel arches have been cut decoratively as my ex slanted and had spats!
I'm with you on this......far out the first "for sale" I go into happens to be a Coronet....need to get a grip. Bit dejavu...... spooky really! J

I have decided, my labour of love & sweat & tears & annoying the absolute "c@#p" out of other members during resto, of selling my vv. Perhaps I shall regret my decision but for now, I am philosophical about it...if it sells, it sells, if not it stays. Quite frankly, it just does not get used & that's a crying shame..... At the moment, I have other projects/commitments consuming my time/energy. 1958/59 Coronet...."Scarlett/Colin"....you will find pic's in "members thread"...and before you post a thread in "for sale eeebbbaai" yes it has been listed on Gumtree & I have posted the link below...(think it worked..not sure) Can PM or email me...... Rest assured selling this vv is definitely not the end of vv's for me... ;D J www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/sassafras/caravan/1958-9-vintage-coronet-caravan/1014241590#

Better not venture over to NZ then...you would weep bucket loads...lost count of the vv's & some were just so cute in shape...fibbers/bondy's & alum's, all sorts languishing in paddocks, covered in vines etc. Obviously most are used as spare bedrooms etc. They were scattered around backyards/front yards etc screaming to be saved!!! Funny thing, they all sported satellite dishes but not much paint or TLC! I will post a few pic's soon for you to have a look when I have sorted through the photo's......J

Willow & Moth....that is one very gorgeous shaped vv you have.....and I have always loved the shape of the rowvan....which is what I thought it was when I initially saw your post. I really can't wait to see your vv when you have completed your refurbishing.....and how cool you know it's history! Jenniewren
