;D Just had to share my joy! I purchased this 1940's bondwood on 28/08/2012 from VIC and it has since been slowly getting restored here in ACT.
After months of talking to RTA about registration, today we finally got her registered!!! Can't wait to book in our first trip. They did however, register her as 1956 as they thought the wheels looked older than a 1940's...... I didn't argue.
It was in the same family, I bought it off the daughter of the man who built it in the 40's and it was last registered in 1978 and sat in the garage until they sold their house last year and it had to go.
We are so pleased with it! Just had to share my pride and joy!
Will post more pics

Congratulations Jay it looks like you have done a wonderfull job not to mention survived the beaurocratic blockades along the way. Is the lady(daughter) sure it was built in the 40s' .....its shape reminds me of more like the early 50s'. A very modern shape for its' time indeed if her memory is correct. Are you going to bring it on a run......say xmas in July? or perhaps the toads and roaches run?(april?) otherwise Kiama in sept is another not too far from ACT well done again jenno

I checked with Ann and she said the van would be circa 1950's as she used to go away on trips as a baby a lot and stay at cemeteries as her father was a monumental mason! What a history for this little van.
They can't find paperwork and can't remember the exact year but as long as its registered and I have an idea, I'm happy!
As for trips, I plan to go to the South Coast as I spent a lot of time down there in my dads van as a kid and I wanted my kids to experience the same. I e also been recommended other nice camp sites to try. I've been looking into the Museum of the long weekend as its here in Canberra and I'll see if I can get more stories and pictures off Ann.
The trip in September sounds great!

What a beauty! You mentioned in a previous post that you might have to sell it to make room for a 77 Civic ... ... Get rid of the Civic!

Congratulations Jay Always good to see a project getting pushed through to completion. She looks great mate. Can understand the excitement / anticipation you are feeling about getting out and using your van. Enjoy the admiration you and the van will get when you pull into your favourite van park down the coast. Also applaud your plans to take the kids along to experience the joys of vintage vanning. Better get busy and get that annexe made ... Regards Reddo

What a lovely restoration. I especially like the paint colours and the small details. Congratulation on registration - it's a fun process isn't it
